PROPOSED 10 YEAR CAPITAL PLAN 2020- 2029

As you know schools need to be continually looking

forward and adapting to changes in educational

theory so that they can offer modern, evidence-

based programs that enhance student learning.

With the upcoming changes to our business plan,

a number of major builds have been scheduled

over the next 10 years so that we can continue to

provide an outstanding learning environment for

our students.

Trinity Anglican School (TAS) was established in 1983

as a Kindergarten to Year 12 co- educational school

at White Rock, with the Kewarra Beach Primary

School campus established in 1991. The school has

well-established buildings at both campuses. The

most recent major building project was the White

Rock STEM Centre, an architect-inspired, award-

winning structure that aligns and enhances our

strong, successful and forward-looking science and

mathematics programs.

The plan detailed below also includes some additional

works that will take place, ensuring that both our

campus’s continue to grow and flourish.

INTRODUCTION

ONGOING CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS

In 2018, White Rock Senior saw the successful

upgrading and refurbishment of C and D blocks into

modern, comfortable and effective learning spaces,

whilst 2019 saw the introduction of a collaborative,

modern learning space at both Junior School

campuses that allows all teachers to access a space

to use modern, innovative pedagogical approaches.

In 2020, our major capital program focuses on the

construction of a covered, open learning area at

the Kewarra Beach campus which will provide a

covered, sun-safe space for students both during

scheduled class time and during break times.

ONGOING CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS

THE NEXT 10 YEARS

The school has identified, budgeted and proposed 3 major builds over the next 10 years.

1) KINDERGARTEN/ EARLY LEARNING CENTRE- KEWARRA BEACH CAMPUS

The science of early development has clearly

established the first five years of life as the most

critical for building the foundations for life-long

learning, well-being, and health. While there is great

variation in the environments in which children live

and grow, the interaction between young children’s

developing brains and the environments in which

they learn has significant impact on development.

Research demonstrates the important role of high-

quality early childhood learning experiences on

children’s development, particularly in the very early

years. As an entry point for TAS, our Early Learning

Centre facilities need to be engaging and effective

learning areas in order for our youngest students

to have a great start to their education.

The facilities need to be bright, spacious and provide

areas to cater for both play-based and structured

learning (the TAS approach to Kindergarten and

ELC). Whilst part of the whole school, they have

specific needs and regulations and thus work more

effectively in a separate, purpose-built facility.

On both campuses, this would allow space to expand

and re-imagine our Preparatory precincts within

the main school buildings.

As the nature of schooling changes, the needs of senior students continues to evolve. Changing curriculum

requires students to have more independent learning spaces.

Modern schools need to ensure student well-being is a key part of the educational journey and therefore

a variety of services and support staff need to be available in a “one-stop shop” approach.

A space that provides independent student work precincts, break-out rooms and ready access to pastoral

staff (Heads of House, Counsellor, Chaplain) as well as student services (international students, EAL/D,

Learning Support, Distance Education, Indigenous student space, Round Square exchange student

services, etc) brings all of these necessary staff together in the one place, for more effective use by

students, staff and parents.

2) KINDERGARTEN/ EARLY LEARNING CENTRE- WHITE ROCK CAMPUS

3) SENIOR STUDENT CENTRE- WHITE ROCK CAMPUS

fencing

2. Refurbishment and upgrading of Prep precincts at both Kewarra Beach and White Rock Campuses
