WELCOME

Welcome 2016 Travelers Championship Volunteers!Thank you for choosing to volunteer at the 2016 Travelers Championship, August 1-7, at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. As Connecticut’s largest sporting event, more than 4,000 volunteers donate their time and effort to help deliver a world-class PGA TOUR experience for players, fans and the media. Volunteers not only get to go behind the scenes at a PGA TOUR event, but also can feel good about investing their time as the Travelers Championship donates 100 percent of its net proceeds to charities throughout New England.Since 2007, when Travelers became the title sponsor, over $10 million has been generated for more than 500 charities. Last year alone, the Travelers Championship generated $1.565 million for more than 140 charities throughout Connecticut and New England. Our volunteers, the heart of the event, contribute directly to this. Your passion, dedication and hard work do not go unnoticed.Hartford HealthCare continues to be actively involved in enhancing the volunteer experience as they are proudly sponsoring the tournament’s volunteers for the seventh straight year. Together, we share admiration for our volunteers and hope to continue enhancing the overall volunteer experience. We are pleased to highlight an elite field including reigning champion Bubba Watson, 2011 PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley, 2007 Masters Champion and 2015 Open Championship winner Zach Johnson, 2010 Open Championship winner Louis Oosthuizen, 2012 U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, three-time major winner Padraig Harrington and many more. In addition to the golf competition, the tournament will host special events throughout the week, including Military Appreciation presented by Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Farmington Bank Family Day and Women’s Day presented by Travelers. The Powerstation Events Concert Series in the MetroHartford Alliance Fan Zone will include country duo Big & Rich on Thursday evening and Gin Blossoms on Saturday evening. We appreciate you donating your time to volunteer with us. CHARITABLE IMPACT

The Travelers Championship is proud to be a PGA TOUR event, which donates 100 percent of net proceeds to charity every year to nonprofit organizations throughout our community. Since 1952, the tournament has generated more than $33 million for charity and in 2015, the Travelers Championship surpassed $1.565 for charity.

The primary beneficiary of the 2016 Travelers Championship is the ALS Clinic at the Hospital for Special Care (HSC) in New Britain, Connecticut. Each year, HSC cares for more than 250 Connecticut residents with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive disorder that affects the function of nerves and muscle. HSC is the only facility in Connecticut that is part of the ALS Association’s national network of Certified Treatment Centers of Excellence and is certified by the Muscular Dystrophy Association for ALS care. It also runs one of the largest research and clinical trial programs for ALS in New England.

A YEAR IN REVIEW

The 2015 Travelers Championship saw Bubba Watson claim his second title at TPC River Highlands in an exciting playoff over Paul Casey. Watson began with nine birdies and a bogey for an opening round 62, tying his lowest round on the PGA TOUR. Watson’s second round saw a bogey-free 67 that propelled him to the solo lead entering the weekend. On Saturday, Watson’s 68 placed him in a tie for second, one stroke back of Brian Harman. Sunday’s leaderboard would prove to be a must watch as 24 players were within six shots of the lead. In a light drizzle that lingered throughout the day, players were sent off split tees in threesomes to avoid the heaviest showers. Watson birdied the first two holes on Sunday to take back the lead. Watson stuck to his strengths and played steady golf the next 16 holes finishing up with an eagle, a bogey and 14 pars. Watson’s second victory at TPC River Highlands would have to wait as he was caught by Paul Casey, whose final round 65 gave him a share of the lead after 72 holes. On the second playoff hole, Watson birdied 18 to win his second Travelers Championship. 5

TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

In 1952, a PGA TOUR event in Connecticut was born, called the Insurance City Open, at Wethersfield Country Club. In 1984, the tournament moved to its current location at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. Travelers has been the title sponsor since 2007. The largest professional sporting event in the state, the tournament has generated more than $33 million for charities in the surrounding communities and has crowned champions such as Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, Billy Casper and Phil Mickelson.

TPC RIVER HIGHLANDSLocated in Cromwell, Connecticut, just minutes outside Hartford on a bluff overlooking the Connecticut River, TPC River Highlands has served as the proud host of the PGA TOUR’s Travelers Championship since 1984. The course has been named by Golf Digest as one of the “Top 10 Golf Courses in the State” and the “Best Private Course in the State” by Connecticut Golfer Online for a number of years. Last fall, the club launched a multi-million dollar renovation project designed to enhance the golf experience. The scope of work encompassed agronomic and architectural improvements to bunkers, draining systems, greens, tee boxes, cart paths and lake banks. Following the announcement of a 10-year sponsorship extension agreement with Travelers in December 2014, special considerations were also given to improving the spectator experiences at the tournament, resulting in enhanced viewing areas and improvements to the existing Fan Zone. TPC River Highlands reopened all 18 holes in early June for members and their guests to enjoy the course enhancements.
