WELCOME TO THE INAUGURAL ARMADALE WRITERS’ FESTIVAL, WHICH RUNS PARALLEL TO THE 2017 ARMADALE ARTS FESTIVAL.

The City is very proud to be hosting this two day community festival which celebrates writing and literature in its many forms, and provides a platform to inspire readers and create a place where writers can connect with the community.

Whether it’s contemporary fiction, poetry, short stories, children’s literature, or nonfiction, the importance and power of reading and writing can never be underestimated.

The program has a good mix of established and emerging voices, featuring author talks, a poetry slam, kids’ workshop, discussion panel, and for those that enjoy a good debate, the chance to talk with a variety of celebrated authors.

Our vision is for the Armadale Writers’ Festival to establish a reputation as a great literary event, that we can build on year after year and engage more readers, and writers in the region.

We invite you to take the time to attend as many events as you can and hope that you find inspiration from our West Australian authors, who will provoke, inspire and offer their unique take and perspectives on the world of literature.

I hope you enjoy the engaging program of activities throughout the Armadale Writers’ Festival – a celebration of the vitality of thought and creativity.

Renae Kaye is a lover and hoarder of books. She consumed her first adult romance book at the tender age of thirteen and hasn’t stopped since. After years – and thousands of stories! – of not having book characters do what she wants, she decided she would write her own novel and found the characters still didn’t do what she wanted.

Renae lives in Perth, Western Australia. She is a survivor of being the youngest in a large family and believes that laughter (and a good book) can cure anything.
