2016 SHOP WITH A COP TOURNAMENT WAS A SUCCESS!
The 6th Annual Shop with a Cop Charity Golf Tournament was held December 9 on the Love Course at
Barefoot Resort & Golf. The annual tournament is a collaboration between the City of North Myrtle
Beach and Barefoot Resort & Golf. Proceeds from the event go towards the North Myrtle Beach Public
Safety Department’s Shop with a Cop program.
This year the department’s Shop with a Cop program focused on children in need at Riverside,
Waterway and Ocean Drive Elementary Schools. Guidance counselors at the schools chose the children
in need to receive the benefits of the program. The children were treated to a December 10 lunch at
Buffalo Wild Wings and then, accompanied by NMB Public Safety Officers and volunteers, went to
Walmart to buy presents and necessities, such as winter coats, with their $100 Wal-Mart gift cards.
The 2016 tournament fee was $60 per person, which included green fees, cart, range balls, non-alcoholic
beverages, breakfast, lunch and a $10,000 hole-in-one competition. We thank all who played in the
LR- Parks & Recreation Director John Bullard, Finance Director Randy Wright, City Manager Mike Mahaney, Barefoot
Director of Golf Mike Ross, Mayor Marilyn Hatley, Aquatic & Fitness Director Melinda Chappell, Superintendent of
Recreation & Sports Tourism Matt Gibbons, Public Safety Director Jay Fernandez at 2016 Shop with a Cop Tournament
