Vision and Mission
VISION AND MISSION FOR
ROB FERREIRA HIGH SCHOOL
Rob Ferreira High School, because of its Christian character, aims to be an
exceptional school which strives to excel in every area of school life. We want
to be a school where each learner will be happy and can reach his or her full
potential. Rob Ferreira High School wants to be the school in the province
which is characterized by its excellence in terms of education, performance
and the creation of opportunities for learners.
Code of conduct
A proud ROBBIE will willingly subject him/herself to the following system of values:
1. To realise my absolute dependency on God and to live my life in such a manner that it
would be to His praise.
2. That punctuality and planning become part of my daily life so that people may depend
on me.
3. To promote the orderliness in our school by keeping to the school rules and to follow the
rules for life that would lead to a sensible adult life.
4. To act stately, to respect my seniors as well as my juniors and to accept the authority that
has been appointed to guide me.
5. That all my actions will be polite and praiseworthy at all times.
6. To appreciate our beautiful school grounds, to keep it neat and protect it from vandalism
- our grounds reflect our pride.
7. To make a positive difference at our school by being active in all school activities,
supporting my fellow-learners, to be available when anyone needs me, to show my
loyalty to the school by word and deed.
8. To treat everyone who crosses my path with respect and kindness.
9. To show, by using my appearance, that I have self-pride and am proud of my school and
to protect my body from things that can be potentially harmful.
10. To consciously build my character, make the correct decisions and to use my God-given
talents to glorify Him.

Remediation program
Mathematics
Rob Ferreira High School has noticed that learners that come from various primary schools
do not all meet the same requirements concerning Mathematics. Core skills needed for
successful progress in grade 8 are not sufficiently instilled.
To bridge this gap, Rob Ferreira will offer a remediation programme to all grade 8 learners.
During these mandatory, free sessions, staff will focus on the problem areas and skills which
have been identified.
Register will be taken during every session.
The program will be implemented as follows:
Baseline assessment for all grade 8 learners will take place on 11 January 2016.
Weekly remedial classes on Mondays from 14:00 – 14:45 as indicated on the term
program.
Extra remedial classes for grade 8 and 9 will be presented on Tuesdays, 14:00 – 14:45
by Me Etrescia du Preez and Me Loanette Caknis as per request by the Mathematics
teachers.
Extra classes are offered by Me Santie Muller and Me Etrescia du Preez, financial and
timetable arrangements to be made with them personally.
Reading:
Due to the decline in the reading speed of learners, Rob Ferreira has had no choice but to
intervene.
From 2016 Rob Ferreira will present the Stimulus Maxima Program for grade 8 and 9 learners.
These learners will work in this program during two periods per cycle. Results will reflect on
the reports.

Reserves for teams who participate in the North Vaal competition are officially part of the team
Learners who function as umpires/ officials are grouped under the same criteria as the players
Year (E.g. 2014) will be added for all awards – Re-award only the year is given
Abovementioned regulations are subject to change, should it be required.
7. VariëActu-Award
Background
There was a need to use the learners‟ promotion mark as a criterion for academic
awards.
This meant that the academic awards for Gr 8 to 11 could only then be done in the
following year.
From this year (2014) only extra mural awards will be done for Gr.8 to 11.
In the past, there was a "Top Robbie" award which included the academic achievements
of the learner.
As this was no longer possible, a gap was left for the award of highest achiever.
A decision was made to award the learners.
A further decision was made to honour the girls and boys separately for their outstanding
achievements across the total spectrum of Rob extra mural activities.
Principles of calculation:
1. Versatility is the most important principle (Basically the same as the Gr 12 OMNIA award).
2. Therefore the principle of the relationship 2:1 must be used throughout.
3. The highest achievement per sport code is used.
4. The highest achievement per cultural group is used. (Cultural group is e.g. Olympiads/
Eisteddfod, etc.)
5. If a learner only participated in 1 sport code, then we can only consider the
achievements of 2 (two) culture groups.
6. If a learner only participated in e.g. 1 culture group, then we will only consider the
achievements in 2 (two) sport codes.
Versatility over the total spectrum of Rob extra mural activities.
Robbie guide (2017) 66
Allocations of points are as follows:
1. Two (2) points for participation in each activity.
2. One (1) point for every CSS(Certificate of Selfless Service)
3. Allocation of points per sport activity/ culture group.
Important – The principle of the relationship 2:1 must be applied here!
Sport achievements Points Culture achievements
Part (Participation) 1 point Part (Participation)
SC (Silver Certificate) 2 points SC (Silver Certificate)
GC (Gold Certificate) 3 points GC (Gold Certificate)
CA (Colours Award) 4 points CA (Colours Award)
AA(Achievement Award) 5 points AA(Achievement Award)
TR (Trophy) 6 points TR (Trophy)
Versatility over the total spectrum of Rob extra mural activities
Rob believes that this award will motivate learners to participate more
8. How does the OMNIA award work?
It is awarded only to a grade 12 learner who has excelled at sport, culture and academics.
The following learners will be considered for this award:
All grade 12‟s who have earned prestige colours
All grade 12‟s who have achieved bronze, silver and gold scrolls for academics
The head boy or head girl of the school.
The criteria thereafter are as follows:
The academic average (except LO) to be worked out of 60
2 types of sport tally to a maximum of 20 each/2 colours
One cultural activity tallies to a maximum of 10 (each participation during the year
counts 2)
Attitude of learner towards other learners, teachers, school work, sporting events etc.
to a maximum of 10.
The image learner exhibits to the public, to a maximum of 10
Therefore the grand total is 160. The learner with the greatest total will achieve the
award.
How do you receive prestige colours:
You have to be chosen for a provincial team in the sport type that is school related
AND participate in the SA‟s. If you are chosen and don‟t participate then you forfeit
the colours.
You have to be chosen for culture activity to represent the province at National
championship AND participate in the activity. If you don‟t participate then you forfeit
the colours.
Robbie guide (2017) 67
How are you considered for evaluation of honour colours:
You have to have achieved prestige colours for a sport type or a culture activity
In gr10 or 11 or 12 you must have achieved a bronze-, silver of gold scroll for
academics
You must have passed your music exam in gr7
HONOUR colours are only awarded once to a learner. Once a leaner has achieved it this
learner will not be considered for honour colours again.
Learners that achieve provincial and national colours will only receive the necessary
acknowledgement by the school AFTER they have participated in the involved team of
activity
