CALL FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS 2018 Advancing Research in Campus Activities Grants Applicaon Deadline—September 21, 2018 at 11:59pm PST Award Noficaons Begin—October 22, 2018 Gold Scholar Award One research team will be selected for the Gold Scholar Award package. This package includes a $2,500 spend to support research acvies, paid travel to the 2020 NACA® Naonal Convenon for one research team representave, and addional consideraons. Gold Scholar Recipient Expectaons Recipients of this award are required to prepare a presentaon about their research for the 2020 NACA® Naonal Convenon. By December 1, 2019, they must also submit an execuve summary of their results, which will be promoted for naonal visibility. In addion, they will be encouraged to submit a proposal for an educaon session at one of the NACA® Regional Conferences, an NACA® webinar, and/or an educaonal session at a naonal higher educaon associaon conference or event. They will also be encouraged to submit a follow-up arcle for the Journal of Campus Acvies Pracce and Scholarship (JCAPS) and Campus Acvies Programming® magazine. Silver Scholar Award Up to two research teams will be selected for the Silver Scholar Award package. This package includes a $1,250 spend per research team to support research acvies and addional consideraons. Research proposals must focus on issue(s) related to campus acvies that are relevant to a wide audience and have implicaons for student success iniaves. Proposals must clearly arculate a strong research design that is appropriate for the research queson(s). Qualitave, quantave, and mixed-method studies will be considered. Proposed research must be original work of the research team and must not have been reported elsewhere. Proposals must comply with NACA®s Policy Statement for Conducng Research, Scholarly or Otherwise, with NACA or NACA® Members. Proposals must include an abstract of the proposed research. The members of the research team must be willing to have this informaon posted on the NACA® web- site and/or published in the Journal for Campus Acvies Pracce and Scholarship or the Campus Acvies Programming® magazine. Preferred Research Topics Special consideration will be given to proposals addressing one of the following topics related to the NACA® Research Agenda:

The role of student organization advisors in facilitating student learning and/or student success

The influence of student involvement on academic achieve-ment and/or student persistence to graduation

Ties between the development of employability skills and campus involvement

The ways in which campus activities contributes to and promotes inclusive and just campus cultures

Student learning gains from types of student involvement activities, including student organization membership, positional leadership and event planning opportunities

High-impact practices in campus activities

Preparation experiences for employment in campus activities, including graduate preparation and/or career development
