Federal Verification Process

• Fredonia’s FAO is required to verify reported FAFSA data for the students selected by the Federal Government.

• Check the requirement section in YOUR CONNECTION to see if you were selected for verification. Verification worksheets are mailed home and can be found on the Financial Aid website.

• Return all requested items to the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible as all federal financial aid is on hold until “verification” is complete.

Federal Direct Loan Requirements

• Student must accept loans on Your Connection

• Student must complete Entrance Counseling and e-MPN on-line at www.studentloans.gov using your FSA ID and password

• Submit any loan change requests via email to financial.aid@fredonia.edu

The Excelsior Scholarship

Income ceiling in Year 2 (2018-19) is $110,000 AGI increasing to $125,000 in Year 3.

Must be full-time, 12 credits per semester, and accrue 30 credits by 8/31/19

Must be making satisfactory academic progress Completion Grant - 4 years of eligibility Last $ scholarship - SUNY 1617 Tuition rate ($6,470)

Satisfactory Academic Progress

• Students must maintain good academic standing for the receipt of both federal & state financial aid

• State TAP Satisfactory Academic Progress and TEACH Grant are reviewed at the conclusion of each semester

• Federal Aid Programs are currently reviewed once per year at the conclusion of the Spring semester

• Refer to the SAP charts on the Financial Aid website.

Alternative Financing Options

• Federal Parent PLUS Loan Program:

- fixed 7.6 % interest rate with repayment beginning within 60 days after the second disbursement

- on-line credit check, application, and promissory note process

- if parent is denied, student may be eligible for additional unsubsidized Stafford loan funds.

• Deadlines and Reminders~ File 2019-20 FAFSA and TAP application in October 2018~ Before you decide to drop or withdraw from a class, call the Financial

Aid Office to inquire about a possible loss of future state and/or federal aid
