This week will be a really significant one in the work going forward at 745. This is the week of the Priority Review, where we will be having a panel of 5 outside educational experts come into the school on Wednesday and Thursday to go through all aspects of our school with a fine tooth comb. The panel have already been in the school for a full day gathering information and trying to develop context around where we are and where we need to go into 2017 and beyond, to ensure continuous school improvement. During these two days all staff will have the opportunity to speak with panel members in both teams and during individual confidential conversations. I am really very excited about this process and the wonderful opportunity it will provide for our school. I have said many times "The potential at 754 for greatness is palpable - we just have to harness it!" During November there are another two days and all families will have an opportunity to speak with the reviewers during this time, if they wish. A parent forum, both during the day and one evening. When the exact times are available, we will let you know. Term 4 is such a busy time and much of it is about technical leadership and organisation. We currently have some teaching jobs advertised and will soon be shaping the work force for 2017. The "magic day" for having everything sorted out; that is classes for students, who is teaching where, what numbers are in grades and where those grades will be located is December the 6th. This is the state wide orientation day - When our current grade 6 children move onto their Secondary schooling facilities, the 2017 preps come into 754 and everyone else "Rolls up" for the morning. If you have some requests around where your child is placed in 2017, then please write it down and get your child to hand it to either Warwick Fraser or myself. Or, if you want to come and chat to either of us, please feel free to do so. I always say that classes are cre- ated by teachers for academic reasons and parents take care of the emotional reasons - the trick is finding the perfect balance of the two. Newsletter Week 3 Term 4 2016

Good afternoon to all,

Welcome to week 3 of the last term of the year!

This week will be a really significant one in the work going forward at 745. This is the week of the Priority Review, where we will be having a panel of 5 outside

educational experts come into the school on Wednesday and Thursday to go through all

aspects of our school with a fine tooth comb. The panel have already been in the school for a full day gathering information and trying to develop context around where we are and

where we need to go into 2017 and beyond, to ensure continuous school improvement.

During these two days all staff will have the opportunity to speak with panel members in both teams and during individual confidential conversations. I am really very excited about

this process and the wonderful opportunity it will provide for our school. I have said many times "The potential at 754 for greatness is palpable - we just have to harness it!" During

November there are another two days and all families will have an opportunity to speak with the reviewers during this time, if they wish. A parent forum, both during the day and

one evening. When the exact times are available, we will let you know.

Term 4 is such a busy time and much of it is about technical leadership and organisation.

We currently have some teaching jobs advertised and will soon be shaping the work force for 2017. The "magic day" for having everything sorted out; that is classes for students,

who is teaching where, what numbers are in grades and where those grades will be located is December the 6th. This is the state wide orientation day - When our current grade 6

children move onto their Secondary schooling facilities, the 2017 preps come into 754 and everyone else "Rolls up" for the morning.

If you have some requests around where your child is placed in 2017, then please write it down and get your child to hand it to either Warwick Fraser or myself. Or, if you want to

come and chat to either of us, please feel free to do so. I always say that classes are cre-ated by teachers for academic reasons and parents take care of the emotional reasons -

the trick is finding the perfect balance of the two.

Something to ponder: As the business of the Christmas period fast approaches, please ensure that your children are well rested and

routine is established around everyday activities. This "keeps the

ship steady" and ensures consistency of behaviours.

Prep Transition: Term 4 Term 4 transitions sessions begin again on October 14th. The sessions begin at 9:00 am. Please

see page 9 of the newsletter for all term 4 Transition dates and times. Hats on:

As the warmer weather is almost upon us again we need to remind everyone that sun smart hats must be worn during term 4. Peak hats and caps are not acceptable

as a sun smart hat as they do not shade the ears or the back of your child/children's neck.

Fresh Fruit: As we are promoting healthy eating we would love it if you could provide lots of fresh

fruit for your children to eat.

“Write 4 Fun” writing competition Congratulations to Claire Roughley, Gracie-May Ross and Daniel Payne from 3/4 C. They recently

entered a story or poem in the “Write 4 Fun” writing competition. Last week they received the exciting news that their writing has been selected as finalists by the judges. They now await the

final results which are announced on the 29th October. Well done to these 3 students. Meals on Wheels:

Many thanks to the adults who are able to help us with Meals On Wheels. Here is the roster for Round 3 which begins on Monday 24th October 2016.
