SEEN AROUND THE GROUND Mitchell Musticone - has joined Dromana U19’s “because Pa (Lindsay Edgerton) played here.”

Billy Geurts, ‘loitering’ at the back of Dromana’s team huddle at the practice match v Collingwood VFL. Was he spying or just feeling homesick???

‘Step and Son’ Mick Stepanavicius and his son Tim played together in the Reserves at the practice match v Diamond Creek.

Also seen at that match, were recently retired coaches, Rikki Johnston and Daniel Maestrale.

LOTS OF THUMBS UP!!To a very memberGroup who heavily subsidised the cost of the bus to the first practice match.

To the took us to Collingwood, who was pleasant, patient and obliging. Perhaps it was because of the following:

To thetravelled on their good behaviour, manners and willingness to help with loading and carrying equipment.

To new trainer Harriswonderful photos on the day, some of which are seen here.

To for sourcing sausages and hamburgers and to Russel Heggengenerosity and hard work selling them at the practice match v Diamond Creek.

To all our incredible sponsorsto support us during this very difficult time!! Your faith in teventually be rewarded.

HEARD AROUND THE GROUND

Mitch Heggen after the practice match v Collingwood VFL, “The first hit out never gets any easier.”

Danny Vance “It’s been about 5 years since I’ve played. That’s a long time between kicks!” Gary Ferguson, “How many times are they allowed to handle the ball before we have to sterilise it? When the USB with last year’s Grand Final stopped unexpectedly 7 minutes into the last quarter, Philip said “Oh no, now I don’t know who won!”

It must have been Karma when Hastings seconds captain Jayden Regan caught Bluhm on 99 during the cricket season. His aggressive sledging saw him end up in hospital with a dislocated jaw!

Mark & Ruth Crawshaw returned from their cruise to New Zealand & immediately went into self isolation until 2nd April. Good to know they are now ‘out and about’ & healthy!!

LOTS OF THUMBS UP!!

To a very generous member of the Coterie Group who heavily subsidised the cost of the bus to the first practice match.

To the bus driver who took us to Collingwood, who was pleasant, patient and obliging. Perhaps it was because of the following:

To the players who travelled on the bus for their good behaviour, manners and willingness to help with loading and carrying equipment.

To new trainer Julianne Harris, who took some wonderful photos on the day, some of which are seen here.

To Mick McLoughlin for sourcing sausages and hamburgers and to Russel Heggen for his generosity and hard work selling them at the practice match v Diamond Creek.

To all our incredible sponsors, who continue to support us during this very difficult time!! Your faith in the club will eventually be rewarded.

It must have been Karma when Hastings seconds captain Jayden Regan caught Jeff ‘Rooster’

on 99 during the cricket season. His aggressive sledging saw him end up in hospital with a located jaw!

CONDOLENCES TO THE HOGAN FAMILY Written by Roger Spaull, on behalf of DFNC Board,

players, members and supporters.

The Board of Management, players, memsupporters of DFNC would like to convey their condolences and deepest sympathies to former star midfielder, Liam Hogan and his family, on the sad passing of his father Kevin, November 5, 2019.

“From grassroots clubs to the Sydney Swans, hundreds of mourners have paid tribute to former South Melbourne footballer Kevin Hogan OAM. The softly spoken ABC Gippsland broadcaster and sports writer for the Gippsland Times will be remembered as a

gentleman, who touched the lives of many over his 70-year sporting career. Mr Hogan, 85, died peacefully in the eastern Victorian town of Sale on Melbourne Cup Day.” Source: ABC Radio news.

Kevin played 63 games with South Melbourne (195460); and later became a legendary figure at Sale FC and throughout Gippsland for his wide and dedicated involvement in country sport. DFNC was most honoured when Kevin came to watch Liam and the Tigers in action in 2013 and he met with players and officials after the game.

Furthermore, regarding his interest in Dromana FC, Kevin compiled a stunning photo album of the 2013 DFNC premiership victory over Sorrento for Liam which has become a much cherished pothe Hogan family. R.I.P – Kevin Hogan 1934

VALE Clinton Holmes son ofpassed away in January of MND. When we play Red Hill it is for the ‘Bluey’ Holmes trophy to commemorate his time with both clubs.

It is with great regret that the club notes the passing of Kerry Kendall ex Club Trainer and father of our 1994/5 Senior Coach Glen. Condolences to Lorraine and family.

DROMANA COTERIE GROUP

An exciting new group has been formed to promote and assist the Board with the running of the club. Their slogan ‘Keeping the Tigers Roaring’ says it all. To find out more about how you can join and help the club, contact The President, Allen Minchington on 0418 725 465 or by email [email protected], Vice President Steve Vosti 0404 813 972 or Secretary Bruce Smethurst 0428 080 826. They would love to have you in this innovative group.

PHOTOS V COLLINGWOOD VFL On Thursday 13th February a squad of our players attended the Holden Centre for a training session and a practice match against Collingwood VFL. It was a tough hit out, but much was learned and it was great to see Mitch Cook while Judi and Val looked tiny beside Travis Cloke.

I’m normally a social girl; I love to meet my mates But lately with the virus here, we can’t go out the gates.

You see, we are the ‘oldies’ now, we need to stay inside If they haven’t seen us for a while, they’ll think we’ve upped and died.

They’ll never know the things we did, before we got this old There wasn’t any Facebook, so not everything was told.

We may seem sweet old ladies, who would never be uncouth But we grew up in the 60s - if you only knew the truth!

There was sex and drugs and rock’n’roll, the pill and miniskirts We smoked, we drank, we partied, and were quite outrageous flirts.

Then we settled down, got married, and turned into someone’s mum, Somebody’s wife, then nana, who on earth did we become?

We didn’t mind the change of pace, because our lives were full But to bury us before we’re dead is like a red rag to a bull!

So here you find me stuck inside, for 4 weeks, maybe more I finally found myself again, then I had to close the door!

It didn’t really bother me; I’d while away the hour I’d bake for all the family, but I’ve got no bloody flour!

Now Netflix is just wonderful, I like a gutsy thriller I’m swooning over Idris, or some random sexy killer.

But at least I’ve got a stash of booze, for when I’m being idle There’s wine and whisky, even gin, if I’m feeling suicidal!

So let’s all drink to lockdown, to recovery and health And hope this bloody virus, doesn’t decimate our wealth.

We’ll all get through the crisis, and be back to join our mates Just hoping I’m not far too wide, to fit through the flaming gates!
