Mercer’s Career Products business. Based in

London, she has over 15 years’ experience of

managing regional and global relationships within

the rewards environment, specializing in job

evaluation, grading and industry compensation

trends.

Adam is the European Life Sciences industry

expert. He has been working with Mercer surveys

for the past 6 years and has been highly involved

in the regional MLS data review and analysis of

Life Sciences surveys.

Patent protection on many blockbuster drugs have expired

between 2011 - 2015, with a further estimated $19 billion

prescription sales at risk in 2019..

been and are at risk, due to blockbuster patent

expiries.

R I S E O F G E N E R I C S

Due to increasing patent expiration, generic companies

are on the rise: good for generics manufacturers; also

increase in acquisition of generic pharmaceuticals.

M E R G E R S & A C Q U I S I T I O N SEstablished companies strive to improve

product pipelines and portfolios, which leads

to consolidation in the market; via an increase

in M&A activities, Joint ventures and

Licensing.

Whilst activity remains high, total M&A value in 2018 was

marginally lower than predicted and the forecast for 2019 is

also under scrutiny – as large multinationals struggle to

fulfill the gaps created by blockbuster patent expiries.
