Technology tools that actually make your work-ing life easier? That is certainly the promise ofrobotic process automation (RPA) technology, and the allure of smart analytic software pro-grams. Join Evan Campbell and Casey Poon from Pro-tiviti as they explore two of the fastest-growingtechnologies that are being adopted by compa-nies across all industries and geographies.Learn more about how RPA and smart analytictechnology operates, how easily it can be imple-mented to quickly optimize productivity, howone’s manual processes can be automated, howyou can identify processes that are ripe for auto-mation, and ultimately what steps you can taketo start reclaiming the best part of your work day.

A Note About Robotic Process Automation(RPA)

This new technology allows for computer soft-ware or a “robot” to capture and interpret existingapplications for processing a transaction, manip-ulating data, triggering responses and communi-cating with other digital systems. Attendees willlearn how the technology of RPA can be appliedspecifically to a wide range of industries andmake an assessment if it is something theyshould consider for their company.

HISTORY OF THE CONFERENCE

● Four decades ago, two active members of the IMA Akron Chapter wanted to startsomething positive at Kent State University (or “KSU”) following the shootings oncampus. Its two founding members, Glen “Woody” Woodson (who died in April 2006 atage 81) and Dr. Norman R. Meonske (professor emeritus at KSU) held the first confer-ence in March 1976, focusing on ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act ofSeptember 2, 1974), a very hot subject at the time.

● Since then, the conference organizers have tried to tackle subjects that were ground-breaking and offered broad appeal. Recently, financial reporting has provided thebackbone of the conference activities. Today, the conference is recognized as “…oneof the top five financial accounting and reporting conferences in the country.”

● The conference has always been held at Kent State University, except for a Replace-ment Cost Seminar in October 1976 (held at Tangier restaurant in Akron, Ohio) and the6th Annual Conference in 1980 (held in Columbus, Ohio).
