SETTING THE SCENE: BLAZE VS. CHARLOTTE HOUNDS
GAME INFORMATION DATE: Saturday, June 3, 2017 LOCATION: Kennesaw, GA STADIUM: Fifth Third Bank Stadium FACEOFF: 8 p.m. (EST) BROADCAST: Lax Sports Network All-Time Series: 0-2 2016 Series: 0-2 THE MATCHUP
The Atlanta Blaze faces off against the Charlotte Hounds after losing both matchups
in 2016. Both teams are coming into the game after a weekend off due to Memorial
Day, but the Hounds picked up a 10 to 8 win over the Ohio Machine in their last
game action. The Blaze’s defense will be challenged once again by Hounds
attackmen Ryan Brown and newly acquired Matt Rambo. However, Adam Ghitelman
and company are holding opponents to just over 12 goals per game and the defense
is set to only improve with the acquisition of two talented defenders – Garrett Epple
and Christian Burgdorf – via the collegiate draft.
HEAD COACH DAVID HUNTLEY
David Huntley is in his second season as Head Coach of the Atlanta Blaze, after
resuming coaching duties amidst the 2016 season. Coach Huntley was the director of
the 2014 World Champion Canadian Men’s National Team and has coached Team
Canada in the World Championships five times. Huntley has spent 10 seasons
coaching in the NLL and 6 seasons coaching MLL. Coach Huntley is a member of the
John Hopkins (his alma mater) All-Time Team as well as a Hall of Fame inductee.
Huntley also holds residency in the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, National US Lacrosse
Hall of Fame and Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
