Potential Stuck In Motion Bike Race Captain:
The SIM committee volunteers and all of us at United Cerebral Palsy of Cen-tral Minnesota (UCP) sincerely appreciate your participation in this exciting event. This year’s event will be held January 28, 2017 at Whitney Recreation Center from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This is our nineteenth year hosting the event and it gets better every year! So far, this event has raised $309,000 for UCP.
How does Stuck In Motion work?Teams and riders raise pledges for their participation in the event. Pledges are collected and turned in the day of the event, then we race for prizes and to raise awareness in our community.
How to be a Team Captain:
1) Notify UCP Central MN. 320-253-07652) Get your team together early. Don’t wait until the last minute, because this event comes quickly after the holidays! Remember that the team pledge minimum is $100 per rider.3) Review the Captains packet, it has everything you need to know, step by step.4) Contact UCP with any questions - we are here to support you all the way!

NOTES FOR CAPTAINS Saturday, January 28, 2017 United Cerebral Palsy of Central Minnesota (UCP) will host the nineteenth annual Stuck In Motion stationary bike race at Whitney Recreation Center in St. Cloud from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
* Captains responsibilities:
♦ Recruit your 8-10 team members.
♦ Register your team members and team name with UCP-CM ASAP.
♦ Confirm your team information is correct on the UCP website. Your team members can use this page to collect donations.
♦ Ensure that all of your team members have signed a waiver as soon as they are registered with your team.
♦ Schedule your team race times.
♦ Collect all contributions from team members prior to or on race day and turn in to the registration table. ♦ Make sure all riders on your team raise the minimum amount of $100. Let them know it’s really easy... 10 people can each donate $10. To be eligible for prizes, pledges must be turned in on day of race.
♦ Make sure your team members represent UCP-CM in a positive way. Acknowledge that donations are to support participation in the Stuck In Motion to benefit Central Minnesotans with disabilities.
♦ Encourage Team members to Thank their donors. (Thank you note cards and receipts are available for team members to give to their contributors)

* Upon arrival, please check in at the registration table. Please have all of the following information with you for your team:
♦ your pledge forms
♦ team registration form
♦ riders schedule form if UCP-CM does not have a copy
♦ team members signed waivers
* There will be a score board to track team and individual standings.
* All prizes/medals will be awarded at 2:00 p.m. Please encourage team members to stick around to cheer their teammates on or come back, especially if your team is trying for team prizes. Arrangements will be made with you to receive any prizes that members of your team may be awarded.
* All prizes are based on the amount of contributions turned in on race day. Some exceptions may apply i.e. company matching contributions, other secured business contributions that have been verified by UCP-CM.
* Don’t forget the “Spirit Award” which will be awarded to the team who appears to be having the most fun. Cheering your teammates on is important! Feel free to decorate your tables or come dressed as a team.

IDEAS FOR RAISING INDIVIDUAL & TEAM CONTRIBUTIONSAll you have to do is ASK ~ your family, friends and co-workers will be happy to support your efforts.

Form letter (This is by far the most effective fundraising tool)
For those of you don’t like to ask for donations, and are great with words,write a letter asking for donation in support of your participation (make sure you send a copy to UCP-CM).
Enclose a request and self-addressed envelope with your Holiday greeting cards.
Newsletters, e-mail and web pages
With technology today this is probably the easiest idea yet. E-mail your friends, family, co-workers and let them know what you’re doing and ask for their support. GiveMN.org allows teams and individuals to set up personal pledge pages. An information sheet is included in your packet on how to set one up. It’s easy!
Payroll
Ask your payroll department if there is a way to print a message on check stubs to inform fellow co-workers of your team/individuals participation in the SIM Bike Race. Or ask if you can include a slip of paper in each check to notify co-workers of your participation in the SIM Bike Race. Provide a place where donations can be dropped off.
Fund Matching
Check and see if your company has a matching contribution program. When asking for donations fromco-workers ask them to complete the matching forms available, you could double your contributions.
Consult Human Resource Dept.
This group of people know the ins and outs and the do’s and don’ts for your office. Ask them for ideas on how to promote your participation in the SIM and how you can get donations from employees.
Community Business
Everyone has insurance, a doctor, optometrist, dentist, favorite restaurant, local bank etc., or have you had some work done on your house? Have you just built your house? Have you had your furnace or chimney cleaned? Do you contract with a business for snow removal? Etc. These businesses in the community may make a contribution for you or your team. If you chose this as one of your options please call UCP-CM at 253-0765, a letter and verification might be required for the business.

In consideration of your acceptance of this entry, I, intending to be bound, hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors and adminis-trators and on behalf of undersigned, waive and release United Cerebral Palsy of Central Minnesota, Inc., its officers, directors, staff and volunteers, Whitney Recreational Center, its officers, directors, staff and volunteers, and all additional sponsors and their representatives, successors, and assigns from any and all rights and claims for damages I may have arising out of any inju-ries and illnesses suffered by me in the event.
