Message from our 2019 Board President

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This year Neighborhood House celebrates 125 years of providing quality, affordable day care and support services for children and adults. In 1894 our founder, Emma McVicker, saw that “there were little children to be fed and clothed - children of the poor and unfortunate, adrift upon the streets, needing care and guidance.” Today we celebrate and expand upon the vision and leadership of Emma McVicker.

The August move into Phase I of the new children’s center was the highlight of the year. This building will allow us to serve an additional 100 children. It will also serve as a resource for the community with an expanded food pantry, a new cyber center, and spaces for the community to gather. There is a discovery playground and creative spaces for the children to explore the arts and sciences in a hands-on, exciting environment.

Looking forward, we are excited for the 2020 completion of Phase II of the new building. This phase will be for our adult clients and will include intergenerational gardens and will accommodate an additional 20 adult clients.

We continue our mission to enrich, empower and educate children and adults through quality affordable day care and support services through the generosity of our thoughtful donors and friends. Thank you to our clients, staff, board members and partners for your impact on our community.
