• Coach Bob Hoff man earned his 200th win at Mercer with the Bears’ 77-60 win over UT Martin on Nov. 16.

• Furman’s Jordan Lyons’ 54 points against North Green-ville on Nov. 13 were the most scored by a DI player since Jodie Meeks of Kentucky scored 54 in 2009.

• Woff ord has faced a pair of coaching legends in North Carolina’s Roy Williams and High Point’s Tubby Smith, who have a combined four NCAA titles and 11 national coach of the year honors.

• Woff ord senior Fletcher Magee is the leading active scorer in the SoCon, as the shooting guard has 1,900 career points to his credit. Magee, who scored a school-record 751 points last season, needs just 399 to enter the SoCon’s career top 10. He trails the league’s career scoring leader, Davidson’s Stephen Curry (2,635), by 735 points. Curry achieved that total in just three seasons.

• Magee is fi rst in SoCon history in free-throw percent-age (91.0), third in total 3-pointers (372) and sixth in 3-point percentage (44.1). Magee, who hit 148 triples last season, is on pace to destroy the league’s 3-point record, as he trails Curry’s record of 414 by just 42.

• UNCG guard Francis Alonso is also climbing the So-Con’s career 3-point chart. Tied for fi fth with 312 in his career, he trails Curry by 102.

• Furman’s Matt Raff erty is the SoCon’s leading active rebounder with 603 in his career. Western Carolina’s Mark Gosselin is second with 574.

• ETSU put together a win streak of 16 games last sea-son, which was the second-longest in the SoCon in the last decade and the longest active streak in the nation when it came to an end. Within that streak, the Bucs won their fi rst 13 SoCon games, good for the seventh-longest streak in conference play in league history.

• Three Southern Conference teams – Mercer, UNCG and Woff ord – earned postseason invites last season, giving the league multiple teams in postseason play for the 10th consecutive year. It marked the eighth time in the last 10 seasons with at least three SoCon teams in postseason play. SoCon regular-season and tournament champion UNCG played in the NCAA Championship, while Mercer appeared in the College Basketball Invitational and Woff ord played in the Col-legeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.

• Six of the 15 All-Southern Conference players from last year return to the league in 2018-19, including fi rst-teamers Zane Najdawi of The Citadel, Francis Alonso of UNCG and Fletcher Magee of Woff ord. Also returning are second-teamers Cameron Jackson of Woff ord and UNCG’s James Dickey, the reigning So-Con Defensive Player of the Year. Furman’s Matt Raf-ferty, a third-team pick last year, also returns. All six ap-pear on the preseason all-conference team this year.

• Collectively, the league returns just 18 of 50 start-ers from last season. No team returns all fi ve starters, though VMI and Woff ord return four each.

• The 2019 Ingles Southern Conference Men’s Bas-ketball Championship presented by General Shale will take place March 8-11 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, North Carolina. The title game will air on ESPN at 7 p.m. Eastern on Monday, March 11.
