Girls will be selling the 6 Core that customers know and love. The Thin Mint, which is vegan, the samoa, tagalongs, do-si-dos, savannah smiles and trefoils. No different than last year. Did you know the Thin Mint cookies has been vegan for 3 years? Neither do our customers; the taste is the same as the years prior but what a great selling tool for our girls who have customers looking for a vegan cookie. These 6 cookies will be priced at $4 per box Little Brownie has worked to remove all Partially Hydrogenated Oils from all of their cookies; another great selling point.

Presentation Notes
Typically we don’t like the word NO, but when it comes to Girl Scout S’mores, no is a good thing. There are lots of no’s that help expand our reach to a new generation of cookie buyer and sellers. Moms are looking for food items that don’t have artificial colors or flavors for their kids, and this cookie does just that. This cookie meets the “clean food” standards; just like you hear in commercials about Panera and Subway. If we were looking to put this cookie on the shelves of a store, and of course we’re not, won’t be; this cookie meets all the industry standards that it COULD be sold at whole foods. And that’s just another cool selling point to an already amazing cookie!

Presenter
Presentation Notes
The order card has some changes to help the girls and volunteers in 2016-17. The new order card includes pricing of the cookies, the 6 core and 2 specialty. Main thing to point out is that the girls and parents won’t have to write in the amount for cookies- it’s already printed on the order form.

At Little Brownie, they are fully committed to modernizing the Girl Scout Cookie Program and creating another channel to reach more customers. That’s why they were the first baker to fully integrate our powerful and exclusive order management system, eBudde, with GSUSA’s Digital Cookie. We’re proud to work with the first baker to integrate with Digital Cookie making it a viable sales channel for girls across GSCSA. Little Brownie’s website has a wealth of resources for su and troop volunteers. There are games the girls can play on a tablet, acitivities, clip art and even planning tools. We will talk about one of those in just a minute. Ebudde is our order management system and VIP etraining is the site where modules will be uploaded for volunteers to see by topic. The modules will be 3-5 minutes so that you don’t have to listen to a 25 minute presentation to get that one nugget of info.

Presentation Notes
Here is that New 4 step planner for girls and volunteers to use. This would be especially useful for new girls and volunteers! They answer a few quick questions and the planner drops in everything they need to have a successful cookie season. You can’t see it because of how small the type is but there are links within the planner, customized based on the answers given, that you can click right on them and go to that resource. Just an awesome resource for brand new troops and for that troop that maybe wants new and refreshing info to reach their goals.

Volunteer Rally Support

Program

•All SU’s will receive the LBB Cookie Rally Guide with the training materials in December.

•Supply Checklist

• Step by Step – How to Hold a Rally

• Financial Literacy Activities

• Multiple Cookie Inspired Activities

• Participation & Thank-you Certificates

• Sample Agenda & Activities

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Volunteer Rallies- It’s an event, hosted by the SU, to set girls and troops up for a successful cookie program. If a troop participates in their SU Rally they will most likely leave with tips, posters, and other fun things that they won’t have to do all on their own. Hosting a rally is one of the steps required for a SU to earn a bonus as well. SU’s are given a kit with materials and everything they need to know to host a rally. These supplies, including step by step instructions on how to hold a rally, cookie inspired activities and sample agendas, will be sent to you so that you can host a rally.

Fun Mascot Portal for Girls!

Presenter
Presentation Notes
We wanted to share a fun fact- the mascot for the 2017 cookie program is Twanda- the owl. She is so cute and under her wing is this beautiful material and she even has the 100th anniversary badge on her. Much like webkins, twanda comes with a code so girls can go to the mascot portal and enjoy activities that only girls who earn her can.

eBudde is the Little Brownie inventory management tool used by troops, SU’s, council as well as your delivery agents.

• Troops place girl cookie orders, select delivery location, place pending orders for more cookies, select booth locations all in eBudde

• Council place cookie order with bakery, can reorder additional cookies all in eBudde.

• Delivery agents can track inbound shipments and outbound deliveries all through eBudde.

Presenter
Presentation Notes
eBudde is the management tool used by troops, SU, council, and even the delivery agents. It’s the one stop shop for orders and rewards. eBudde makes ordering easier than ever! (the calculating tool is phenomonal- you can find more info about this great tool and others in the online modules we will be posting soon) Great “factual” point to share if you have someone who is reluctant to help in the cookie volunteer role for a troop.

Southern Appalachians 2017 Girl Order Card

Presenter
Presentation Notes
This is our order card for 2017! All of the rewards are accumulative up until the last row. After that there is a choice. When girls sell from 1-999 boxes they not only get the reward for the highest level but all of the ones behind it as well. That is until they reach over 999 boxes sold; as show on the last row, this is where they will have to choose one reward or another. Note that the CEO luncheon- couldn’t remember where we landed with this so I will touch base with Kathy Wednesday morning on this before training.

Rewards

Initial Order Rewards

Presenter
Presentation Notes
There are 3 ways girls can participate in the cookie program. Initial order is the first and Here are the rewards that can be earned that are specific to the initial order. Both the binder pouch and apron are adorable; even adults want the apron. They both will be shipped, to the SU, after the initial orders have been submitted. The girls can even use these at their booth sales. The rest of the rewards will be delivered after the program ends.
Page 20: 2017 Cookie Program Training Presentation Guide...Cookies Cookie is building! Samoas® Crisp cookies coated in caramel, sprinkled with toasted coconut, and striped with dark chocolaty
Presenter
Presentation Notes
There are key dates that are important to note such as when the program starts; Jan. 13th is the first day girls can take orders as well as send emails to family and friends. Cookie booth sign ups are from Jan. 24th through 27th with the first round of picks starting at 7:00 pm on Tuesday Jan. 24th. Troop opt out forms are due on February 1st and if you hosted a rally the sign in sheets are also due this date. Troop initial orders are due Feb. 1st and….
Page 21: 2017 Cookie Program Training Presentation Guide...Cookies Cookie is building! Samoas® Crisp cookies coated in caramel, sprinkled with toasted coconut, and striped with dark chocolaty
Presenter
Presentation Notes
SU orders are due in eBudde on Feb. 3rd. These dates and more can be found in your manual as well as on the thumb drive we will be sending out to you after training.
Page 22: 2017 Cookie Program Training Presentation Guide...Cookies Cookie is building! Samoas® Crisp cookies coated in caramel, sprinkled with toasted coconut, and striped with dark chocolaty
Presenter
Presentation Notes
There are 3 phases of the cookie program. The initial order phase, goal getter phase and booth sale phase. Each are vitally important to girls and troops reaching their goals.
Page 23: 2017 Cookie Program Training Presentation Guide...Cookies Cookie is building! Samoas® Crisp cookies coated in caramel, sprinkled with toasted coconut, and striped with dark chocolaty
Presenter
Presentation Notes
Phase one of the cookie program includes initial order and digital cookie. During this time girls go door to door, to parents place of work, place phone calls to friends and family as well as sending out emails through digital cookie.
Page 24: 2017 Cookie Program Training Presentation Guide...Cookies Cookie is building! Samoas® Crisp cookies coated in caramel, sprinkled with toasted coconut, and striped with dark chocolaty
Presenter
Presentation Notes
Phase 2 is the Goal Getter Phase. We know, all too well, that those black and white goal getter forms many times end up on the break room wall at a parent’s work place but they are really intended for girls to continue to sell after the initial order is turned in. Girls have huge dreams and goals and we want them to achieve them! By continuing to take orders, whether it be by door to door or otherwise-after turning in their initial orders, girls will be able to achieve the goals they’ve set.
Page 25: 2017 Cookie Program Training Presentation Guide...Cookies Cookie is building! Samoas® Crisp cookies coated in caramel, sprinkled with toasted coconut, and striped with dark chocolaty
Presenter
Presentation Notes
Phase 3 of the Cookie Program is Booths. The booth sign ups will happen for troops before the initial order is turned in so that the troop has an idea of how many extra boxes they may need to order to start their booths. Little Brownie Baker has guaranteed that all toffee tastic and smores cookie orders turned in on the initial order will be fulfilled. However, they can’t guarantee that there will be an unlimited supply at the cupboards later in the sale. You will want to think about how many toffee tastic and smores cookies you think you will need for booth sales and enter them in on the initial order. Food City is the only corporate ask that Council staff will be handling for booth locations. All other locations are to be acquired through the SU. If you are told to reach out to a corportate office please notify your experience manager as soon as possible so we can handle that ask for you. Please tell your volunteers that if they have a location in mind and would like to take care of the ask; to please let you or the booth sale manager for your SU know. This ensures that there won’t be double asks. Main reason for highlighting this particular phase- what should we do as a staff when we see girls at a booth? Say hello- ALWAYS THANK the volunteers or parents Take a picture and send to Chelsea- ask permission If able buy a box of cookies… it’s o.k if you can’t. Ask Questions to the girls…they love it.

Troop Proceeds & Bonus• Troop Proceeds

– Final PGA 1-191$.60

– Final PGA 192-227$.65

– Final PGA 228+$.70

• Opt Out of Rewards– Additional $.05

• Troop Bonus– Initial Order PGA 228+ $.05 on all packages

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Troop proceeds range from .60 cents to .70 cents based on PGA. If a junior troop or above opts out of the rewards they would add .05 cents to the level they achieve. For example- if a troop reaches a PGA of 189 they would earn .60 cents. If this same troop opts out of rewards they would earn an additional .05 cents at that level taking them to .65 cents earned per box.
Page 27: 2017 Cookie Program Training Presentation Guide...Cookies Cookie is building! Samoas® Crisp cookies coated in caramel, sprinkled with toasted coconut, and striped with dark chocolaty

SU Bonus• Cookie Rally $.01 box sold in SU

– If a SU holds a Cookie Rally they earn $.01/box for each box sold in SU

• PGA Bonus $.04 box sold in SU– If a SU ends the sale with a SU PGA of 228+ then

the SU earns an $.04/box for each box sold in SU

Presenter
Presentation Notes
SU bonuses are calculated bases on hosting a Rally and PGA. If a SU hosts a rally they earn .01 per box sold in the SU. If the same SU reaches a PGA at the end of the sale of 228+ they would also earn an additional .04 cents taking them to a total of .05 cents per box sold in the SU. If a SU hosts a rally and doesn’t reach the end of sale PGA of 228+ they would still earn the .01 cent per box sold; just for hosting a rally.

Presentation Notes
Much like a troop has a team we encourage SU’s to have a team as well. We know how busy it is during this program and don’t want anyone getting overwhelmed. If possible split up the roles between several SU volunteers in order to manage the responsibility. If you are a one person machine; managing the sale, aquirign the booths, helping with a cupboard, or planning a rally; please let your experience manager know so that we can support you during the cookie program.

Finance Tips

Tip #1- All parents must sign a Parent Permission & responsibilities form!

Tip # 2- Each time product is transferred sign a delivery ticket!

Tip #3- Money should be collected only when product is delivered to customers!

Tip #4- Signed receipt every time money is turned in .

Tip #5- Set deadlines.

Presenter
Presentation Notes
As always there are a few finance tips to help you have a successful cookie program. Tip 1- Cookies can only be released to the parent/guardian that signed the Parent Permission/Responsibility form Tip 2- When cookies are picked up a receipt listing the amount of product received should be signed by Volunteer and parent Tip 3- Money should only be collected when product is delivered; NEVER when taking orders. Tip 4- Receipts should show how much money was turned in and remaining balance owed for cookies they have received signed by both the parent and the volunteer Tip 5- Deadlines, Deadlines. If you say I need forms turned in in the next couple of weeks that’s too vague. Volunteers and families need to have specific dates to work with so that your SU meets it’s deadlines.

Tip #6- Outstanding Debt Collection

Tip #7- How ACH Works

Tip #8- Initial ACH

Tip #9- Final ACH Runs On March 27th

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Tip #6- Outstanding Debt Collection is going to be handled a little diffrerntly this year. Girls will not be penalized for non-payment. What we mean by this is, if a parent doesn’t turn in money, we will work that out with the parent. The girls funds that she earned will not be taken from the troop. It’s not the girls fault that there is outstanding debt. Remember, without those parent permission forms we can’t work to recover payment from parents and this is when the troop would be responsible for that debt. Tip #7- ACH pulls money from the troop bank account twice during the cookie program. The initial ACH is for $1 per box and the final ACH is for the remainder of the money on March 27th.
