Lifting the load:

When the crank is turned clockwise (lifting), the crank eye is pressed to the left by the thread on the lock-nut and it clamps the ratchet against the collar of the threaded hub. The ratchet is driven, the two-piece locking pawl engages the ratchet teeth and thus holds the crank and the load when the crank is no longer turned.

Lowering the load:

When the crank is turned back (counter-clockwise), the thread is released via the crank eye and lateral pressure on the ratchet is reduced. The ratchet is fixed by the locking pawl at the same time. The pressing load creates a back torque which results in the ratchet never being completely free under load.

This is also the reason why for turning back a lower pres-sure needs to be exerted.

Ratchet jack model YaletaurusCapacity 10000 kgMechanical ratchet jacks with lifting claw are designed for operation in confined areas where space below the load is restricted, thus preventing the use of traditional lifting equipment. The Yaletaurus is the ideal unit for lifting, posi-tioning or transportation of machines resp. heavy objects as well as for repair and assembly jobs in cramped areas and under toughest conditions. In spite of its capacity of 10000 kg the Yaletaurus has a weight of just 30 kg and the integrated carrying handle makes it a portable, versatile tool. With a hand force of 45 kg on the detachable hand lever, the Yaletaurus will lift, press, push or lower a load of 10000 kg in any direction. A standard crank wheel will bring the jack quickly to the required position.
