All of the Orientation Leaders (OLs) are excited
to meet you this summer, and we hope
you’ll visit www.udel.edu/students/nso/
about to meet the OLs before your arrival for
International Student Orientation.
When is ISO?International Student Orientation takes place on Thursday, August
24th and Friday, August 25th. Attendance on both days is required.
How Do I Sign Up for ISO?Once you’ve submitted your deposit, log into your My Blue Hen
Home portal and click on the “Register for International Student
Orientation” link. Once the registration form opens, read the
instructions, and most importantly, select the listed date.
What Happens at ISO?ISO will take place in the Trabant University Center (located at 17
West Main St., Newark, DE, 19716) on both Thursday, August 24th
and Friday, August 25th. On Thursday, the Welcome Session will start
promptly at 8:30 a.m. so plan to arrive at the Trabant University
Center between 7:45-8:15 a.m. to complete check in and enjoy a light
breakfast (i.e., bagles, muffins, fruit, tea) before the program begins.
On Friday, August 25th you will need to complete the mandatory
government check-in with the Office of International Students and
Scholars (OISS) at 8:00 a.m. ISO will end by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday,
August 24th and by 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25th.
At ISO, you will:
Meet and connect with other new Blue Hens!
Attend sessions about student life at UD facilitated by UD
students and staff, providing answers to your questions about
topics such as US culture, housing, student activities, and safety
Learn about important immigration and documentation
requirements for all international students
Gain important academic information from your college
Experience campus dining by eating in the Trabant Food Court
Learn about UD’s values and mission, and most importantly, what
it means to be a Blue Hen!
While you’re on campus, you can also
set up a bank account with PNC Bank,
take a campus tour, and buy UD gear
from the bookstore!
2017NEWSLETTER
W ELCOME TO DELAWARE! We’re so excited that you’ve decided to become a
Blue Hen at the University of Delaware and on behalf of the entire New Student
Orientation staff, congratulations!
To ease your transition to UD, we require that all new international students attend
International Student Orientation (ISO). ISO is a two day program that will introduce you
and your family to our campus community, provide opportunities to connect with your new
classmates and current UD students, and, most importantly, welcome you to UD!
This newsletter details the important information you need to know about ISO and a checklist
of tasks to complete prior to your arrival on campus. In addition, there is information about a
variety of campus resources and how to make travel arrangements for ISO.
We look forward to meeting you this summer, and we encourage you to contact us
at [email protected] or (302) 831-3313 if you have any questions prior
to ISO. You can also visit the NSO website at www.udel.edu/students/nso or the Office of
International Students & Scholars (OISS) website at www.udel.edu/oiss.
Sincerely,
Heather A. Maginnis Ravi Ammigan,
