FORMULA SAE The Formula SAE series competitions—Internal Combustion and Electric—challenge
teams of undergraduate and graduate students to spend eight to twelve months
developing small, formula-style racing cars.
• Formula SAE: Teams are challenged to conceive, design, fabricate, develop, and
compete with small, formula-style vehicles.
• Formula SAE Electric: Teams must design and build fully electric formula-style
vehicles, and compete in events such as design, presentation, cost, acceleration,
skidpad, autocross, endurance and efficiency.
Your sponsorship can reach more than 4,300 students, in addition to hundreds of industry
volunteers, an optimal opportunity for your company to tap into its future workforce.

BAJA SAE
Engineering students must design and build an off-road vehicle that will survive the
roughest terrain in this most rugged of SAE CDS competitions. The end product must be a
single-seat, all-terrain sporting vehicle that will serve as a prototype of a vehicle intended
for sale to the nonprofessional, weekend, off-road enthusiast. Throughout the process
of designing and building this vehicle, students will encounter situations they would find
in actual work environments, from resolving technical challenges to addressing business
concerns. Here, you could find your next employee—connect to over 3,900 students in 3
regional competitions each year with a sponsorship.

SAE AUTODRIVE CHALLENGETM
Throughout the three-year AutoDrive Challenge™ Competition(s), students will work with real-
world applications of sensing technologies, computing platforms, software design implementation
and advanced computation methods such as computer vision, pattern recognition, machine
learning, artificial intelligence, sensor fusion and autonomous vehicle controls. Throughout the
competition cycle, students and faculty will be invited to attend workshops to help them in their
concept refinement and overall autonomous technical understanding.
A Chevrolet Bolt EV was provided to each team by GM, with the sensors and and software
provided by strategic partners and suppliers.
Year 1 (2018) focused on teams concept selection by having them become familiar with sensing and
computation software. They were tasked with completion of a concept design written paper as well
as simple missions that included stop sign/line challenge, lane following, and object avoidance
& detection. The Year 1 final competition was hosted at GM’s Desert Proving Ground in Yuma,
Arizona April 30th – May 5th, 2018.
In Year 2 (2019) the teams will refine their concept selections into solid system developments
and will have more challenging dynamic events for testing on-site, including dynamic object
detection and multiple lane changing. Year 2 will be held at the Mcity Autonomous Research
Park on the Campus of the University of Michigan Ann Arbor.
While AutoDrive Challenge™ has many corporate sponsors/partners like other SAE Collegiate
Design Series competitions, General Motors is the exclusive OEM sponsor of the competition.
SAE AERO DESIGN®
SAE AERO DESIGN
This real-world design challenge compresses an aircraft development program into a
single calendar year. In that year, it takes participants through the systems engineering
process and exposes them to the nuances of conceptual design, manufacturing,
system integration/testing and sell-off through demonstration in one or more classes
of competition—Regular, Open and Micro. Raise brand awareness and reach over 1,300
students through a sponsorship.

SAE CLEAN SNOWMOBILE CHALLENGE™
SAE SUPERMILEAGE This competition challenges students to develop and construct
a single-person, fuel-efficient vehicle. Winning vehicles are
powered by a small, four-cycle engine, obtain the highest
combined kilometers per liter on a specified course and receive
the highest design segment points. The competition increases
public awareness of the importance of vehicle fuel economy
and gives students the chance to set a new world fuel
economy record. Sponsor this competition and connect to
over 250 talented students!
