2017 ACHIEVEMENTS

Private meeting with Prime Minister of Malaysia in February 2017 addressing rising issues including Withholding Tax on technical services which was implemented in January 2017 & obtained Ministerial Relief in October 2017. Effective advocacy on the implementation of Foreign Exchange Administrative Rules & GST.

Secured Prime Minister as Keynote Speaker at the 60th Anniversary Dinner for U.S. - Malaysia relationship.

Revamp of the AMCHAM website - building a platform for better brand reputation with increased traffic and visibility among our members, government and stakeholders.

Developed higher level content-driven programs to drive engagement in the membership and showcase expertise within the membership e.g. half-day programs, members’ briefing, working groups and committees that share best practices and provide networking opportunities.

A series of direct meetings with Bank Negara Malaysia and Ministers from MITI, & Ministry of Finance, including the highest attended MITI-AMCHAM Dialogue in recent years.

Launched MY AMCHAM CARES - a powerful Chamber program that celebrates members’ CSR and looks at how our Member companies deploy their CSR along four pillars: Strategy, Sustainability, Communication, and Measurability while aligning with the local, national goals & UN SDGs.

Developed new fiscal strategies to support the Chamber’s growth and sustainability and to showcase the depth of U.S presence e.g. Strategic Corporate Partners Program.

2018 ACHIEVEMENTS

Hosted a highly successful 2-day international conference APCAC Business Summit featuring business leaders and senior U.S. and Malaysian officials (special keynote address by former MITI Minister, Y.B. Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed) and 330 leading business, government, diplomatic and academic figures from more than 12 countries across Asia.

Secured new Prime Minister as a Keynote Speaker for AMCHAM’s AGM Luncheon - first foreign Chamber to be addressed by Y.A.B. Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

Development of new committees - CSR, Investment & Tax to share their experiences and discuss common issues and development in their area of work.
