REQUIREMENTS•Physical Examination & all 6 other required athletic forms (on website)

•Satisfy all eligibility requirements

•Off-Season Participation is Required

•No Cheer Team Debt from Previous Years

PHYSICAL•If you are a current athlete you have the school physical on file (the online application has a place to notify us if you have a current school physical and

what sport it would be filed under).

•Applicants without a current physical must provide a physical from your physician prior to the 1st day of tryouts.

COACH MUST HAVE REQUIRED FORMS BY THE FRIDAY PRIOR TO TRYOUT CLINICS

•All 6 Physical forms if not a current athlete

•Application completed by the end of tonight’s meeting.

Any forms can be returned to the appropriate coach

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS• In addition to the physical requirements of tryouts,

coaches will be looking for enthusiasm, pep, good

attitude, promptness, good grades, no discipline issues,

good attendance records, & other qualities that would

represent Cabot Schools in a positive manner. If your

child does not want to participate, please DO NOT

make them.

CHS TRYOUTS•Tryout Clinics: March 5-8 3:30 – 5pm•Formal Tryout: March 9 3:30 – ?

All Tryout Clinics will be in the Annex at CHS. Final evaluations will be in the Arena. MAKE SURE YOUR RIDE HOME IS THERE ON TIME!

Must Wear RED SHORTS, BLACK T-SHIRT, & CHEER SHOES

Hair must be back away from face and off of the shoulders.

NO JEWELRY, NO GUM, NO LONG NAILS, NO NAIL POLISH

North and South TRYOUTS•Tryout Clinics: February 26- March 1 3:45 pm – 5:30 pm•Formal Tryout: March 2 4pm- 7pm or 8pm or March 3rd 8am - 12pm

All Tryout Clinics will be in the CFA gym.

North- Black Shorts, Red T-Shirt and athletic shoes

South - Red Shorts, White T-Shirt and athletic shoes

SQUAD MAKEUPHigh School- Will be made up of 10th, 11th, & 12th grade students approximately 20-24 cheerleadersNorth and South- 8th and 9th grade students- Each squad will consist of around 20 cheerleaders

-BAND DANCE (High School Only)-CHEER -DANCE-CHANT WITH CROWD PERSUASION-JUMPS-TUMBLING-STUNTING (High School Only)

CHS TRYOUT MATERIALOn Friday, March 2nd, the band dance, cheer, choreographed dance and chant will be live online.

On Monday, March 5th you should come prepared, knowing all materials.

NORTH AND SOUTH TRYOUT MATERIALALL MATERIAL WILL BE TAUGHT DURING THE TRYOUT PRACTICES.

• They will be taught a motion cadence, a cheer, chant and dance.

• After the material has been taught a video will be posted on Google Classroom.

• Participants will be allowed to video instructors after the material has been taught.

CHS TRYOUT DAY• Tryout in groups of 3. • You will not be allowed to watch each other tryout. • Each group will do the chant, cheer, band dance, & group dance together. • The group will showcase their standing tumbling & jumps together in

their groups of 3 one at at time. • Stunting will be judged during tryout week.

Upon completion of tryouts on March 9th, the coaches will make decisions and will post the results on the website within 2-4 hours after tryouts end.

TEAM SELECTION•Coaches are evaluating skills all 5 days of tryouts

•Coaches are evaluating technical skills, quality of movements,

execution of chant, execution of all choreography learned, crowd

leadership skills & enthusiasm

•All District Cheer staff will attend final evaluation on Friday

•Coaches make the final decision

•Inquiries about tryout decisions will need to wait until the Monday after tryouts. (Contact person is Katherine Tripp)

SPRING PRACTICES AND OTHER SPRING EVENTS• Saturday Stunt Clinic April 7th and May 19th@ WCA • Physicals through the School - Saturday, April 14 8am - 12pm in

CHS Field House • Practices High School: Mon-Thurs during 7th period @ CFA

North & South: Every Wed. 3:45- 5:30 @CFA

• Spirit Squad Cookout- April, 24th 4pm - 6pm CHS Courtyard

Ad Meeting (High School only)- May 8, 7th period until 5pm

CHS CHEER SUMMER PRACTICES

•No practices for CHS Cheer until July 30th

•July 30-August 9th (Do not schedule anything Mon-Thursday during this

time)

•All cheer practices are mandatory

North and South CHEER SUMMER PRACTICES• Practice on May 30th, June 6 & 13, July 11 & 18

• 9am - 11am in the CFA gym

• Must attend 3 of 5 summer practices

CHEER CAMP WEEK AND FRENZY PRACTICE- MANDATORY

•JULY 30th- August - August 3rd- There will be day and night time activities

•WCA Home Camp

•CHS- $270 North and South $300

•Frenzy Practice Week - August 6-9 (evening practices)

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHEERNEW - $550-$650 RETURNER - $500-$600

REQUIRED COSTS WILL BE DIVIDED INTO 4 PAYMENTS

Payments: March 26th, May 1st, July 30th, Aug 27th

• IF PAYMENTS OR OTHER ARRANGEMENTS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE, THE CHEERLEADER MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.

• ALTERNATIVE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE BY CONTACTING THE COACHES.

• Credit Card payment can be made on the Cabot School District website

North and South Financial ResponsibilityNEW - $550-$600 RETURNER - $450-$550

This includes the camp and supply fees.

REQUIRED COSTS WILL BE DIVIDED INTO 4 PAYMENTS

Payments: March 14th, May 8th (Camp), July 30th and August 29th (supplies)

Camp payments must be made before the 1st day of Camp.

CHEER FUNDRAISERS-REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION

High School Cheerleaders will sell ads for the Football Program & host a youth cheer clinic during

Basketball Season

North sponsors the CFA dance

South sells programs at home CHS football games and sponsors the South student/faculty ballgames

CAPTAINS & CO-CAPTAINS These Positions will be selected by the COACHES.

High School: Each squad member who wishes to be considered for a captain position must submit an essay stating why she/he wants a

leadership position and feels she/he is qualified, and must have had at least one year of Varsity experience.

North and South: Returning members will fill out a survey on their desire to be considered for a leadership position.
