TJ’s started trading in 1992 and has been a part of the Portland Road community ever since.

We have always been successful in what we do, and our range of services has only increased. Here’s a selection of what we do:

Design

At the TJ’s design studio we run both Mac & PC workstations with the latest illustration & design software. We can import & work with supplied artwork & files, or create new stunning designs & visuals for you.

Unless you supply a print ready file (PDF or High Resolution Image, flattened 300dpi with 3mm bleed and crop marks), we will charge for Design and Artwork setup. Our minimum artwork charge for small amends or basic layout is £35+VAT, and from then on, our artwork and design service is £60+VAT per hour.

Supplying Artwork to us

All artwork must have 3mm bleed and crops (have extra background 3mm off each edge and trim marks indicating the finished trimmed size) Raster Artwork must be 300dpi (at full size) and supplied as .pdf .jpg, .psd, .eps, .bmp, .png Vector Artwork must have fonts embedded (or outlined) and supplied as .pdf, .ai, .eps, .svg

A raster image is made of up pixels, each a different colour, arranged to display an image.

These pixels remain the same disregarding the size of the image so, if we blow it up, they will lose quality and will become blurry. It’s like zooming in a picture taken with a digital camera.

A vector image is made up of paths, each with a mathematical formula (vector) that tells the path how it is shaped and what colour it is bordered with or filled by. For this reason, they are scalable, capable to be altered in size (reduced or enlarged) almost infinitely without affecting its quality. A circle always looks like a circle, being the size of a dot or as big as a planet.

A4 is the size of a standard Letterhead, and each number lower is twice the size (A3 is the same as two A4 sheets side by side for example). A1 is the standard size for A Boards you will see in the high-street.

Care Of Your New GarmentsYour garments are manufactured from a pre-washed and pre-shrunk fabric. The label inside the garment is the recommended temperature for UNBRANDED garments.

Once branded/printed the temerature must not exceed 400 max. Washing incorrectly will cause print failure and garment

shrinkage.

WASH AT LOW TEMPERATURE

400 maximum!

Unless stated as lower on the garments label.

DO NOT TUMBLE DRYWe suggest air drying or tumble drying on the lowest heat setting to avoid fabric shrinkage.
