For Music Programmes offered by Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, applicants are required to submit a separate application to the Conservatory. An audition will be conducted for shortlisted applicants and applicants will be informed separately.

ADMISSION TO NUSENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTInternational students must be proficient in the English Language as this is the language of instruction at the University. Upon accepting the University’s offer of admission, international students who do not meet the minimum level of English proficiency will be required to sit for the Qualifying English Test set by the Centre for English Language Communication. For information on Qualifying English Test and exemption, please visit nus.edu.sg/registrar/event/registration-qet.html

SUBMISSION OF ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONSApplicants should refer to Qualifications & Admission Requirements (page 5 and 6) of this prospectus to check if you are required to submit additional tests/qualifications in addition to the high school qualification that you are using to apply for admissions. Additional tests/qualifications include standardised English Language test scores as well as ACT with Writing/SAT, and SAT Subject Tests scores. Applicants may submit ACT with Writing in lieu of SAT.

ACT WITH WRITINGThe ACT consists of five sections: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science and Writing Test (Optional). The minimum acceptable composite score for consideration by NUS is 29; with writing component score of 27. For applicants who are submitting ACT in lieu of SAT, the writing component is compulsory.

For the ACT, all sections (inclusive of writing) have to be taken in one sitting. Combination of section scores from different sittings is not accepted. The validity of ACT scores is five years.

SATThe SAT (offered up to 29 February 2016) consists of three sections, Critical Reading, Writing and Mathematics. The redesigned SAT (offered from March 2016) consists of two sections, Evidence-Based Reading & Writing, and Mathematics. All sections for the SAT have to be taken in one sitting. Combination of section scores from different sittings is not accepted.

SAT SUBJECT TESTSApplicants are required to submit three subject tests as follows:

• Mathematics Level 2*• A second subject of your choice (excluding Mathematics Level 1)• A third subject of your choice (excluding Mathematics Level 1)

*Mathematics Level 2 is a compulsory subject for all courses except Law. Applicants applying for admission to Law may take any subject, including Mathematics Level 1, in lieu of Mathematics Level 2.

For SAT Subject Tests, NUS accepts the score for three subjects that are taken within two sittings over 12 months. The second and third subject should be chosen based on the subject prerequisites of the courses you are applying for. For example, if you are applying for Chemical Engineering, you will need to choose Physics and Chemistry. If you are applying for Business Administration, you may choose any two subjects except Mathematics Level 1. No minimum Subject Test scores are stipulated.

UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (UEE)The University Entrance Examination is conducted for applicants presenting selected academic qualifications to assess their suitability for admission.

Shortlisted candidates will be considered for admission based on their performance at the UEE and at the sole discretion of the University. Unless invited, candidates will not be allowed to take or appeal to take the UEE. The UEE will be conducted in February/March in Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore.

NUS offers undergraduate scholarships in recognition of your outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities and special talents. As an international applicant, you will automatically be considered for the following scholarships (there is no need to submit an application). If shortlisted, you will be notified to attend an interview.

FINANCING YOUR UNIVERSITY EDUCATIONIf you require financial assistance for your university education, our Financial Aid schemes can help meet part of your educational and living expenses in the form of loans, bursaries and work-study opportunities. Financial aid applications are available online from mid-October to 1 April each year.

TUITION FEES AND TUITION GRANTThe Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) offers a tuition grant to most International students. If you apply and are approved for the tuition grant, you will need to pay only subsidised fees, depending on your nationality and course of study. While there is no repayment required for the tuition grant, non-Singapore citizens in receipt of this grant is required to undertake a service bond by working for a Singapore-registered company for three years upon completion of your undergraduate degrees so as to discharge your obligation to the Singapore public for subsidising your university education. nus.edu.sg/registrar/edu/UG/fees.html

ESTIMATED LIVING EXPENSESFull-time international undergraduate students will incur on average S$10,000 of living expenses per year. The costs have been derived based on a conservative estimate of expenses required for a comfortable lifestyle on campus. nus.edu.sg/oam/financialaid/financial-tuition-fees.html

FINANCIAL AID CALCULATIONThe loan quantum for students on tuition grant is based on the tuition fee rate for Singapore Citizens, e.g. the subsidised tuition fee payable for a Singaporean and an international Engineering undergraduate student on tuition grant in the academic year 2016 is S$8,050 and S$17,100 per annum respectively. The TFL quantum for an eligible international Engineering undergraduate student would be up to 90% of S$8,050.

Online application opens in mid-October with different closing dates for different qualifications. Submit an online application at the Admissions website and pay application fee.

BY 1 APRILSubmit an online application for financial aid if you require financial aid.

BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND MARCHShortlisted applicants of selected qualifications will sit for the University Entrance Examination (UEE).

DURING APRILShortlisted applicants of selected courses will attend admissions tests and/or interviews in Singapore.

BETWEEN MAY AND JULYAdmission outcome will be released during this period. If you are successful, you will receive an email notification. You will also be informed of your financial aid application status.
