CHICAGO LOWER EXTREMITY SURGICAL SYMPOSIUM (CLESS)
LOWER EXTREMITY EXTERNAL FIXATION FUNDAMENTALS WORKSHOP
TThe Chicago Lower Extremity Surgical Symposium (CLESS) provides a basis for current surgical techniques in orthoplastic fracture management and post-traumatic deformity correction. The course is three intense days, featuring two days of didactic lectures and one day of cadaveric skills sessions, led by some of the world’s leading surgeons in these techniques. CLESS is designed for physicians interested in increasing their training and knowledge in internal and external fixation, post-traumatic deformity correction, muscle flap techniques, plastic reconstruction, nerve repair, and associated orthobiologics applications.
COURSE OVERVIEW
The Chicago Lower Extremity External Fixation Fundamentals Course is designed to provide instruction on the principals of external fixation, from components, design and mechanics, to application and techniques, as well as complications and clinical and trauma management. The course is structured particularly for residents, but also for attending physicians who wish to strengthen or expand their practice with knowledge of external fixation techniques.
• Be familiar with the current concepts in orthoplastic fracture management and post-traumatic deformity correction
• Understand the surgical management of trauma cases, lower limb flaps and plastic reconstruction using internal and/or external fixation
• Have an understanding of the treatment of traumatic nerve injuries• Understand the management of wounds in conjunction with trauma,
lower limb muscle flaps and plastic reconstruction• Discuss lower leg and foot contracture techniques and applications• Have an understanding of orthobiologics science, applications and
techniques
