We are looking forward to your visit and have planned many activities to keep your Girl Scouts entertained. One of the activities that we are initiating is the traditional Girl Scout Pin Swap. In the past several years, this activity has provided a chance for Girl Scouts to mingle and interact with each other in a fun filled atmosphere. We are asking each scout to make several pins to swap with fellow scouts. We anticipate an enthusiastic response to this activity. Here are some tips for your troop:

• Pins should be made before you arrive. We do not provide materials here.

• Girls can be creative and represent their troop, hobbies, school, culture, etc.

• Pins can be made by using safety pins or store-bought pin backs.

• Encourage your scouts to display their pins on a big hat, sash or necklace.

• Scouts can make as many pins as they want, but try to vary the type of pins. (If a troop shows up with 50 versions of the same pin, scouts may be reluctant to swap. For example, if your troop makes all butterfly pins, once a scout swaps for one, they may not want to swap for more of the same pin.)

Sample ideas: Sleeping bags, friendship beads, horseshoe pins, shooting stars, musical notes, s’mores, sun glasses, flag from different countries, flower pots, mini bandanas, cupcakes, campfire, different flavored cookies.
