He and his wife Joan founded PCR and he devoted countless hours to leading our organization, giving advice, sharing his expertise, providing support and encouragement, challenging us to do and be our very best. Jim was passionate about the rights of persons with developmental differences, including the right to be included fully into all aspects of community life in meaningful ways. He was wonderfully generous with his financial support for our work, and an enthusiastic and highly effective advocate and fundraiser for PCR. Whenever he was with our members, at our programs – especially the Tricia Sullivan Respite Care Program – at our parties, at the Annual White Masses and Faith, Deafness & Disability conferences, Jim always made a point of seeking out and talking with PCR members and their families to say hello, to learn about their lives, and to ask what PCR could do to help them. His engagement was genuine and sincere, and he enjoyed these conversations very much, often sharing stories of his beloved daughter Tricia with PCR families. Jim’s empathy and compassion provided hope. Our condolences and prayers go out to Jim’s wife Joan, and to their children Jim and his wife Lucy, Katie Tyson and her husband Bob, and Brian and his wife Jen, and to the grandchildren whom Jim loved so much and of whom he was so very proud. We are very grateful to Joan for establishing the Jim Sullivan Memorial Fund for PCR and for consenting to our request that the PCR house be dedicated to Jim, and named in his honor. We were truly blessed to have Jim as a part of our community, and for his leadership. By continuing the work that he and Joan started in 1994, we can pay tribute to his legacy and fulfill the mission of service about which he cared so very deeply. James M. Jim Sullivan’s commitment to PCR’s members and mission was total. He and his wife Joan founded PCR and he devoted countless hours to leading our organization, giving advice, sharing his expertise, providing support and encouragement, challenging us to do and be our very best.

Jim was passionate about the rights of persons with developmental differences,

including the right to be included fully into all aspects of community life in meaningful ways.

PCR MEMBER SPOTLIGHT Matt Ficca

Matt Ficca was one of more than 500 young people, including individuals with various disabilities and volunteer companions, who gathered in Hampshire, England, for a once-in-a-lifetime week of fun, friendship, and adventure. This year’s annual International Holiday Camp (IHC), which was hosted by Order of Malta volunteers, brought together guests from 23 countries for an opportunity to get out in the world and to be inspired by all that it has to offer.

Matt, a PCR member since 2010, has participated in PCR’s Studio 3F and Earth Day, and is a regular at our Halloween, Holiday and Beach parties, and summer BBQs. He has also danced the night away at many Patricia Sullivan Benefit Dinners. Matt attended the Graduate Transition Program at Montgomery College of which PCR is a co-founder and partner.

As part of the IHC delegation, Matt experienced indoor sky diving at Arundel Castle and breathtaking views atop the London Eye. His favorite activity, by far, was the nightly disco parties that went late into the night.
