WEEK LONG SESSION IN FEBRUARY

For five consecutive days, classes are offered for SEE credit or audit. A student can take one, two, or all three. Each credit course costs $60: $45 paid to Unity Institute when one registers online and $15 payable to Unity church, where class is taken (Unity Atlanta, Unity East of Atlanta or Unity North). Non-credit classes are $15 each, which is paid to Unity Church. A love offering for instructors will also be taken. (Remember, this is the only way instructors are compensated for their time, talents, and travel.) See class schedule for dates and times of each class.

In this class, we will explore the New Testament from the Acts of the Apostles to The Revelation to John. First, getting a gist of the Bible history and then focusing on a few of the stories, discussing their historical or cultural impact and then emphasizing their metaphysical meanings that can be gleaned from within us.

Students will begin to understand and interpret the Hebrew Scriptures from a metaphysical viewpoint. The chief aim is that each student gains the knowledge and skill to interpret scripture. They will learn to apply the teachings of the Hebrew Scriptures to their lives. This class introduces the Bible in its inner or spiritual meaning as a record of the experiences and the development of the human soul and the whole being of man. The Scriptures are unveiled through individual metaphysical interpretation of the names of people, places, and things, numbers, archetypes, and any other symbols, etc., as they are connected with the activity of humankind. By studying these symbols,

we open to our inner guidance for our spiritual journey of self-discovery and learning.

Practicing meditation and entering into the Silence is a part of the prayer process and is fundamental to Unity teachings. It is an essential spiritual practice, as it is the foundation for uncovering that, which veils spiritual understanding. The course is focused on the meditation process and experience; thus, it will be experiential in nature. Meditation will be defined and discussed, however, that is secondary to the experience of meditation. Thus, we will practice various meditation techniques. This course will describe not only the benefits of meditation but also all of the different types of resistance we encounter as we enter this journey called meditation. Methods of creatively dealing with resistance will be shared also. In joy and with enthusiasm, you will desire to design a daily spiritual practice around meditation.

This class is a combined study of Unity’s two most important texts on the core subject of prosperity: Charles Fillmore’s classic Prosperity, first published in 1936, and Eric Butterworth’s Spiritual Economics, first published in 1983. We will compare and contrast these books on the key subjects of substance, mind, faith, visualization, and a giving consciousness. We will spend time considering the always-relevant subject of money, and how to replace a consciousness of lack with one of abundance. As usual in Unity classes, we will have an eye open to how to use these ideas in our daily lives.

stories found in the Hebrew and Christian Bibles

and the significant guidance they contain for this

modern age through metaphysical interpretation. In

this course, as we focus on understanding both the

seven days of creation, as related in the Bible

(Genesis 1:1 – 2:3), and the seven steps of the

Creative Process, as interpreted by Charles

Fillmore and Unity School, we grow in

consciousness toward the outer expression of our

spiritual selves. Understanding the Creative

Process as it relates to the universe, individual

creation, and consciousness is a rewarding

spiritual study and the opening to greater spiritual

It is based on the book by Eric Butterworth, Discover the Power Within You. This book presents the thesis that we all can discover, accept, and release the power of the divinity Jesus believed dwelt within him and also in each individual. This divinity Jesus described as the Kingdom of Heaven within. The apostle Paul described this as the Christ in you, your hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). Eric Butterworth calls us to believe that the divinity within man was not just Jesus’ heritage. That divine heritage, he asserts, is also ours. For that reason, this book is more than just something to read and believe. It becomes a tool to develop an action plan and to live our divinity. Butterworth says that if you and I totally accept this truth, we will also be able to see in others the same divinity that is in us and was also in Jesus.

The course is a study of metaphysical Truth

principles, the fundamental and ultimate reality of

anything. It is based on the book, Lessons in Truth

by Dr. Emilie Cady. Each chapter of the book

initially appeared in "Unity Magazine" as a

compilation of Truth articles. The author affirms

that in order for us to have a real understanding of

our spiritual nature, an inner revelation of the

divine Beingness we are, needs to occur. Dr. Cady

says that once we understand our divinity, we will

inevitably follow the path for our spiritual fulfillment.

For more than 100 years, Dr. Cady’s teachings

have been the first step for many Unity students on

Each Enneagram type has a different pattern of thinking, feeling and acting that arises from a deeper inner motivation or worldview.

The Enneagram fosters greater understanding through a universal language that transcends gender, religion, nationality and culture. While we are all unique, we share common experiences. CORA ALEXANDER, LUT

Cora Alexander has been a practicing Truth Student since

the early 70’s when she discovered the Daily Word. In April

2009, she achieved a 20-year dream of becoming a

Licensed Unity Teacher through Unity Worldwide

Ministries. She facilitated numerous Unity classes in

Houston, Texas and is now based at Atlanta Unity in

Norcross, GA. She also provides classes at Unity South

Atlanta in Jonesboro, GA. Her teaching style provides a

safe environment where participants can stretch beyond

their comfort zone, practice presentation skills and grow in

consciousness. She loves challenging mediocre or “text-

book responses” and relating topics to relevant real world

experiences. Cora is a Certified Life Purpose and

Prosperity Coach.

Anna Andes, Ed.D, LUT found Unity of Mesa in 1983.

While there Anna became a licensed Unity teacher in 1988

and taught 3 year- olds, YOU and adult classes. Prior to

that Anna taught Child Development and Human Relations

for 15 years at Dobson High School in Mesa, Az. In

January 1996 Anna became Curriculum Development

Director for the Association of Unity Churches, now Unity

Worldwide Ministries. During her 13 years she implemented

the Living Curriculum philosophy into various curricula

created for children, youth and small group ministry. Anna

serves Unity Worldwide Ministries as Chairperson of the

Leadership Recruitment and Development Team (LRDT).

This ministry team selects candidates for election to the

Board of Trustees of UWM. Currently Anna teaches SEE

classes for Atlanta Unity and at Unity Church and Spiritual

Center, Conyers, GA. Anna is also serving Unity

Worldwide Ministries as Chair Person of the LRDT group

which is responsible for the UWM Board of Trustees.

LARRY BERGMANN, LUT

Larry is a combination 21st century circuit rider and Johnny

Appleseed.

His ministry is speaking at a variety of churches, most often

when they are between ministers. Instead of planting apple

seeds in fertile soil that grow to produce good fruit to

nourish the body, he plants seeds of TRUTH in fertile

minds that promote the development of the Kingdom of

Heaven here in the earth plane.

He has spoken in many churches in the US, but was also

on the New Thought speaking circuit in Australia when he

attended the Parliament of World Religions. Most recently,

he spoke at the Unity Church in London, England, when

attending a New Thought conference in Glastonbury.

Gregg is currently the Director of Online Learning and

Coaching at the Center for Progressive Renewal. He has

taught the Footsteps of Paul at Unity Atlanta Church. He

will be co-teaching with Larry Bergmann, “Bible

Interpretation: Hebrew Scriptures.”

Jan brings her love of the Unity message to inspire

individuals to awaken to their indwelling divinity. Calling

Unity Atlanta ‘home’ for 20 years , she has served her

spiritual church community in multiple volunteer positions as

Board member, Stewardship Committee (Chair), OutReach

Ministry Team, Marketing & Communication Team, and

multiple Love In Action ministries (Singles,

Grounds/Gardening, Bookstore Angels, Laurel Heights

Youth, Women’s Circle, and Healing Ministries). Throughout

all of her years at AU, her ongoing passion and service has

been with youth education, having taught 4/5th graders for

15 years and is now currently serving as Uniteen

Coordinator.

From day one of stepping foot inside UA, Jan has been

engaged in education and spiritual enrichment programs.

Whether attending or facilitating classes, Jan appreciates

the open dialogue and discussion and enjoys the deep dive

~ whether asking the questions or questioning the answers.

She completed her Licensed Unity Teacher training, with a

specialized focus in Youth and Family Ministry in 2015.

With a strong belief that thriving spiritual communities

intentionally engage their members in activities to grow and

evolve themselves emotionally and spiritually, her classes

engage the heart and the mind in didactic and experiential

learning that translates Truth into practical application.

Paul was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He discovered the Unity Movement in Puerto Rico while an avid student and facilitator of A Course in Miracles. He was co-founder of the only English language Unity Church in Puerto Rico, Beacon of Light Unity Church. He was Minister of Prayer and Pastoral Care at Unity Church of Overland Park from 1996 – 1998. He was also Retreat Minister for Unity School of Christianity from 1998 – 2004. Paul was Dean, Spiritual Education and Enrichment, from 2004 until 2014. Currently he is a full Time Faculty member, Spiritual Education and Enrichment, 2014.

People have commented on how Paul makes the Unity teachings more understandable and practical in daily life. He is our leading Metaphysics authority. He has had a major role in bringing Unity’s Metaphysics into the 21st century. With a genuine passion for clarity and precision, Paul guides his students to awaken awareness and deepen understanding.

Paul is also a national speaker, workshop leader and teacher. He co-hosts, Metaphysical Romp II (with Revs. Drs. Cher and Bil Holton), a weekly internet radio program, on Unity Internet Radio – www.unity.fm – Tuesdays from 2 – 3 PM Central time or by downloaded podcasts.

Dave Hilburn is a Licensed Unity Teacher from Marietta

Georgia. While not a native of Georgia he is a 1983

Sprayberry High school graduate from Cobb County and a

1987 West Point graduate from the United States Military

Academy.

He is a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) from

Toastmasters International, a stand-up Comic, and a

regionally recognized Story Teller by the Storytellers of the

Southeast (SOS).

Like many Unity Ministers, Dave has the “gift of gab”.

From a ministerial point of view, he sees himself as a cross

between Obiwan Kenobi and the minister Clint Eastwood

played in Pale Rider- leaning… more heavily on the Clint

Eastwood “side”.

Dave’s teaching passion is for classes with a metaphysical

“twist” from the Bible. The Old Testament and New

Testament are very close to his heart.

Gale Perkins, CSW, LUT, provides both pastoral and clinical counseling services for individuals and couples. By combining Spiritual principles with extensive clinical experience, she supports clients on an “inner journey” to discover and embrace their authentic “Self”. This journey empowers them to know and follow their “true” purpose, create more loving relationships, and realize more abundant health in every area of their life. This journey, alone, can provide the love, the joy, and the peace that we each seek, and are entitled to, as unique expressions of the Divine.

Rev Francie is a 2010 graduate of the Ministerial and Religious Studies program at Unity Institute, Unity Village, MO. and was ordained as a minister June 17, 2010. Prior to seminary Rev Francie received her Licensed Unity Teacher certification and became a Certified Spiritual Educator. With a Bachelors degree in Religious Studies, Rev. Francie has carried the importance of ministry through her education. Her background in ministry includes 16 years as a teacher and Director of Youth Education. As such she has created and facilitated volunteer trainings not only for youth church, but for volunteer programs for ministry. Her passion for Youth Ministry has led her to write curriculum for youth church and for Unity World Wide Ministries (the Association of Unity Churches International). Rev Francie and her husband Rev Warren Potter are Co-Ministers at Unity East of Atlanta in Conyers, Georgia.

Rev Francie has always found value in community and coordinating multi-generational activities. She has served on boards and in various volunteer positions with numerous non-profit groups such as Junior League of Wichita, Kansas Children’s Service League, United Way, and currently with Kiwanis. Rev Francie was the Director of Fund Development and Editor of publications for Junior League of Wichita, KS. While serving in the position of Director of Fund Development, she wrote grants, interviewed perspective projects, organized volunteers, and designed and implemented a three year reading program for the Wichita, KS Public School system. The true essence of this experience is evident in her leadership skills. Twenty-five years as a business owner, manager, and employer, Rev Francie knows how to work hard, set goals, and achieve success while motivating people to work as a team. She has been a mentor, teacher, received honors, and inspired others to rise to their highest good. Rev Francie is optimistic, positive, and is willing to share these positive traits with others.

Rev. Francie’s Mission statement is: I live in Truth, express openly what I believe, respect and serve others from a place of understanding while making a difference in my life, in others’ lives, and in the world.

Rev. Warren is a 2010 graduate of the Ministerial and Religious Studies program at Unity Institute, Unity Village, MO. and was ordained as a minister June 17, 2010. He has a Bachelors Degree in Business and Finance and a Masters Degree of Divinity from Unity Institute. Rev Francie and her husband Rev Warren Potter are Co-Ministers at Unity East of Atlanta in Conyers, Georgia.

Rev. has a business background that is invaluable to ministry. He created a successful business from the ground up and has learned the importance in believing in success, abundance, prosperity, and Truth principles through his experience as an entrepreneur and business owner for over twenty-five years. Having a clear understanding and ability to read financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, tax preparation and forms, along with knowledge and experience in the dynamics of church finance, Rev Warren truly has a prosperity consciousness. He has been a financial accountant and advisor for various ministries.

Rev. Warren was raised in Unity, third generation. As such, he has a fantastic prosperity consciousness and a clear understanding of the importance of Unity teachings. He served on the board of Unity of Wichita for nine years as finance manager (6 years) and board president (3 years) and as an interim Spiritual Leader while Unity of Wichita was in search of their next minister. Besides Unity, Rev. Warren was involved in Rotary of Wichita, a philanthropic group. As Chair of the golf committee, Rotary’s main fundraiser, he learned the importance of team building and cooperation. Currently, Rev Warren is serving on the board of Rotary Club of Rockdale County as Treasurer. Rev. Warren was employed for three years at Unity School of Christianity as a Manager of Distribution. He is respected by his peers for strong managerial skills. Rev Warren is responsible, trustworthy, and knows how to work efficiently to get the job done and for the highest good.

Rev. Warren’s Mission statement is: The Truth of You is stronger than any outside force. We are each a divine creation wanting to express with the goodness that is our essence.

Rev. Warren’s Vision statement is: Being an example of demonstrating all the good that I AM; Abundance, Health.

Jennie Scott has been a member of Unity North Atlanta since 2009 and a Licensed Unity Teacher since March 2015. Jennie uses her Unity Principles and Certified Peer Specialist training in her job helping people with mental health challenges create a new recovery story. Jennie recently served as a Prayer Chaplain Trainer and volunteers with Family Promise of Cobb County and Crossroads Hospice. Previously, Jennie had a 25-year career in interior design. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia, and continuing education from the Atlanta College of Art. She lives in Marietta, GA with her cat Flame.

John grew up in Atlanta Unity and was ordained in 1976.

He served as Senior Minister for two years each, in

Jacksonville, Florida and Santa Rosa, California before

moving to Unity Village, Missouri. There he served as

Administrative Assistant (’79-’84) and Director for Silent

Unity (’84-91).

Rev. John served as Associate Minister for Eric Butterworth

at Unity Center of Practical Christianity in New York, for six

months, before moving to Hawaii to serve as Senior

Minister in 1991.

John has been Vice President of the Board of Trustees of

Unity School of Christianity for nearly ten years, Chairman

of the Board of the Association of Unity Churches (’98-’99),

and was the Unity Movement’s only delegate to the

Parliament of the World’s Religions in Cape Town, South

Africa (1999).

In 2003, he received Unity’s highest award: The Light of

God Expressing award. He was both humbled and

honored to receive this award from his colleagues.

John and his wife, Brenda, were delegates to the

Parliament of the World’s Religions in Barcelona, Spain, in

2004 and, in 2009; John was a delegate in Melbourne,

Australia.

John served as President of North Dekalb Rotary Club,

Atlanta, GA (07-08).
