Treatment Sheets
At any SHC Official Show where Drug Testing is carried out, a SHC Treatment Sheet is required to be lodged (as
per requirements of the Competition Rules & Show Rules) for any horse that has been administered any Treatment,
Foreign Substance, Medication, Drug, Prohibited or Banned Substance, within 30 days prior to and/or on the day of
competition. The onus is on the Responsible Officer/Owner/Competitor/Exhibitor to lodge a Treatment Sheet for
any horse he/she has entered/ competed in any Official Show &/or SHC event where Drug Testing is to be carried
out. Lodging of a Treatment Sheet Form does not release an Exhibit from being Drug Tested, nor from Disciplinary
Action by the SHC should a positive result to a Prohibited or Banned substance occur. Forms must be lodged with
the event Secretary ASAP after treatment has been sort or no later than 7am on the day of competition.
Treatment Sheets are available from the SHCV & SHCA websites.

T H A N K Y O U
The SHCV Committee would like to send out a HUGE
THANK YOU to all of the exhibitors and sponsors
who have supported our recent SHCV events..
We managed to pull off 3 great event’s in October
and November and this would not be possible
without the continued support of our Members.
Thank you to everyone who followed the directions
of our Ringmaster, Ring Stewards, Announcer and
volunteers to ensure the smooth running of all
events.
Without your co-operation and understanding we
would not be able to finish off 2018 on such a high.
YOUNG HORSE CLASSES ONWARD
Discussion on the future of the Young Horse
classes took place at the September SHCA
Meeting. It was the general feeling from the
majority of States that these classes have
not generally been well supported, which
was disappointing.
With 18 classes needing to be included not
only at State events but also the Grand
Nationals , time restraints also proved a
problem.
A motion was moved and carried that
Young Horse classes wil not continue as
Grand National Qualifying classes from
01/01/2019.
HORSE REGISTRATIONS etc
Another remi nder that all Horse
Registrations, Transfer Of Ownerships,
Leases Applications, Change of Name
Applications etc MUST be forwarded to the
SHCA Office in NSW, your State Group DO
NOT handle any of these transactions.

Show Horse Council of Victoria, Home-Produced Awards
The SHCV has introduced an opportunity to recognise home-produced horses exhibited by non-professional horse owners and riders.
For the purpose of confirming who is eligible to nominate for these awards, we have defined what is considered a home-produced horse.
This definition has been provided for this purpose only and should not be read in conjunction with any other document.
To be eligible for the SHCV Home-Produced Awards, the horse and rider combination must satisfy the Horse Rules and the Non-
Professional Horse Owner and Rider rules:
Horse Rules
For a horse to be eligible for the Home-Produced awards,
the horse is ridden by a non-professional
the horse has either been stabled at home or in a ‘do it yourself’ stable complex for the previous 12 months
the horse has not been stabled in a professional stable complex at any time during the previous 12 months
the horse has not been shown or ridden or led at any Show Horse competition by a professional during the previous 12 months.
Example: To be eligible, a horse cannot be led in a Leading Rein class at a Show Horse competition by a professional during the
previous 12 months
Show Horse competitions include, but are not limited to:
Show Horse Council of Australasia Grand National Championships and qualifying events
Royal Shows
Agricultural Shows
Equestrian Australia affiliated shows
The 12-month period excludes a horse that has been bought from a professional or professional stable complex and re-registered
with a new non-professional owner who has had the horse less than 12 months.
During the course of competition at which a nominated exhibit is competing, a professional is not permitted to ride or work the
exhibit at any time
Example: To remain eligible, a horse competing on Day 2 at the SHCV HOTY cannot be ridden by a professional at any time for the
duration of the show.
The rider of the horse need not be the owner of the horse
2. Professional Horse Owner and Rider Rules
For a horse to be eligible for these awards, the owner of the horse and the rider of the horse in the previous 12 months must not:
own or manage a stable complex where any person pays a fee to stable a horse
buy, sell, deal or hire horses in a commercial capacity
receive financial remuneration for employment in connection with showing of horses, a professional stable complex or riding school
(instruction at Pony Club and Adult Riding Club excepted).
This includes receiving financial remuneration for riding a horse at a Show Horse competition. A small gift is not considered
remuneration.
Example: For the purposes of these Awards, a person who received a financial remuneration to ride a horse at an agricultural show in
the previous 12 months is deemed a professional.
Example: For the purposes of these Awards, a person who received a gift of a browband to ride a horse at an agricultural show in the
previous 12 months is not deemed a professional
This rule does not include remuneration paid to the suppliers of ancillary services such as farriers and vets.
Owned/part owned an equestrian establishment including but not limited to riding schools, events centres, stud or professional
stable complex, in any capacity, or receive any form of remuneration for employment at an equestrian establishment. For
avoidance of doubt for the purpose of this rule, immediate family members of an owner or part owner of equestrian
establishment who work or are howsoever otherwise engaged or involved in any capacity, whether or not for remuneration at
the equestrian establishment, will be treated as being an owner or part owner of that equestrian establishment
Shown a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm, in ANY showing classes, SHC or otherwise. A small gift is not
considered sponsorship.
These rules do not exclude a horse owner or rider having lessons at any time with an instructor, providing the horse remains stabled
at home or in a ‘do it yourself’ stable complex
SHC Database
The Show Horse Council database is now well and truly in use. Many of you will have used the
database recently to complete entries for Grand Nationals, All States Showdown, Classic, Horse of
the Year etc. It is vital that your details in the database are 100% correct so please ensure you
complete your Membership Form with ALL the required details.
If your details change throughout the year please notify us ASAP.
It should be noted that the on-line SHC entry system does not allow pending registrations to be
entered, so please keep this in mind when planning your show entries. Likewise you will not be
able to process entries if your SHCV Membership is not listed as current.
All entries for SHCV Shows must now be lodged via the SHC database. The link for the database is
on the SHCA & SHCV website and as entries for our events are opened we will advise members via
text message or Facebook.
