  • 2018 Festival of Arts, Music and Hospitality

    MAY 2 – MAY 6

  • Welcome to Bordertown, Sackville’s presentation of some of the very best we have to offer in Arts, Music and Hospitality. Sackville has become known for its small town charm, combined with an exciting and renowned arts scene and its many small but critically acclaimed festivals. Bordertown is a five-day festival that brings these elements together into a variety packed weekend. So explore Sackville, take in the live music, eat a delicious local meal, see some art and take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk. There’s something for everyone at Bordertown and if you’re adventurous you might just find some surprises too! A wide range of local businesses and organizations have come together to make this possible, including The Tantramarsh Blues Society, Sackville Festival of Early Music, Live Bait Theatre, The Owens Art Gallery, Fog Forest Gallery, Painted Pony, Thunder and Lightning, and many more. It has been very exciting to bring all of these dynamic groups and individuals together to put on what will be a thrilling weekend to kick off the summer tourist season.

We look forward to spending the weekend with you.

THE SACKVILLE LEGION PRESENTS: STACEY LYNN READ, THE JUNIOR JILLS AND DREW MOORE

Stacey Read began fiddling at the age of 4. Under the watchful eye of Ivan and Vivian Hicks, Stacey has grown to be one of Atlantic Canada’s top performers and an educator for old time fiddle music. Having attended and graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, Stacey has returned home to Sackville where she continues to travel across Canada and the UK promoting the culture that she hopes to carry on for years to come.

The Junior Jills, under the direction of Stacey Read , are a youth performance group based in Sackville, N.B. Ranging in age from 12-16, these young ladies are delighting audiences with their old time fiddle music, and their step dancing.

Veteran of the music scene in Amherst, Drew Moore is well known for his guitar playing in the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick areas. Drew has played on the road for many years across Canada before settling down in Amherst and has since become an in-demand guitar instructor. Drew has played many times at Branch 26 over the years.

    THREE BOB NIGHT

Peter Karp is a storyteller who also happens to be an assertive singer, an

insightful songwriter, a spellbinding performer, and a searing slide guitarist. Fortunately, those distinctions aren’t mutually exclusive. Nor is it a contradiction to call Karp both a master of the blues and an Americana aficionado. In Karp’s case, all these threads are bound tightly together. $15 advance at Ducky’s Pub, $20 at the door

Glenn’s musical career stretches across five decades, spanning various genres and environments, all the while touching listeners deeply. His gorgeously meditative 1987 release, Keyboard Fantasies, recently received deluxe reissue treatment, and a whole new energy erupted around the mystique of his body of work. Subsequently, a renewed interest in his earlier work has grown. With this newfound attention, Glenn has once again returned to the stage. An incredibly rare opportunity to be touched by the exquisite sounds of a one of a kind artist.
