General Information All participants must be registered with the SCTP program and have all team, coach and participant paper-

work on file with the SCTP and/or Iowa DNR before participating. Information is available on the DNR web-site.

Athletes must have attended at least six practices (shoots do not count as practices) prior to attending a State Championship Event. All competitors must be students in good standing and must be academically eligi-ble to participate in extra-curricular activities as defined by their school.

All athletes must have the respective National Governing Body membership paperwork completed prior to being squadded for a state championship event. Membership applications will not be accepted at the event.

Entry fees must be paid at the time of registration, with one check for all team entry fees. Fees must be paid prior to taking the field. No refunds once entry fees have been paid.

All squads must be at their assigned field/trap and ready to take the field when the previous squad finishes. Squads may be moved to an alternate field at the shoot director’s discretion to facilitate timely completion of the event. Late squads will be bumped until the end of the day unless another field opens up and you are moved by management.

No coaching of athletes while on the field.

Use of tobacco or alcohol is prohibited for all contestants, coaches and spectators during the course of events or awards ceremonies.

Shoot management reserves the right to alter/change the shoot program at any time, for any reason.

League Information The governing rules for leagues are those of the SCTP and the applicable National Governing Body.

All events must be between two or more registered SCTP teams.

All events must be published on the SCTP Shot 5 system 7 days prior to the event.

All scores for teams and individuals must be posted to the SHOT 5 system within 3 days of the conclusion of the event. Results from any event shot on the last day of the season must be posted to the SHOT 5 system within 24 hours.

Registered Shoots (ATA, NSSA, NSCA) can count toward league scores and be entered in SHOT 5 under the following conditions:

The registered event is entered in SHOT 5 at least 7 days prior to the event.

For ATA singles and doubles events, the shoot should be entered in SHOT 5 as two events of 50 tar-gets each (1st 2 rounds are first event, 2nd 2 rounds are second event). For NSCA or NSSA 100 tar-get shoots, the shoot should also be entered into SHOT 5 as two events of 50 targets.

Registration is closed in SHOT 5 at least the night before the event in order for targets to be used for SCTP purposes.

An athlete must be registered for the event on SHOT 5 in order for the targets to be used for SCTP.

There must be athletes from at least 2 different teams participating at the event.

The “host” coach must enter the scores into SHOT 5 and is responsible for obtaining copies of the scoresheets from the host club for the SCTP athletes.

League specific requirements can be found in this program for each league.

= Endowment Funds

MidwayUSA Iowa SCTP, Inc Match

Team Funds

2018 MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account Funds

Iowa SCTP, Inc. will provide matching funds for youth shooting team’s MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment, up to $5,000.00. For 2018, teams raising money and sending it to Iowa SCTP, Inc. to be matched, will have their contribution matched 1:2 (up to $5,000 per team) on a first come basis. The 2018 Iowa SCTP, Inc. match will be capped at $50,000.00 total. Upon receipt of funds from participating teams, Iowa SCTP, Inc. will match the contribution 1:2 and send the team endowment funds to MidwayUSA Foundation. As an example Team ABC has raised $10,000.00 and sends the team funds to Iowa SCTP, Inc. where it will be matched with $5,000.00 for a total of $15,000.00. Iowa SCTP, Inc. will then send the funds to the MidwayUSA Foundation where the team funds will be matched with funds from the 2018 Matching Program, thanks to Larry and Brenda Potterfield. Example: $10,000 + $5,000 + variable = $15,000 +

Collegiate Trap Championship April 28 at the Stockdale Gun Club

Ackley, IA

The 2018 Scholastic Clay Target Program Collegiate State Trap Championships will consist of American Trap Singles Championship. The American Trap Championship will consist of 200, 16 yard targets. All singles trap targets will be registered (ATA and ISTA registration is required). Event Registration

The event is open to Iowa based Collegiate Teams. Athletes must be enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution and in good standing. Teams, Coaches, and Athletes must be registered with the Scholastic Clay Target Program and athletes must be members of the ATA and ISTA. Coaches must register their teams through the SHOT 5 system.

Entry Fees

Entry fees for the Collegiate state trap championships will be as follows: American Trap Championship -

$62 (including ATA daily fees) *ISTA daily fees are waived for

these events. Entry fee payment will be made to ‘Stockdale Gun Club’ and will be collected the day of the competition.

Practice Traps (available all day beginning at 9am)

Junior Olympic Trap Championships May 19-20 at AVAD Hunt Club

Coon Rapids, IA The 2018 Iowa Junior Olympic (JO) Trap Championships will consist of 125 targets. Athletes qualifying in this state match will have the opportunity to compete at the USAS International Shooting Park in Col-orado Springs, CO. Registration Deadline and Procedures

Entry form should be postmarked or emailed to event management by May 13. Contact match direc-tor, Royce Stangl at [email protected] or 712-683-5752 for application materials and additional information. Range directions are at http://avadhuntclub.com/.

Entry Fee Total individual entry fee is $60 per athlete. Entry fee payment will be made to ‘AVAD Hunt Club’ and will be collected the day of the competition.

Practice Practice dates and times will be posted on the AVAD Hunt Club facebook page prior to the competition for $8.00 per round.

Event Schedule

Saturday, May 19th: Registration will begin at 9:00AM, with a coach meeting at 9:30AM. The match will begin at 10:00AM. It is the intent to complete all shooting on May 19. May 20th will be used if needed to complete the contest due to number of contestants, weather, etc.

Junior Olympic Skeet Championships May 26-27, at the New Pioneer Gun Club

Waukee, IA

The 2018 Iowa Junior Olympic (JO) Skeet Championships will consist of 125 total targets. 75 targets on Saturday, and 50 targets on Sunday. The event will conclude with a fun final with flash targets after the 50 targets on Sunday. This is for fun only and will have no bearing on the 125 target results. Athletes qualifying in this state match will have the opportunity to compete at the USAS International Shooting Park in Colorado Springs, CO. Total individual entry fee is $55 per athlete. Entry fee payment will be made to ‘Iowa SCTP, Inc.’ and will be collected the day of the competition.

State Trap Championships June 6-10, at the ISTA Homegrounds

Cedar Falls, IA

The 2018 Scholastic Clay Target Program State Trap Championships will consist of three events, a Dou-bles Trap Championship, a Handicap Championship, and American Singles Trap Championship. The Doubles Championship will consist of 100 targets (50 pairs), Handicap Trap Championship will consist of 100 targets (Rookies from 19 yd., Intermediates from 21 yd., and Seniors from 25 yd.), and the Ameri-can Trap Championship will consist of 200, 16 yard targets for Seniors and Intermediates, and 100, 16 yard targets for Rookies. The Doubles and 16 yard Singles American Trap State Championship events will both be registered events (ATA and ISTA registration is required). Event Registration

All participating teams must have registered their team, coach and athlete information on the SHOT 5 system prior to registering for this event. Coaches or their designee are responsible for event reg-istration and squad assembly, which must be done through the SHOT 5 system (http://shot.sssfonline.com/shot5/index.asp?fct=L ). Flight and trap assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be open on April 28 for Rookies and Intermediate Singles, and all Doubles and Handicap squads. Registration will open on April 29 for Senior Division Sin-gles event. On-site registrations for this event will not be accepted. All squads must be assembled online by midnight on May 15.

Entry Fees

Entry fees for the SCTP state trap championships will be as follows: Doubles Championship (all divisions) - $35 (includes ATA daily fees) Handicap Trap Championship (all divisions) - $32 American Trap Championship—Senior and Intermediate Divisions - $65 (includes ATA daily fees) American Trap Championship—Rookie Division -$35 (includes ATA daily fees)

* All entry fees include targets and scoring fees. ISTA daily fees are waived for these events. Entry fee payment will be made to Iowa SCTP, Inc. and will be collected the day of the competition.

Practice Designated practice traps will be open on Tues-day from 3pm-6pm. Starting at 7am on Wednes-day and for the remainder of the event, practice will be allowed on up to 10 designated traps from 7 to 8 am and then on 2 designated traps for the remainder of the day [barring unforeseen circumstances]. Practice tickets are required and can be purchased in the registration building. Cost for practice is $6 per round of 25 targets for handicap and American trap, and $6 for doubles (12 pair).

Divisions

Divisions and categories will follow the criteria defined by the Scholastic Clay Target Program: Rookie (5th grade and under) Intermediate (6-8 grades)

Entry Level (1st year of participation as an Intermediate) Advanced

Senior (9-12 grades) Junior Varsity (1st year of participation as a Senior) Varsity

Competitive Squads

Competitive squads will consist of five athletes from the same SCTP team. Any partial squad or squad composed of athletes from different divisions or categories will compete for individual and team awards, but not squad awards.

Rules

The rules defined by the Scholastic Clay Target Program and the Amateur Trap Association shall govern this event. Ties for 1st-3rd in Doubles and Handicap, 1st-6th place in Singles among individ-uals, or 1st-5th place ties among squads or teams will result in shoot offs and will follow the SCTP shoot-off procedures.

Eligibility All participants must be part of a SCTP team and be registered with the SCTP in the SHOT 5 system. All athletes must have participated in at least 6 on-field practices (shoots do not count as practices) prior to the championship event. Trap Leagues

Three trap leagues are available to all athletes and teams registered with the SCTP. For scores to qualify, the shoot must be created within the appropriate League 7 days prior to the event. The 2017-18 League season begins on September 1, 2017. All coaches and athletes must be registered in SHOT5 for the 2017-18 season prior to practice and competition. American Trap The course of fire for the league is American Trap (16 yard singles), and the governing rules are that of the national Scholastic Clay Target Program and the Amateur Trapshooting Association. The 2017 Competition Season will end May 28. The league will consist of 200 targets (4 scores of 50 targets), with scores from at least two different facilities. Athletes or teams may shoot as many events as they wish, with the highest four scores from at least 2 different facilities being selected to determine each athletes’ League Score. All events must be between two or more registered SCTP teams and published on the SCTP Shot 5 system 7 days prior to the event. All scores for teams and individuals must be posted to the SHOT 5 system within 3 days of the conclusion of the event. Re-sults from any event shot on the last day of the season must be posted to the SHOT 5 system with-in 24 hours. Rookie ath-letes will shoot all targets from 19 yards, Intermediates from 21 yards, and Seniors from 25 yards. The governing rules are that of the national Scholastic Clay Target Program and the Amateur Trap-shooting Association. The 2018 Competition Season will end May 28. The league will consist of 200 targets (4 scores of 50 targets), with scores from at least two different facilities. Athletes or teams may shoot as many events as they wish, with the highest four scores from at least 2 different facilities being selected to determine each athletes’ League Score. All events must be between two or more registered SCTP teams and published on the SCTP Shot 5 system 7 days prior to the event. All scores for teams and individuals must be posted to the SHOT 5 system within 3 days of the con-clusion of the event. Baxter Iowa Cup Award: Awarded to the top team based on the combined scores from their top 5 Senior Division athletes’ League Scores, State American Trap Singles Championship score, and State American Trap Handi-cap Championship scores.

High All-Around Awards

Senior Division athletes that compete in the State Championship Events for Doubles Trap (100 tar-gets), Handicap Trap (100 Targets), and American Singles Trap (200 targets) are eligible for the High All-Around Awards. The High All-Around awards will be given to the top 6 men and top 6 la-dies.

State Sporting Clays Championships June 16

The 2018 Scholastic Clay Target Program State Sporting Clays Championships will consist of 100 targets for rookie and intermediate athletes and 150 targets for senior and collegiate athletes—all registered with the National Sporting Clays Association. Event Registration

All participating teams must have registered their team, coach and athlete information on the SHOT 5 system prior to registering for this event. Coaches or their designee are responsible for event reg-istration and squad assembly, which must be done through the SHOT 5 system: http://shot.sssfonline.com/shot5/index.asp?fct=L Time and station assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis. Online registration will open on May 5. On-site registrations for this event will not be accepted. All squads must be as-sembled online by May 22.

Venue Information

The 2018 Sporting Clays Championship will be held at Black Oak Clays, located at 1243 180th St., Pella, Iowa 50219. The course is fairly long, and teams are encouraged to bring carts for their athletes and/or equip-ment. Carts may also be rented from facilities such as Golf Cars of Iowa in Pleasant Hill. Any firearm transported on a cart must be in the vertical position, either muzzle up or muzzle down.

Divisions Divisions and criteria will follow the same criteria as defined by the Scholastic Clay Target Program. Participants in this event must be current members of the National Sporting Clay Associa-tion. This must be done prior to the shoot. Athletes will not be able to join at the shoot. Please allow two weeks for new member online processing.

The course of fire for the league is Sporting Clays, and the governing rules are that of the national Scholastic Clay Target Program and the National Sporting Clays Association. The 2018 Competition Season will end June 10. The league will consist of 150 targets (3 scores of 50 targets), with scores from at least two different sporting clays facilities. At least two of the scores must be shot on a walking course, and only one score from a 5-stand will count towards the League Score. Athletes or teams may shoot as many events as they wish, with the highest three scores from at least 2 different facilities being selected to determine each athletes’ League Score. All events must be between two or more registered SCTP teams and published on the SCTP Shot 5 system 7 days prior to the event. All scores for teams and individuals must be posted to the SHOT 5 system within 3 days of the conclusion of the event. State Skeet Championships

June 22-24, at the New Pioneer Clay Target Center Waukee, IA

The 2018 Scholastic Clay Target Program State Skeet Championships will consist of 200 targets (Seniors and Collegiate) and 100 targets (Rookies and Intermediates) registered with the National Skeet Shoot-ing Association. Event Registration

Any Senior Division athlete competing in all three 2018 American Discipline State Championship Events (American Trap 16 yd. Singles, Skeet, and Sporting Clays) will be eligible for membership on the High Over-All Team. Similar to the discipline specific All-State Awards, the High Over-All Team will be calcu-lated by adding the shoot results from these three championship events for the athlete’s total score out of a possible 550 targets (200 singles trap, 200 skeet, 150 sporting clays). Any ties for 1st or 6th place will be determined through shoot-offs at the last of these three events, which in 2018 will be the Skeet Championships.

Established in 2006, the Iowa Scholastic Clay Target Program, Inc. is committed to supporting organized youth, high school and colligate clay target shooting programs across the state of Iowa. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the primary functions of Iowa SCTP, Inc. are to raise money and provide fund-ing and financial support to Iowa programs and their coaches. With funding provided by those sponsors listed in this shoot program, Iowa SCTP, Inc. and it’s volunteer board of directors has been able to provide funding and therefore more opportunities to new school-based teams, coaches and shooting athletes. Iowa SCTP Inc. provides fundraising opportunities for local programs using MidwayUSA Foundation fundraising items. These fundraising opportunities are designed to satisfy both short term and long term funding needs by providing cash for the season AND by building their MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account.

In 2018, Iowa SCTP, Inc. will be providing additional coach trainers to expand coach training efforts established by Iowa DNR Shooting Sports. General Information

Parking:

Parking is extremely limited and carpooling is encouraged. If you are bringing a team

trailer, registration is required [see below].

Practice traps:

Designated practice traps will be open on Tuesday, June 6 from 3 to 6pm. Starting at

7am on Wednesday and for the remainder of the event, practice will be allowed on 10

designated traps from 7 to 8 am and then on 2 designated traps for the remainder of

the day [barring unforeseen circumstances]. Practice tickets are required and can be

purchased in the registration building. Cost for practice is $6.00 per round of 25 targets

or 12 pair for doubles. Ammunition will be available for purchase as well.

Camping:

1. Camp sites will have water and electric service.

2. Garbage must be bagged and put in the dumpster or garbage cans.

3. Gun racks, range tables belonging to the ISTA are to remain at the traps.

4. Campers must keep campers, canopies, stakes and vehicle(s) within your marked

area. Parking will be strictly enforced. Vehicles illegally parked will be towed

away with no advance notice.

5. Campers may arrive any time after 1 pm on Tuesday, June 5th. No early arrivals. Campers may stay over until Monday noon but will be required to remit camping fees for the extra night.

6. Campfires, fire pits, wading pools and swimming pools are prohibited. No

carts, ATV/UTV’s are permitted except for those used by staff to facilitate the

shoot. Do not even bring onto the property.

Team Trailer Parking:

1. Team trailers are to be parked in their designated site only, regardless of where

your team may be shooting.

2. The sites will be large enough for the team trailer and tow vehicle and, depending

on demand, space for a small canopy. You must ensure any vehicle(s), trailer,

canopies, stakes and equipment remain within your marked area.

3. All bus parking will be off-site. Your team bus may off-load at the range but will
