changing healthcare projects. I am so very proud of the work that we have done this year and the lives we have touched across this very special community of Peterborough.
We are honoured to be growing our partnerships with the Peterborough Butterfly Run as well as H.O.P.E. through their annual Gaskell Memorial Cup and seeing a community come together to share their common experiences. While we celebrate these moments, we know there is so much more we can do to make positive impacts on the health and wellness of the people of Peterborough City & County. Together we make a difference in bridging those gaps in care. Laura Kennedy, Executive Director
Reflecting on the accomplishments of the past year, my heart swells with pride with all the Foundation has accomplished through the tremendous efforts of our Board of Directors, volunteers, sponsors, donors, staff, and partners at Peterborough Family Health Team. To all – thank you!
The face of a little girl recovering from a life-threatening illness at our Montreal Canadiens Alumni Game overcome by a gift we were able to bestow on her. The mothers that had lost their beautiful babies running through their tears at the Peterborough Butterfly Run. The heartbreaking story of struggle with an NHL career-ending concussion shared by Marc Savard. The heartfelt gratitude in the eyes of community partners when we were able to confirm our financial support of vital life-

Over 1,000 in Attendance for the 2nd Annual Peterborough Butterfly Run
GPHSF, Your Family Health Team Foundation was proud to be the charitable partner once again with the Butterfly Run Executive Committee and the Partners in Pregnancy Clinic to host the 2nd Annual Peterborough Butterfly Run on April 29 at Millennium Park. Attendance was double the inaugural event in 2017 with over 1,000 participating; 575 runners took part in the chip-timed 5km race and 265 participated in the free 1km Memorial Walk. Together, $62,500 was raised at 2018’s event to support individuals and families who have experienced a loss during pregnancy, the loss of a child, or are unable to conceive. Funds raised are dedicated to creating resources & support for these individuals and families, as well as for educational opportunities for local healthcare providers in order to better meet patient needs.
Hosted by Angela Rose and 75 volunteers, the run included a warm up with Elke Johnson of Joha Yoga and a few words from community partners Tracy Condon of Partners in Pregnancy and our Board Chair, Todd Sargent. Runners enjoyed complimentary bagels & snacks at the finish line. Mark your calendars for the next Peterborough Butterfly Run on Sunday, April 28, 2019.

Former NHL-centreman Marc Savard was special guest & honourary captain at the 7th Annual Gaskell Memorial Cup on March 24 at the Evinrude Centre. Organized by H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Participate Equally) in memory of their dear friend Kirk Gaskell who lost his battle with cancer in 2012, the event partnered with Your Family Health Team Foundation in 2018 raising $25,000 in support of the Youth Sports Concussion Awareness Program that furthers awareness and education to ensure all concussions are taken seriously. Montréal Canadiens Alumni Face Off Against Peterborough Quacks to Raise $27,000
Habs fans from across the City & County joined us on November 10, 2017 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre to watch some of Montréal’s most beloved alumni take on the Peterborough Quacks, a team of local physicians. $27,000 thanks to title sponsor Health Care Relocations.
At the pre-game VIP Reception hosted by Wolfe Lawyers, fans enjoyed a complimentary poutine sample and Caesar drink, an acoustic set by Kate Suhr and had an opportunity to get autographs at a meet & greet with Keith Acton, Arron Asham, Patrice Brisebois, John Chabot, Gilbert Delorme, Jocelyn Lemieux, Ric Nattress, Chris Nilan, Oleg Petrov, Stéphane Richer, John Scott, and legendary Canadiens goalie Richard Sévigny.
On ice, fans watched the Peterborough Quacks hold their own in an 8-3 loss to the Habs Alumni. Between periods, the brave young girls from the Strong Heart campaign received Taylor Swift gift bags, doctors who helped to shape the city’s primary healthcare system were honoured, and Peterborough Hockey Association novice teams faced off for participation ribbons presented by Bob Gainey. Best Fan, Best Dressed, Most Enthusiastic Row & Best Lip Syncing walked away with some amazing prizes like game tickets and restaurant gift cards.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
YES Shelter for Youth and Families Supported by Annual Tebey Golf Classic Many thanks to all who attended and supported the 2nd Annual Tebey Golf Classic on May 30 at The Quarry helping us raise $30,000 for a new diversion program providing immediate support for youth ages 16-24 through the YES Shelter for Youth and Families. Golfers kicked off the day with a hearty southern-fried chicken buffet lunch before heading out for 18 holes—with samples of Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Fireball whiskey & a putting contest along the way—and were treated to pulled pork sandwiches delivered cart-side to each foursome before finishing their round. Both golfers and country music fans joined us in the evening for a special VIP Reception with a nacho bar, a complimentary beer courtesy of our friends at Coors Banquet and an incredible live performance by Tebey, Tim Hicks & Kira Isabella. Jay Mark and his winning foursome will be the first to see their names engraved on the new Tebey Golf Classic Cup and there were also a number of unique country music-themed live & silent auction items available to bid on. A new date and more details on 2019’s event are to come.
