Sexton is just the 3rd rookie in NBA history to average at least 16.0 PPG, while shooting .400+ from beyond the arc and .800+ from the free throw line (Larry Bird in 1979-80 and Stephen Curry in 2009-10). COLLIN SEXTON was the only Cavalier and one of 3 NBA rookies this season to appear in all 82 games. He is the 8th Cavs rookie to ever accomplish that feat and the first since Andre Miller in 1999-2000. Sexton also became the 2nd Cavs rookie to average at least 16.0 points and play in 82 contests (Ron Harper in 1986-87) and the first NBA rookie to do so since Karl Anthony-Towns (2015-16). COLLIN SEXTON scored in double-digits 73 times this season (the most among all NBA rookies this season). His 73 outings with at least 10 points ties LeBron James (73 in 2003-04) for the 2nd-most ever by a Cavs rookie, trailing only Ron Harper (80 in 1986-87). COLLIN SEXTON scored in double figures in 23 consecutive games to end the season (2/23/19-4/9/19). His streak ties Brad Daugherty (23 straight, 1/23/87 to 3/12/87) for the 5th-longest double-digit scoring streak by a Cavs rookie in team history and is the longest by a Cavs rookie since LeBron James’ 29 in 2003-04 season. The only double figure scoring streaks for a Cavs rookie ahead of Sexton are the following: Ron Harper-69 (11/1/86 to 3/21/87), LeBron James-29 twice (12/9/03 to 2/9/04, 2/18/04 to 4/14/04) and Austin Carr-29 (1/25/72-3/19/72). This season, only Trae Young (34) and Luke Doncic (26) had longer double-digit scoring streaks by a rookie. COLLIN SEXTON’s total points (1,371) this season ranked 3rd among Cavs rookies in franchise history, trailing only Ron Harper (1,874 PTS) and LeBron James (1,654 PTS). His scoring average (16.7) was the 5 th -highest ever recorded by a Cavs rookie (Harper-22.9, Austin Carr-21.2, James-20.9, Kyrie Irving-18.5). COLLIN SEXTON’s 119 three-pointers are the most ever by a Cavaliers rookie in a single season (prev. 73 by Kyrie Irving in 2011-12). SEXTON’S STRONG ROOKIE YEAR: The Cavs’ No. 8 pick of the 2018 NBA Draft, Collin Sexton, was the only Cavalier to appear in all 82 games (72 starts)

and averaged 16.7 points (3rd-best among rookies), 2.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists (5th among rookies) in 31.8 minutes per game. He also ranked 1st among rookies in free throw percentage (.839) and 2nd in three-point percentage (.402, 18th-best in entire NBA), while scoring in double-digits 73 times, including 27 20+ point outings.

• 3rd NBA ROOKIE EVER: Sexton became just the 3rd rookie in league history to average at least 16.0 PPG, while shooting .400+ from beyond the

arc and .800+ from the foul line (Larry Bird in 1979-80 and Stephen Curry in 2009-10).

• 26TH NBA ROOKIE EVER: With his 100th three-pointer (made on 3/22), Sexton became the 26th rookie in NBA history to have 1,000 points and

100 threes in a single season.

• EVERY GAME: Sexton played in all 82 games for the Cavs this season, becoming the 8th Cavs rookie to ever accomplish that feat and the first since

Andre Miller in 1999-2000. Only two other rookies in 2018-19 have played in each of their team’s games: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (LAC) and Mikal Bridges (PHX). Sexton also became the 2nd Cavs rookie to average at least 16.0 points and play in 82 contests (Ron Harper in 86-87) and the first NBA rookie to do so since Karl Anthony-Towns (15-16).

• SINCE FEBRUARY 5: Over the last 29 games of the season (since Feb. 5), Sexton averaged 21.1 points, a .417 (70-168) clip from three-point range,

2.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 35.5 minutes, increasing his season scoring average from 14.3 to 16.7 PPG on the season.

• 20-POINT STREAK: After scoring at least 20 points in 8 straight games (3/8-3/22), Sexton became just the 2nd Cavs rookie ever to record 8

consecutive 20+ point games, joining Ron Harper (13 games, 2/25/87-3/20/87). His 8 straight 20-point games was also tied for the longest streak by any rookie in the NBA this season (Trae Young, 8).

• 23-POINT STREAK: Sexton scored at least 23 points in 7 straight games from March 8-20, becoming the first rookie in Cavaliers history to

accomplish that feat. The previous high mark was held by Austin Carr with 6 straight games with 23+ points in 1972 (2/20/72-3/4/72). Prior to Sexton, the last NBA rookie to score at least 23 points in seven straight games was Tim Duncan (7 games, 4/6/98-4/19/98).

• 25 POINTS/0 TURNOVERS IN BACK-TO-BACK GAMES: From March 11-12, Collin Sexton posted consecutive games with at least 25

points and zero turnovers, becoming the first Cavaliers rookie to ever accomplish that feat. He is also only the 4th rookie in NBA history to score 25+ points and commit zero turnovers in back-to-back games, joining Brandon Rush (March 2009), Maurice Taylor (Jan. 1998) and James Edwards (March 1978).

• SEXTON STACKS UP: Check out how Sexton’s numbers compared to other notable rookies around the league this season.

• FIRST OF HIS CAREER: At Oklahoma City on 11/28, Sexton recorded his 1st career double-double with 21 points, a career-high 10 rebounds, three

assists and one steal in 38 minutes. Sexton became the first Cavs rookie to post at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in a game since March 19, 2012 when Tristan Thompson accomplished that feat (27 PTS, 12 REB vs. Nets).

• ANOTHER ONE: In the final game of the season, Sexton recorded his 2nd career double-double with a team-high 18 points and a career-best 10 assists

in 38 minutes of work. He is the first Cavs rookie with a points-assists double-double since Matthew Dellavedova in 2013-14 (3 times).

• 23 IN A ROW: Sexton scored in double figures in 23 consecutive games to end the season (2/23/19-4/9/19). His streak ties Brad Daugherty (23 straight,

BENCH LIFT: After Cleveland’s reserves

averaged a franchise-record 41.2 points in 2017-18, the Cavs’ reserves broke that mark by putting up 42.6 points per game in 2018-19 (6th-highest in NBA). The bench posted 40+ points 50 times, 50+ points 20 times, 60+ points five times, 70+ points twice and 80+ points once (83 vs. BKN on 2/13/19).

• A FIRST SINCE NOVEMBER 2010: From Oct. 19-Nov. 3 and March 18-April 1, the Cavs’

reserves tallied at least 40 points in 8 consecutive games. Prior to this season, the last time they accomplished that feat was a 9-game stretch in November 2010 (11/5/10-11/23/10). (Elias Sports Bureau)

• SECOND TIME EVER: According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Cavs’ four straight contests

• BUNCH OF BENCH POINTS: On Jan. 9 against New Orleans, the Cavaliers’ bench poured in

75 points, which was their most bench points in a single-game since Feb. 2, 2002 (76 vs. DET). Cleveland topped that mark with a season-high 83 bench points in a triple-overtime game against Brooklyn on 2/13/19, their 2nd-highest total in franchise history.

INSTANT SCORER: Jordan Clarkson led the

Cavs’ bench this season, averaging a career-high 16.8 points (3rd-best among all NBA reserves), a .844 mark from the foul line, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 27.3 minutes per game. He scored in double-digits 72 times (MOST among all NBA reserves), including 25 20-point outings and one 30+ performance (42 vs. BKN on 2/13/19). He tied his career high with 3 consecutive contests with 20+ points from Jan. 5-9 and Mar. 30- Apr. 4 (1/19/18-1/23/18 & 2/10/16-2/21/16).

double-double of the season (5th of career) with 20 points, a career-high 11 rebounds and four assists in 28 minutes off the bench. He became the first Cavs bench player to post 20+ points and 10+ boards in less than 30 minutes since 4/16/14, when Tyler Zeller did it vs. Brooklyn (22 PTS, 11 REB, 26 MIN).

• MOST POINTS BY A RESERVE IN TEAM HISTORY: Against Brooklyn on 2/13/19,

Clarkson tallied a career-high 42 points, including a season-high seven three-point field goals (7-17), eight rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in 48 minutes. Clarkson’s 42 points were the most by a bench player in franchise history (prev. 37 points by Phil Hubbard on 12/4/84). It was also his first career 40-point performance, as well as the most points scored by a Cavs player in any game this season.

• 1,300 BENCH POINTS: With his 6th point against Phoenix on 4/1/19, Clarkson reached 1,300 points for the 2018-19 season. It was the 19th time a player scored

1,300+ points off the bench in a season since the NBA first noted starters on official box scores in 1970-71.

TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK: In 2018-19, the Cavs ranked 9th in the NBA at 13.5 turnovers per game. They have recorded fewer than 10 turnovers on 15

occasions this season.

• FIRST TEAM TO DO IT TWICE: The Cavs recorded only 3 turnovers in a game twice this season (vs. LAL on 11/21/18 and at POR 1/16/19),

becoming the first team since the NBA began compiling team turnovers on box scores in 1970-71 to have 3 turnovers on two or more occasions in a single season. (Elias)

CLEVELAND TO HOST NBA ALL-STAR 2022 AND COMMEMORATE THE LEAGUE’S 75th ANNIVERSARY CLEVELAND, Nov. 1, 2018 – The NBA announced that Cleveland has been selected to host NBA All-Star 2022, when the league will be commemorating its 75th anniversary. The 71st NBA All-Star Game will take place at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, home of the Cleveland Cavaliers, on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022. The Cavaliers previously hosted NBA All-Star in 1997, when the NBA celebrated its 50th anniversary, and in 1981. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement on Nov. 1 during a press conference at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, where he was joined by Cavaliers Chairman Dan Gilbert, Cavaliers and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse CEO Len Komoroski, Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson, Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish and U.S. Representative, Eleventh Congressional District of Ohio, Marcia Fudge. “Cleveland is a passionate sports city with a proven track record of hosting large-scale, global events,” said Silver. “We thank Dan Gilbert, Len Komoroski and the civic leaders for their commitment, and we look forward to a weeklong celebration of our game.” With the current, large-scale arena renovations underway that will be completed in advance of NBA All-Star 2022, the game and extended activities in the transformed Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will offer fans an enhanced experience. “We are proud to host NBA All-Star weekend in Cleveland in 2022,” said Gilbert. “We have been working with the NBA, the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County to deliver this iconic event to Northeast Ohio for the last couple of years. The transformation and new state-of-the-art Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse was an important factor in the NBA’s decision to choose Cleveland for this exciting classic broadcast across the globe. The world will get to see the modern Cleveland and all of its diversity, innovation and promise for the future.” “Along with the excitement and appreciation for the NBA selecting Cleveland and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to host NBA All-Star 2022, we want to extend a big ‘thanks’ to our local partners at Destination Cleveland and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, and our City, County and Civic leaders,” said Komoroski. “Their support and energy to always demonstrate what we as a community do best is at the core of bringing these major events to our city. We have a great partnership that will deliver an experience fitting for the NBA All-Star global spotlight. We thank the NBA for their confidence in this collective group, and we will put forth the focus and commitment to ensure that the players, fans, corporate partners, media and all who visit have an extraordinary experience in Cleveland and at the transformed Q in 2022.” “The City of Cleveland is pleased to host NBA All-Star 2022,” said Mayor Jackson. “Our city is no stranger to hosting successful, large, global events. It is a good opportunity, once again, for visitors to come to Cleveland and experience all we have to offer.” “This is great news for Cleveland and Cuyahoga County,” said Budish. “When we made the decision to invest in the transformation of The Q, we were aiming for exactly this kind of result. I am thrilled to see the NBA All-Star Game coming in 2022 with an expected $100 million economic impact to our region. Once again, our city and county will shine on the national and international stage and our businesses and residents will reap the rewards.” NBA All-Star on-court events will tip off on Friday, Feb. 18 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse with MTN DEW ICE Rising Stars, an annual showcase for top rookies and second-year NBA players. On Feb. 19, State Farm All-Star Saturday Night will feature the Taco Bell Skills Challenge and the Three-Point and Slam Dunk contests. NBA All-Star 2022 will culminate with the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 20. The NBA will host several events for fans of all ages at venues throughout the city, including The Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University and Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. These events, including NBA All-Star Practice and the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game presented by Ruffles, will feature basketball programming and entertainment for fans as well as up-close access to NBA players, legends and celebrities. The league will also continue to celebrate its tradition and commitment to social responsibility with a full schedule of NBA Cares events during NBA All-Star 2022. Through partnerships with schools, government and local nonprofit organizations in Cleveland and surrounding areas, the league will reach thousands of children and families and provide critical resources to community-based programs. In 2022, the NBA All-Star Game will be televised in prime time on TNT for the 20th consecutive year, marking Turner Sports’ 37th year of NBA All -Star coverage. The game will be broadcast worldwide in 215 countries and territories and in 50 languages.

NBA ALL-STAR HISTORY IN CLEVELAND Cleveland last hosted NBA All-Star in 1997, when the league celebrated its 50th anniversary season. The NBA’s 50 Greatest Players were honored during a ceremony at halftime of the All-Star Game. The 1997 NBA All-Star Game featured a historic performance from Charlotte Hornets forward Glen Rice, who set an All-Star record for points in a quarter with 20 in the third period. Rice finished with 26 points to lead the Eastern Conference past the Western Conference 132-120, earning MVP honors. Also at NBA All-Star 1997, Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard Kobe Bryant won the Slam Dunk Contest, Chicago Bulls guard Steve Kerr triumphed in the Three-Point Contest and Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Allen Iverson was named MVP of Rising Stars. The Cavaliers also hosted NBA All-Star 1981, at Richfield Coliseum, the team’s home from 1974-94. Behind MVP Tiny Archibald of the Boston Celtics, the East defeated the West 123-120.
