March 13, 2018 Dear Parents and Community Members: We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2017-18 educational progress for the Bullock Creek Middle School. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, accountability, and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Curt Moses for assistance. The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following web site http://www.bcreek.org, or you may review a copy in the main office at your child’s school. For the 2017-18 school year, schools were identified using new definitions and labels as required in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). A Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) school is one that has at least one underperforming student subgroup. An Additional Targeted Support (ATS) school is one that has three or more underperforming student subgroups. A Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) school is one whose performance is in the lowest 5% of all schools in the state or has a graduation rate at or below 67%. Some schools are not identified with any of these labels. In these cases, no label is given. Our school has not been identified or been given any label. Bullock Creek Middle School continues to work on improving reading, writing and mathematics scores by offering intervention opportunities to identified students. Bullock Creek Middle School continues to follow our school improvement plan, which is designed to focus on literacy and mathematics. State law requires that we also report additional information.
1. PROCESS FOR ASSIGNING PUPILS TO THE SCHOOL Bullock Creek Middle School has open enrollment. We accept Schools of Choice students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Parents wishing to enroll their student must apply through the Bullock Creek Central Administration Office and must follow all district policies regarding the Schools of Choice application.
2. THE STATUS OF THE 3-5 YEAR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN Bullock Creek Middle School continues to work on our math, reading and social emotional goals as outlined in our school improvement plan. All baseline data was gathered from the 2011 MEAP. Our goal is to increase standardized test score performance in Mathematics, Reading and Writing. For the past 5 school years we have show growth in these two areas. During the 2014/15 school year, the State of Michigan transitioned from the MEAP test to the M-STEP test, as a tool to monitor student performance. An exact student performance comparison between these tests is difficult. As compared to the state average on the MSTEP test, Bullock Creek Middle School

3. A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF EACH SPECIALIZED SCHOOL Bullock Creek Middle School is not classified as a specialized school.
4. IDENTIFY HOW TO ACCESS A COPY OF THE CORE CURRICULUM, A DESCRIPTION OF ITS IMPLEMENTATION AND AN EXPLANATION OF THE VARIANCES FROM THE STATE’S MODEL Bullock Creek Middle School has implemented the National Core Curriculum. 5. THE AGGREGATE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT RESULTS FOR THE ACT EXPLORE TEST WITH RESULTS SHOWN FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS. THE ACT EXPLORE WAS GIVEN TO ALL 8TH GRADE STUDENTS IN MARCH OF THE BELOW LISTED SCHOOL YEARS.

6. IDENTIFY THE NUMBER AND PERCENT OF STUDENTS REPRESENTED BY PARENTS AT PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES There were approximately 430 students enrolled at Bullock Creek Middle School throughout the 2017-18 school year. At the fall 2017 parent/teacher conferences, 45% of the students were represented by parent(s) or guardian(s). During the spring 2017 parent and teacher conferences, 26% of the students were represented by parent(s) or guardian(s).
Bullock Creek Middle School is full of energy, excitement, learning opportunities and wonderful students. During the 2017-18 school year, we had approximately 430 students in grades 6-8. There were sports offered to students for boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, wrestling, cross country, track and girls volleyball. 25 teachers work diligently each day throughout the school to create a positive learning experience for all students. Bullock Creek Middle School is designed to meet the needs of middle school students. A middle school is a special place in which students experience the transition from childhood to preadolescence in human development. The school’s programs recognize the physical, emotional and educational needs of these students and serve as a bridge from the self-contained elementary classroom to the departmentalized programs at the high school. We understand the nature of this transition and work to meet the changing needs of our students.
