THE LORD UPHOLDS MY LIFE. 2ND READING : JAMES 3:16-4:3 James teaches about the wisdom from above. GOSPEL: MARK 9:30-37 Jesus teaches his disciples that the greatest are those who serve all.
COLLECTION FOR LAST SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 16 2018.
Dearly beloved in Christ, for the last two weeks in the Church’s life, the Church has revealed to us the mercy and love of God. We encountered a God who does all things well, a God who calls us to a personal relationship with him. The Lord said to us “Courage! Do not be afraid, look your God is coming, vengeance is coming, the retribution of God; he is coming to save you” Cf Isaiah 35:4-5The Lord comes to save us because we are His children. There’s no need for us to worry again, for our God is our strength. As if the above is not enough, last Sunday, He spoke to us in the imagery of the suffering servant in Isaiah 50: 5-9. He says to us, “I offered my back to those who struck me, my cheeks to those who tore at my beard, I did not cover my face against insult and spittle”. The Lord offered no resistance in the moments of torture instead He offered himself so others may come to enjoy some day. That is exactly what we are enjoying today, the suffering of the Lord is our gain. In all these, we learn that those who suffer for a just cause never go unrewarded by God. Their moment of vindication and glory will surely come in the Lords own time. This is exactly what we hear today in our first reading. The wicked men will plot evil against the righteous man because he annoys them and opposes their way of life, speaks against the utter disrespect for the law and points out their life of pretense. Dearly beloved in Christ, what the wicked man does not know is that the righteous man is a child of God and cannot be harmed. A child of the Light cannot be harmed even in darkness, where he still enjoys the protection of God. The wicked man plans his evil deeds and waits in anxiety to see his plans come to pass against the children of God. For us to overcome the devil and his machinations, we must begin to live our faith not only in words but in deeds and actions as well. Our second reading today admonishes us to sow seeds which will bear fruit in holiness. The challenge is that we can possess everything destined for us and not fall to the machinations of the devil, when we pray for them. Let us pray properly for the things we desire for our faith journey with and in the Lord. Let us stop the unnecessary jealousy towards one another and work for the common good and spiritual growth of our faith communities. As faith people destined for greatness and sent on mission, we must make it our priority to serve and inculcate in people that desire to also serve. Our mission is to serve the people to whom we have been sent, those to whom we have been entrusted as gospel ambassadors. Service to such people should emanate from our own faith experiences and life. We can win over all these people only when we take the attitude of being a servant. For it is in serving these people that we lead them to a personal relationship with God.
May God give us strength always. Amen
COMPOUND CLEANING SCHEDULE

Inspire us anew with a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and fill us with renewed zeal for the universal Church’s new evangelization mission here in our Archdiocese and beyond.
