Derek Bennett, MDMCh, FRCSI, FRCS (Tr & Orth)

Welcome to the IAOS 2019 Orthopaedic Conference at the beautiful Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Cape Cod, Massachusetts!Venturing over from Ireland, I always find it exciting to experience the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, especially this magnificent geographic cape, known as Cape Cod. Its historic, maritime character and beautiful beaches lend the perfect setting for our “USA” IAOS meeting this year.

I would like to thank our past President and current Conference Site Chairman, Dr. Don O’Malley, for suggesting and making the arrangements for this incredible venue, as well as for his tireless efforts in supporting this fine organization. I would also like to thank the Program Chairs, Dr. Robert McLaughlin, II and Dr. Eoin Sheehan, for their dedication in creating the fine academic program you are about to enjoy. This was truly a collaborative effort that took a great deal of time and coordination, and for that I am grateful. The Irish-American Orthopaedic Society continues to build positive relationships with medical colleagues on both sides of the Atlantic as we strive to expand orthopaedic knowledge, foster goodwill and cooperation, and better the lives of those we reach through our good work.We sincerely hope you will join us at this enlightening orthopaedic conference and we encourage you to bring your family along to relax and enjoy the many water activities, museums, golf, fishing, beach sports, and shopping venues that Cape Cod has to offer!
