NATIONALQUALIFICATIONSANDYOUAllofthecoursesyoustudyintheSeniorSchoolenableyoutogaincreditstowardsNCEAorNationalCertificateinEducationalAchievement.Creditsarethe‘points’youreceivewheneveryouachieveaUnitStandardoranAchievementStandardinanyofyourcourses.Thenumberofcreditsyoureceivevariesfromstandardtostandarddependingonhowmuchworkitinvolvestoobtainthestandard.ThebasicqualificationintheSeniorSchoolistheNationalCertificateinEducationalAchievement(NCEA).CreditsgainedbyachievinganyUnitStandardorAchievementStandardcounttowardsNCEA.
o Youneedtogainaminimumof80creditsatLevel1orhighertogainNCEALevel1.Theeightymustincludeatleast10creditsfromLiteracystandards(usuallygainedinEnglish)andatleast10creditsfromNumeracystandards(usuallygainedinMathematics).

LUNCHTIMECLASSESOccasionallysomesubjectsmayrequirethatstudentsworkduringthenormallunchperiod.Teacherswillgiveyouadvancenoticeoftheseclasses,whichyouarethenexpectedtoattend.Wheretheyarearegulareventyoumaybegivena‘make-up’lunchperiodatadifferenttime.SomesubjectsdeliveredthroughvariousmethodsofE-Learningmayalsobescheduledinourschool’slunchtime.Studentswillbeabletohaveatimetabledlunchbreakinsuchinstances.COURSEDELIVERYSomeofourseniorcoursesareteachertaughtfacetofaceandsomewillbeprovidedbyE-learning.ThisgivesallstudentsthewidestpossiblerangeofcoursestochoosefromintheSeniorSchool.Themethodofcoursedeliveryisdeterminedby:-

We partner with local secondary schools and their students, Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT), Whenua Iti Outdoors, and industry.
So, we’re part of the secondary education system, but you will walk between the two worlds... school and tertiary.
