Youth Ministries

Bible Study

Wednesday 6:45 PM

PASTOR’S BIBLE STUDYLed by Pastor Lynn Hyatt weekly in the Chapel

Brother Lynn leads a weekly Bible study that usually centers upon a theme that will run for several weeks. Recent multi-week themes have included; books of the Bible, people of the Bible and doctrines of the Bible to name a few. This weekly study is appropriate for all believers, whether you have been a Christian several days or several years.

Many times these sessions allow for questions and discussion and provide an excellent opportunity to hear our pastor in a more casual setting.

Children’s Worship Ministry

Wednesdays 6:45 PM

“Kids Worship for Life”  provides opportunities for all children to connect with God through musical expression, art activities, Bible study and group interaction.

There are two levels; K4-1st Grade and 2nd-5th Grades. Both groups should register upstairs in the Educational Building.

Missionaries New to GICAlthough FBCC has been supporting Curtis & Mimmie Estes since they went to the mission field about 11 years ago, they have never been with us during a Global Impact Celebration. New Zealand is a very long way to travel and this year FBCC sent the first mission team to visit and work with them since they have been on the mission field. This is a brief introduction:

Curtis and Mimmie are both native Floridians. Curtis grew up in Jacksonville and attended church at First Baptist Jacksonville where he was saved at age 16.

He went on to be a teacher, outreach leader, group leader and deacon as well as fulfilling other roles. He and Mimmie managed the Hilliard Retreat Center for First Baptist Jacksonville for several years before they were called to the mission field. Mimmie also worked as a nurse.

Curtis and Mimmie’s ministry is presenting the Gospel to children by providing after school and holiday care to school children. New Zealand is very secular and many Christian values are not considered relevant. They have the opportunity to teach Bible stories to the and model Christian principles while providing a much needed service. Two young ladies who have been in their programs over several sessions were saved during our mission trip in January of this year.

Curtis and Mimmie live in Nelson which is on the South Island of New Zealand. It is a very beautiful area set between mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. One of the challenges of their ministry is that property is very expensive and difficult for non-citizens to purchase anywhere in New Zealand so they are forced to rent. Sometimes they are able to live for several years in one property but have also had to move twice in one year!

Youth & Singles GIC Event

Beach ReachSaturday, August 20

Peter’s PointFernandina Beach5:00 - 8:00 PM

Youth and Singles will meet together to share their faith, playing volleyball and hear a message from a missionary guest. Dinner will be hamburgers and hot dogs grilled on the beach.

Singles and high school students may drive directly to the beach (with parent’s permission). Anyone needing transportation should meet at the church by 4:30 PM. Students will return to the church no later than 8:15 PM to meet parents.

Prayer MinistryIf you were unable to attend the Power Up weekend but are interested in participating in the church prayer ministry, please contact the church office at 879-2172. Let us know what day/time you would like to commit to pray in the Prayer Room (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM). If you are unable to come during those hours you may have prayer requests emailed to you so that you can pray at home.

Teacher’s Resource Give-Away

Sunday, July 31

This event has been very well received in our community. We have received many thank you notes from teachers expressing appreciation for the many supplies that they would have had to purchase for their classrooms themselves.

We will need volunteers to set up and man the tables while our teachers choose their supplies as well as clean up afterwards. A list of supplies needed for this event is provided on Page 2. If you are interested in assisting with this event, please contact Brother Tom Tyer at 879-2172.
