Dear Parents/Carers We come to the end of a very successful year in our wonderful new school! We anticipated that the new school building would enhance our learning and teaching but it has even s u r p a s s e d o u r expectations. The school is calm, invi t ing and a wonderful place to learn and work. There are so many highlights but some of them are: our P7 School Tour Guides, our P7 Junior Tour Guides at Rosslyn Chapel, our P6/7 Rotary Quiz champions, our School Ambassadors, Health Week, P7 Benmore Transition Camp, our class showcases of learning alongside parents/carers, the launch of our Healthy Tuck Shop, our successful Peer Mediators and Prefects. Our Learning Council and Eco-Committee continue to meet regularly. I
hope you enjoy reading some of the highlights in this newsletter. Mr Stark, our wonderful Janitor, retires at the end of term. We will all miss him so much. He is such a valued and loved member of staff who the children all adore. He has such a
l o v e l y , f r i e n d l y approach with every-one he works with especially the children. I have asked him to come back and see us often next session! I know that you will all s a y y o u r own farewells to Mr Stark
and we plan to have a special assembly for him at the end of term. Finally, I would like to thank you for your continued partnership with the school and I hope you all have a wonderful time during the school holidays.

Glen Walk
In the karate sessions, pupils started off in partners
and learned how to do basic moves. After which there
was a competition for the highest kick!!
Canadian Drumming was a hit with all the classes.
The noise was incredible!!
We had beautiful weather on our Annual Walk
In The Glen. Thank you to Parent Council for
providing fruit for the children and The Rotary
for their
invaluable
stewarding
throughout the
walk.

Primary 4 enjoyed doing cosmic yoga.
They said it helped them relax. You
follow a story with Betsy Banana and
do yoga poses to match.
Our P7’s have had a fantastic year and have been a credit to our school.
We wish them all the very best for the future.

Rotary Quiz
A team of P6 and P7 pupils took us all the way to the South of Scotland Rotary Quiz
Final in Carluke. After a nail biting 8 rounds we finished second by only half a point.
Huge congratulations have to go to the team and reserves who won both the Area and
District rounds on their way to the final.
Parent Council
It has been a great first year in our new school build-ing and we congratulate staff and pupils for all their successes. We have been keeping busy in various ways recently including developing links with the Learning Council and ECO Committee. Members attended their meetings to see what they are working on and we will hopefully continue to do this and be able to offer support or assistance with some of their projects. We consulted over the new school Travel Plan and were involved in the school inspection earlier in the year which went extremely well. Parent Council have also supported various events this term including fruit after the walk in the glen, bookshop, refreshments at sports day and created and gifted the P7 yearbook to our leavers. Everyone is now ready for their holiday and we wish you all a fantastic summer!
Celebration To celebrate our fist year in our new school all
parents/carers were invited to a coffee morning on Friday 22nd June.
Parents/Carers who also help us all year round in school with trips/craft/walks/activities etc, were also
invited to visit their classes and the children presented them with Thank You Cards.
Huge excitement then “rippled” through the school when we arranged for an Ice Cream Van to visit with treats for all the pupils!!

DayDayDay St Clair triumphed for the second year running
at the Roslin Sports Day. Led by House Captain,
Rhiannon Steele, the children were delighted at
their win following a very competitive set of
events across the school. The relay races
caused the most drama with dropped batons
and slips leading to the lead changing at least
four times in every race.

Roslin Tour Guides
Visit From Lady Rosslyn On Wednesday, 20th June, we had a
visit from Lady Rosslyn and some of
the team from Rosslyn Chapel. To
help us buy books for our new library,
the Chapel very kindly raised money
and gave us a generous donation of
£500. Mrs Berry worked with some
of the P6 pupils (future Junior Tour
Guides) to select history books that
children of Roslin Primary could learn from. We were able to purchase a huge amount of
quality books that will help us with our learning of history. Lady Rosslyn also kindly
donated a book on the history of Rosslyn Chapel. What a lovely connection to one
of our local contexts for learning and we thank them very much!
Mr Stark is retiring
after 8 years at Roslin.
His good nature, cheery
smile and willingness to help with anything asked of him will be sorely
missed. We wish him a long, healthy and happy retirement.
