Q. Briefly describe your present responsibilities at the Southern California Edison Company. 7

A. I am a manager in the Regulatory Affairs Department. I am responsible for the Energy Resource 8

Recovery Account (ERRA) proceedings as well as balancing accounts. Prior to my current 9

position, I was a member of the General Rate Case (GRC) team responsible for providing 10

regulatory support to operating units in the development of SCE’s General Rate Cases. 11

Q. Briefly describe your educational and professional background. 12

A. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 13

psychology and also attended numerous business courses. In addition, I earned a Master’s 14

Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno. I have also earned the 15

designation of Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). In 2000, I joined SCE as a Corporate Auditor 16

within the Audit Services Department. My responsibilities included audit and advisory services 17

for business units in the areas of Transmission & Distribution, Generation, Shared Services, and 18

Regulatory Policy & Affairs, and others as required. Audit Services include the assessment of 19

corporate risk areas, adequacy of internal controls, special investigations, and the evaluation of 20

SCE compliance with regulatory requirements/directives. In 2005, I joined the Regulatory 21

Compliance/Audits & Investigations group within Regulatory Policy & Affairs where I worked 22

with external regulators during their performance of regulatory audits as well as worked without 23

internal business units to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. In 2006, I 24

transitioned to the General Rate Case group where I was responsible for preparing testimony and 25

assisting with the financial forecasts used in the proceeding. I have been in my current position 26

A. My name is Mauro G. Dresti, and my business address is 2244 Walnut Grove Avenue, 5

Rosemead, California 91770. 6

Q. Briefly describe your present responsibilities at the Southern California Edison Company (SCE). 7

A. I am currently a Senior Manager of Demonstration and Pilot Development and Execution within 8

SCE’s Customer Programs and Services Department. As such, I am responsible for executing 9

customer-side studies and pilots and, if the study or pilot concludes favorably, hand it off to the 10

program implementation team for program development and deployment. This includes 11

responsibility for SCE’s Charge Ready electric vehicle charging pilot and future Charge Ready 12

Demand Response Pilot, and SCE’s Third-Party Smart Thermostat Demand Response study and 13

program, which is currently responsible for 11.4 MW of demand response. My team also 14

manages Energy Efficiency demonstrations and pilots such as the ZNE Prop39 pilot and other 15

various opportunities that are vetted through our product development process. My immediate 16

staff includes 5 program/project managers and other support staff. Additionally, my team 17

leverages other resources within and external of SCE to execute our work. 18

Q. Briefly describe your educational and professional background. 19

A. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Oakland University, 20

Rochester, Michigan, and a Technical Masters of Business Administration Degree from the 21

University of Phoenix, Diamond Bar, California. In 1983 I began working as a metrology 22

engineer for the United States Navy Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach, California. I then 23

worked as design engineer for the venture capitalized firm, Transducer Technologies Inc., in 24

Pasadena, California, developing high precision, high pressure transducers for the military, 25

energy and commercial industry market place. In 1986 I started working at SCE as a metrology 26

engineer supporting the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). From the late 80’s to 27

1998 I held several positions at SCE ranging from being a design engineer within the Shop 1

Services and Instrumentation Division, and also in the Research and Electric Transportation 2

groups, to being a program manager in various program development groups under Customer 3

Service. I hold a patent from SCE during this period for a DC ground fault locator which is an 4

instrument used to locate ground faults within industrial DC feeder systems. In 1998 I left SCE 5

and held product development and management positions at several companies until 2011. I was 6

the engineering manager for International Computer Power, Vice President of Engineering for 7

Pacific Power Source, Senior Director of Emerging Technology for Universal Electronics Inc., 8

Product manager of Emerging Technology products for Cisco-Linksys, Vice President of product 9

management for Bitcentral, and Greenfields manager for Belkin. I hold 8 patents during this 10

period mostly in home automation and graphical user interface design. In 2011 I started working 11

again at SCE as the program manager of Emerging Markets and Technology. In 2013 I was 12

promoted to a senior manager of new program development for the mass market segment. In 13

2016 I attained my current position of senior manager of Demonstrations and Pilots. I have not 14

previously testified before the California Public Utilities Commission. 15

Q. What is the purpose of your testimony in this proceeding? 16

A. The purpose of my testimony in this proceeding is to sponsor portions of SCE’s direct testimony, 17

A. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from University of California, Los Angeles and a 12

Master’s in Business Administration from University of Southern California. I have worked at 13

Edison for over 18 years, 14 years in the Customer Service Finance Department 6 years as a 14

Senior Financial Analyst and the remaining as a Manager of Budgets & Cost Controls. Prior to 15

taking my current position in March, 2015, the remaining time at SCE was as a Project Manager 16

in the QC and Compliance group. I have previously testified before the California Public 17

Utilities Commission. 18

Verne California for nearly seven years. I have served on the Evaluation Committee of 21

the Consortium for Energy Efficiency for the past twelve years. I have authored and co-22

responsible for planning and directing study design and resources for various 25

I began working as a generation design engineer for Public Service Company of New Mexico in 15

Construction Department and progressed to senior engineer in 1992 working in the Transmission 17

and Distribution Business Unit. I became a project manager in 1994 and began working on 18

metering in 1997 in the Customer Service Business Unit at the start of Direct Access. I was 19
