Slingshot is thrilled to introduce a radical new kite to its 2016 lineup – the Wave SST. With a design that will redefine the meaning of a true surf-specific kite, the Wave SST (Slingshot Surf Technology) features a Compact-C canopy and compact direct-connect bridal that looks like a cross between an RPM and a Rally, but performs unlike any kite on the market. Built with significant and unrivaled upgrades to Slingshot’s already bombproof construction, the Wave SST (offered in 6, 8, 10 and 12 meter sizes) is sturdy enough to take a pounding in the surf, but light enough to track magically downwind, downloop on a dime and whip across the window at the flick of a wrist. For kiters serious about taking their wave skills to the next level, the Wave SST is the kite to take them there.

The Wave SST is equipped with a modified version of Slingshot’s revolutionary new shock-absorbing IRS bridal (introduced on the 2015 RPM), which provides instant feedback and response, unrivaled stability and is condensed enough that it can’t get wrapped around wingtips if rolled in the surf. With a shape that favors serious downwind drift, unbelievable turning speed even when fully sheeted-out and a feather-light feel when shredding down the line, slashing faces and bottom-turning, the Wave SST has set a new standard for what a wave kite can do for its riders.

Slingshot coined the term “Surf Tough” nearly 15 years ago with its unique seam technology, and its designers have taken that concept to another level with the Wave SST. The kite is constructed with an extra heavy duty Rip Stop Surf Grid canopy material and has extra panels reinforced in a gridded quilt pattern to provide increased strength in the event of a water landing. These upgrades compliment Slingshot’s already rock-solid construction that makes our kites the most resilient on the market.

Although built specifically for surf, the Wave SST is also an outstanding kite for all around shredding riders and the rapidly-growing faction of foil boarders due to its incredible depower, feather-light feel and unrivaled turning characteristics. For customized performance, the kite features three trailing edge attachment points which result in more or less bar pressure and sensitivity depending on which point is chosen. Touted as the most versatile and user-friendly kite in Slingshot’s lineup, the Rally has continued its dramatic rise to the top since introduced to the market in 2011. Available in sizes 5-12 and 14 so kiters can build their perfect quiver, the 2016 Rally incorporates an open Delta-C profile, a direct-connect pulley-less bridal system, beefed-up surf-tough seams, fine-tuning attachment points and a number of other unique feathers to make this the ultimate all-around weapon of choice for kiters across the spectrum. Never before has one kite appealed to so many different styles of riding.

Updates to the 2016 Rally include relocated attachment points and a slight change in geometry, which increase handling and steering speed, reduce bar pressure and bring back a feel similar to the popular 2012 version. Built for ultimate control and confidence, the Compstick’s intuitive and streamlined below-the-bar depower and safety is unrivaled by any other bar on the market.

With continuous improvement in mind, we’ve added several upgrades to 2016 Compstick, including new molded floats and padded bar-ends, a revised EVA grip design, bar-end bungee line-keepers and an improvement in how the in how the floats fold in for storage. Slingshot is upping the ante in 2016 by adding an entirely new bar setup to its arsenal. The Compstick with Sentinel safety is an above-the-bar system that moves the depower strap from the waist-level position of our below-the-bar setup to the arms-reach location that some riders prefer.

With a sliding trim block that moves the depower cleat up and down the center lines, riders can adjust the height of the depower rope depending on their reach and the amount of throw they want in the bar. The Sentinel uses the same updated control bar as the 2016 Guardian, but comes with a completely reworked chicken loop and safety release system and a molded below the bar Spin-to-Win mechanism that allows riders to untwist center-lines with ease.

With a stubby, truncated nose, wide midsection and three-fin swallow tail, the 2016 Angry Swallow’s anarchic design breaks the mold of modern kite surfboards. Based on Slingshot’s T-Rex hybrid model, the Angry Swallow offers riders an unparalleled mix of stability and all-condition wave performance with a snappy, responsive and freestyle-friendly feel that only a board of its size and shape can provide.

New this year, the 2016 Angry Swallow - offered in 5’2”, 5’4” and 5’6” lengths - has a narrower midsection, redesigned tail and drawn-back stomp pad and insert; these changes allow for tighter, snappier turning and a more aggressive stance for riders, with or without footstraps. Although an excellent all-around board, the Angry Swallow shines in marginal wave conditions, when more traditional boards tend to struggle. With the performance of a larger board in a small package, the T-Rex design is also an excellent choice for travel.

Back by popular demand for all of Slingshot’s 2016 surfboards is the three-fin setup incorporating the innovative new FCSII keyless fin system that enables riders to insert and remove fins with ease, and without the need for tools. Offered in 5’2”, 5’4” and, new to 2016, 5’6” lengths, the Screamer’s stubby shape significantly reduces front-end weight, thus making strapless airs, spins and flip tricks easier than with more traditional shapes. Meanwhile, the board’s parallel rail outline, “pulled-in” thumb tail and single-concave rocker make it a fast, stable and slashy choice for all-around wave riding.

fortified G10 Fastrack is inlaid deeper into the board than

our previous system and is locked in place by a thick layer of

The reflex is the ideal board for rail riders looking for big presses through the park but still like to have a bit of resistance and rebound from the deck to pop out of tricks.

Its chined rails offer a small clearance zone between the edges of the board and the uneven surfaces riders sometimes encounter in the rail park or out on a winch mission. The Oli Pro Model has been a fan favorite since day-1 and in its third model year we are excited to add a 144cm option to the lineup so the big dogs can get in on the action too. Oli’s board features subtle hourglass shaped Naca Tech channels in the tip and tail and chined rails to create big acceleration into the wake. Based on Slingshot’s Future Response Technology construction, the Rant is built with a proprietary Wood Veneer Sandwich Construction, which controls durability and flex and creates a light and impact resistant end result. The board comes equipped with a full cockpit-length EVA pad for traction, a vent plug to manually equalize internal pressure due to heat and atmospheric pressure changes and three FCS fins (a 4.5” center fin and two 5.25” asymmetrical side fins).
