Day 1: Mon, Mar 19 – HONOLULU. Depart Honolulu via Hawaiian Airlines flt #449 at 2:00 pm.

Day 2: Tue, Mar 20 – OSAKA. Arrive Osaka, Japan at 7:20 pm. After entry formalities, transfer by coach to your hotel in Osaka. Deluxe bento box and water will be served during the bus ride. HOTEL GRANVIA OSAKA (2 Nights) (D)

Day 3: Wed, Mar 21 – OSAKA. After a sumptuous breakfast buffet we begin our full day of sightseeing. Our first stop today provides a very unique experience. Realistic-looking food sample tells you what kind and how much the volume of food you are going to eat is. There is no end of fascination in plastic food samples. Today we will make plastic “Takoyaki”, Osaka’s famous octopus dumplings. Next we make a stop at the Umeda Sky Building “Kuchu-Teien” Observatory. For lunch we learn how to make our very own, Okonomiyaki Lunch. Okonomiyaki is a dish that the Kansai region, Osaka in particular, is very proud of. Lots of wheat flour dissolved in water is added to cabbage, then grilled into a round shape along with thin slices of pork or seafood. We end our day by taking a ride on the Aqua Liner (Osaka Castle boat ride). Explore the area around your hotel for fantastic shopping and dining. Your choices are limitless! (B, L)

Day 4: Thur, Mar 22 – OSAKA – KYOTO. We start our day with shopping and more shopping! Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi are the most famous shopping districts in the Osaka region. We then make way to Kaiyukan (Osaka Aquarium). It is one of Japan’s most spectacular aquariums, world-renowned for its innovative presentation. Kaiyukan shows the aquatic animals of the Pacific Rim at their most vibrant and dynamic, by recreating the natural environment of their habitats. At Kaiyukan there are over 15 large tanks, each recreating a specific region of the Pacific Rim, taking you on a virtual tour of the Pacific Ocean. The tanks include, “Japan Forest,” which recreates a sunlit, beautiful Japanese forest; the icy, snow-clad “Antarctica;” and the centerpiece of the aquarium, “Pacific Ocean,” a 9 m (29.5 ft) deep, 34 m (111.5 ft) long tank containing 5,400 tons of water, serving as the home of whale sharks, the largest fish species in the world. Enjoy some time at the adjacent, Tempozan Marketplace. A very nice selection of shops and restaurants. We now make way to Kyoto. Explore the AEON Mall shopping center next door to your hotel and The many shops and restaurants at the Kyoto Train station across the street. NEW MIYAKO HOTEL (2 Nights) (B, D)

Day 5: Fri, Mar 23 – KYOTO – ARASHIYAMA – KYOTO. After breakfast, board your waiting coach and travel to Arashiyama. Enjoy a train ride on the Sagano Torokko Ressha (Sagano Romantic Train) to Kameoka City. Next, enjoy a float downstream on the Hozu River. Ride in an old fashioned wooden boat down the Hozu River to Arashiyama. The boats are manually

rowed by experienced boatmen, who will tell you about local history as you travel down river, seeing beautiful natural scenery and wildlife along the way! Enjoy a very special lunch, a local Arashiyama specialty – Yodofu (boiled tofu) with Tempura and Sashimi. You will also have the opportunity to relax in the “gender segregated” Hot Springs/Onsen Bath with 100% natural hot spring water. Explore the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Forests. Time will be allotted to explore and shop for world-famous Arashiyama bamboo products. (B, L)

Day 6: Sat, Mar 24 – KYOTO – TOKYO. First stop today is Toei-Eiga Mura (Toei Movie Village). Enjoy kimono dress-up before exploring the grounds. Here you can walk freely around the Toei Kyoto Studio film set. This set depicts a street from the Edo period, and is used to shoot more than 200 films per year. Enjoy the atmosphere of ancient Japan by taking in a ninja show maybe even dressing up as a geisha or samurai. You will find all kinds of entertainment for both the young and the old, in this world of imagination and creation. Now hop aboard the Shinkansen Bullet Train to Tokyo Station. Deluxe bento and water will be served. Coach transfer to your hotel conveniently located in the heart of the Shinjuku shopping and restaurant district. Enjoy dinner at your hotel this evening. KEIO PLAZA HOTEL (2 Nights) (B, L, D)

Day 7: Sun, Mar 25 – TOKYO – NIKKO – TOKYO. After a sumptuous buffet breakfast, we head north of Tokyo to Nikko. Nikko is a town at the entrance to Nikko National Park, most famous for Toshogu Shrine, Japan’s most lavishly decorated shrine and the mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. Lake Chuzenji is a scenic lake in the mountains above the town of Nikko. It is located at the foot of Mount Nantai, Nikko’s sacred volcano, whose eruption blocked the valley below, thereby creating Lake Chuzenji about 20,000 years ago. The town is also the site of Kegon Waterfall, the most famous of several waterfalls in Nikko National Park. The included “paid” platform is accessed via a 100 meter deep elevator and offers the most impressive views. Let’s party! Farewell Dinner at a local Izakaya Restaurant! (B, L, D)

Day 8: Mon, Mar 26 – TOKYO – HONOLULU. Today, embark on a full day of discovery in Tokyo! First stop is Tokyo Skytree, a broadcasting, restaurant, and observation tower in Sumida, Tokyo. It became the tallest structure in Japan in 2010 and reached its full height of 634.0 m (2,080 ft) in March 2011, making it the second tallest structure in the world after the Burj Khalifa (829.8/2,722 ft). Next stop is Happoen Garden, which means a garden beautiful from eight angles/a garden beautiful from all angles) is a hidden garden in the vicinity of Tokyo. It was built in the early 17th century (Edo Period) and was reconstructed by Fusanosuke Kuhara in 1915. Revealed by its name, Happoen is a garden with beautiful views. This garden is a home of bonsai, maple, and cherry trees. Most bonsai trees in this garden are over 100 years old and one of the oldest is 520 years old. Along with the calm pond, we will enjoy a traditional Japanese tea ceremony and lunch. Then we pay a visit to the Meiji Shrine, one of Japan’s most popular shrines. In the first days of the New Year, the shrine regularly welcomes more than three million visitors for the year’s first prayers (hatsumode), more than any other shrine or temple in the country. During the rest of the year, traditional Shinto weddings can often be seen taking place there. And finally we have one more shopping opportunity at the world famous, Harajuku Shopping district. Depart Narita International Airport via Hawaiian Airlines flt #822 at 9:00 pm. Arrive same day in Honolulu at 9:10 am. Aloha and Welcome Home! (B, L)
