Preparing your staff for Survey; Best Practices for Nurse Leaders: The goal of every DON, Administrator and Facility is to be survey ready EVERY DAY, but how do you do that? How do you prepare your staff for what’s to come? In this session with Linda Farrar, we’ll review what you as a nurse leader can do to prepare your staff for your upcoming survey. Linda will also provide insight on top tags and trends that she is seeing statewide.

Staff Shortages: Dealing with the headache that is a daily REALITY: Nursing Facilities are facing a chronic workforce shortages. It’s a reality that we, as Nurse Leaders deal with every day. Let’s talk about this daily headache. In this session Linda Farrar will talk about and encourage sharing of possible solutions and discuss the benefit to our elders of striving for staff stability.

Falls: What you don’t know hurts!: Facility teams spend a great deal of time and focus on falls. The organized involvement of the front-line staff, care-plan team, and family is critical to sustaining success in identifying risk and implementing the right interventions to prevent falls. Join Cheryl Boldt to explore realistic teaming, communication, and monitoring systems for keeping those we serve safe from falls.

June 14, 2016 - SNF ONLY Topics (The Hartford Room)

Leading the Journey: If you are employed in a role which provides “service to others” you are automatically in a leadership position. Join Cheryl Boldt as we plan our journey together. We need to include an awareness of how we are all role models in our work place and community. Regardless of your “position” you have influence over many people, decisions, and systems. A “franchise” approach to how we interact and treat others will elevate respect and trust from our customers, potential customers, co-workers, and even our family and friends. You can become a role model and master at “Leading the Journey” each day and teach others to do the same. Professionals who work in Skilled Facilities and Assisted Living in all roles are capable of embracing change and leaving work with a sense of accomplishment! Leadership should be a part of our hiring, orientation, and ongoing performance evaluations for all roles. And yes, your organization can make “Empowerment”, “Involvement” and “Accountability” a daily habit as you develop the leadership potential that surrounds you!
