Welcome to the 2016 Lisbon Tournament

We are delighted that you have chosen to take part in the 2016 Lisbon Tournament and entrusted your travel plans to our capable hands. Lisbon is one of the coolest, stylish and most "up and coming" football tour destinations around - it is a stunning city packed with history and culture but with a young, vibrant edge and desire to party that marks one of the best night's out in Europe.

Like Barcelona, Lisbon has its own beach resorts along the coast (Cascais, Estoril) for those that want to chill out in the sun. For those that wish to take the golf clubs on tour there are plenty of options - eurofootballfives.com have organised corporate golf tours to Lisbon in recent years. Lisbon's nightlife is generally considered to be amongst the best in Europe. The night in Lisbon starts at sunset and goes on until dawn - definitely not to be missed. The nightlife is concentrated around the Barrio Alto area and more recently the emerging Docas area - both are superb.

Important This document sets out all you need to know about the event so please take time to read this carefully. We also recommend that you print one or two copies to bring with you to the event for your reference. There are some crucial details and numbers contained on this document that you will need. For the sake of the environment and the tree fraternity around the world we do not recommend everyone prints a full copy. If you have any questions or queries on any information contained within this document then please let us know as soon as possible. This is particularly important in the unlikely event that you see an error in your travel plans detailed here.

We are positive you will have a fantastic time in Lisbon both at the tournament and in the destination itself throughout your stay. We also hope to see you at some of our future tournaments (look out for loyalty scheme discounts which we will send you after the event!) Play hard, play fair and play the tournament in a good spirit and may football, as well as potentially your team, be the winner. Last but not least, we wish you the best of luck for the tournament! With kind regards, Ian Gibbins.

Overview of 2016 Lisbon Tournament

Can you become the third ever winners of the eurofootballfives.com Lisbon Tournament? Following 20 successful tournaments in Albufeira (Algarve), Barcelona, Mallorca and Valencia over the last few years it is clear to see you love your football set against a backdrop of sun, beach, sea, good climate and not to mention a cracking nightlife. It was therefore no surprise to see Lisbon become our 5th destination on the Iberian Peninsular back in 2013. Do you have what it takes to win the third ever Lisbon Tournament? HS Décor won here in April 2013 and there was a second Portuguese win in September 2015 when Fidelidade triumphed. What can we tell you about this year’s teams? Your Mum (Eng) are the most capped team here in Lisbon as they make a sixth appearance (all under different names). They made their debut in the 2011 Budapest Fives for captain Jack Croft’s stag weekend with 3 teams. The pick of the squads went on to reach the Plate Final finishing Runners-up to Hungarian side Al-Kaloida. They returned as Arse-A-Lona FC in the 2011 Barca Fives where they reached the Plate Semi-Finals and lost narrowly, 1-0, to the eventual winners HMS Sultan FC. They competed in the 2012 Berlin Fives as FC Wein Schweine Fliegen and finished 3rd in a 6-team group before a Plate Semi-Final defeat to East Compton Seagulls. The 2013 Algarve Open saw them compete as Let Us Win or Elsie. They drew the Group of Death that saw them finish 5th in Group A which featured 3 of the 4 Cup Semi-Finalists. They reached the Plate Semi-Finals before a narrow 2-1 defeat to eventual Plate Winners Water Boy. It was then Slovakia and the 2014 Bratislava Fives where they finished in joint 3rd on 7 points in Group A but 4th on goal difference. They met Budapest Celtic Lions in the Plate Quarter-Finals but went out 3-1 to the Hungarian side. July 2015 saw them travel to Amsterdam as Your Mum where storm Zejko defeated all teams. Your Mum completed 4 of their 5 group games in hugely challenging conditions before the Code Red weather warning curtailed the day’s activities. We should be back to clement weather in Lisbon this June.

Bubble Football (Por) enter the 2016 Lisbon Tournament as the defending champions. They were incredible on the day with a maximum 15 points in the group phase scoring 21 goals and conceding just 1. This was a group that also contained the 2014 Mallorca Tournament winners Cheesecake FC. Only once has a team successfully defended a eurofootballfives.com title and that was in the Algarve when Dutch team Athletico Do Hollande won the 2010 & 2011 Algarve Opens. Could Bubble Football emulate that feat? Shrewsbury Townsend (Eng) make their third eurofootballfives.com appearance after a very impressive debut at the 2012 Berlin Fives. They finished unbeaten and in second place in their group behind eventual champions Rigford Seahawks. They qualified for the Cup defeating DHL Prague White 3-1 in the Quarter-Finals, Bafta Boys on penalties after a 2-2 daw in the Semi-Finals before a narrow 2-1 loss in the final to Rigford Seahawks. They followed this up with an appearance at the 2014 Bratislava Fives. They had a solid record in Group B with two wins, two draws and just the 1 defeat. Despite just this 1 defeat they only finished 4th in the table to qualify for the Plate competition. They won their Quarter-Final via penalties and faced another penalty shoot-out in the Semi-Finals but this time came unstuck to eventual Plate winners GSF Drunkerz. CD Oeiras (Por) played here at the 2015 Lisbon Tournament last September and did well to qualify from an extremely tough Group C. They won 2, drew 2 and lost 1 to finish 2nd on goal difference and qualify for the Cup. They drew eventual winners Bubble Football in the Cup Quarter-Finals where they were eliminated 4-2. Burritos FC (Eng) played at the 2013 Barcelona Fives entering two teams – Burritos FC and Burritos FC with Mustard. They have concentrated their powers into one squad for the 2016 Lisbon Tournament. The Burritos FC were the more successful of the 2 squads in Barcelona with 6 points from 4 games to finish 3rd in their group. Both squads went out in the Quarter-Finals stage – Burrito FC to JF & The Pullbacks, the “with Mustard” squad to Trophy Winners Deportivo Dooradoyle. Southgate County (Eng) challenge on two fronts in Lisbon in both the Open Age and the Veterans Tournaments. They debuted in @eurofootball competition last year at the 2015 Berlin Fives. They had a tough start losing 3-0 to 2 x Semi-Finalists Tinniedad & Tobacco and then 4-1 to eventual runners-up Hurting Berlin. They turned things around with a 3-0 win over Scandittack FC, 3-2 win over Fail Madrid and 4-1 win over Rayford Athletic. They qualified for the Cup competition where they went out 2-1 to the eventual winners Pink Flamingos A. Fidelidade (Por) played at the 2015 Lisbon Tournament and came so close to victory. They started off in sensational form with 5 wins out of 5 in the group phase and without conceding a goal. In the Cup Quarter-Finals they defeated Boa Hora (Por) 2-1 before a 1-0 win over Melee FC (Eng). They lost the Cup Final narrowly, 1-0, to Bubble Football. Can they go all the way this year?

Millenium FC X & Y (Eng) played in the 2013 Berlin Fives and we’re delighted to see the guys return to @eurofootball5 action in Lisbon this June. They competed with 3 teams as SLFN X, SLFN Y and SLFN Z. The Z team finished 2nd behind 2014 Mallorca Tournament winners’ Cheesecake FC and were only narrowly defeated 3-2 on Golden Goal by 2014 Berlin Fives winners Hasanheide Hotspur in the Cup Quarter Finals. The X and Y team both finished 4th in their groups to qualify for the Plate. They also exited at the Quarter-Finals stage to German opposition – the X team to SV Zoo and the Y team to Stadtrandkicker on penalties. In addition to our returning teams we have the pleasure of welcoming the following teams into the eurofootballfives.com fold. They will be writing their own footnotes for future tournament overviews and they are; World Pinteur (Fra) Credit Agricola A (Por) Credit Agricola B (Por) Good luck everyone!

Overview of 2016 Lisbon Veterans Tournament

Can you claim victory in the stunning Portuguese city of Lisbon? Veterans teams are classified as those teams aged 35+. Each squad is permitted two players aged 30-34 within their squad. The eurofootballfives Veterans Tournament is a moveable feast and after the veritable delights of Lisbon 2013, Mallorca 2014 and the Algarve 2015 we are delighted to return to the amazing city of Lisbon for 2016.

Sao Marcos won the title in 2013, Palmesanos in 2014, Mini FC in 2015 - can you put your name on the Cup in 2016? What can we tell you about this year’s teams?

As with the Open Age category, we also have some familiar friends and faces returning to eurofootballfives.com action in our Veterans section. They are; Dickie Dogs (Eng) made an impressive debut in our regular Open Age tournaments at the 2010 Valencia Fives where they claimed the Group C title with an undefeated record of 3 wins and 1 draw. They then came undone against tournament runners-up, Galacticos, in the Cup Quarter-Finals. They followed this-up playing in the 2012 Budapest Fives were they said farewell at the Plate Quarter-Finals stage losing out to eventual winners, Csabagyongye of Hungary (who also won the Cup at the 2015 Budapest Fives). Dickie Dogs were part of the inaugural Lisbon Veterans Tournament in 2013 and finished joint 5th in the group table. A year later in the 2014 Mallorca Tournament they finished 3rd in Group A and went through to the Plate Final missing out on the victory narrowly (2-1) to Eagles 3:36. Last year in the Algarve they finished sixth in their group despite picking up a great win over Water Boy who have 1 Runners-Up and 2 Cup Semi-Final appearances in our Open Age Algarve Open. When they take to the field in Lisbon they will remain an ever-present of our Veterans Tournament. Funsports (Por) played in the 2013 Lisbon Veterans Tournament and performed well. They finished 2nd in their 7-team group to qualify for the knock-out phase. In the Semi-Finals they defeated St Paul’s College Old Boys 3-1 to progress to the final. In the final they met Sao Marcos who were formidable as Funsports slipped to a 7-1

defeat. Could they go one step further in 2016? Ashtead Vets (Eng) made their debut at the 2015 Algarve Veterans Tournament and impressed. They finished 3rd in Group A with 2 wins, 2 draws and just the 1 defeat. They qualified for the Plate competition but hopes of glory were dashed in the Semi-Finals with a narrow 1-0 loss to The Warriors. Talking of the The Warriors (Eng) they will also be appearing here in Lisbon after debut in the Algarve last Summer. The Warriors started off well in Group B with two 1-0 wins in their first 3 games and ultimately finished 4th in the table. As we’ve seen, they defeated Ashtead Vets 1-0 in the Plate Semi-Finals before just missing out on the winners trophy as Norton Old Boys emerged victorious 1-0. Southgate County (Eng) challenge on two fronts in Lisbon in the Open Age and the Veterans Tournament. Mavericks (Eng) made their debut at the 2012 Valencia Fives. They were impressive in the group phase but a series of draws (3 out of 4 games) hindered their progress but they qualified for the Plate competition. They sailed through the Quarter-Finals 4-0 before a penalty shoot-out exit at the hands of Club Tropicana Drinks FC. Fast forward 12 months and they competed at the 2013 Barcelona Fives. This time they had 3 wins out of 4 games as they won Group C to qualify for the elite Cup competition. They then met the eventual winners, Los Swallacticos of Northern Ireland, in the Quarter-Finals and went out 3-1. This will be their first appearance in our Veterans Tournament. In addition to our returning teams we have the pleasure of welcoming the following teams into the eurofootballfives.com fold. They will be writing their own footnotes for future tournament overviews and they are; Stilton Rovers (Eng) WEEDS (Eng) Crabtree Amblers (Eng) Aguas de Portugal (Por) Equipa Lisboa (Por) Futbol Amarela (Por) Good luck everyone!

Tournament Venue

We will be playing at Estádio Municipal de Oeiras (approximately 20 mins from the centre of Lisbon). The surface is artificial grass. The stadium facility does have changing room and shower facilities available for you to use but was naturally not built with 24 5-a-side teams in mind so these are limited for our purposes. We therefore recommend you arrive ready changed and wait until you get back to your hotel to shower. We will have a physio on the day to provide medical assistance. Should there be any more serious injuries then an ambulance will be called on the day at the recommendation of the medical personnel. Please ensure you have valid travel insurance and your EHIC card in case of injury. SECURITY Please keep a close eye on your personal belongings and valuables. We recommend if possible keeping your valuables in the safe at the hotel. For those valuables you do bring with you we recommend you keep them on you at all times when not playing. When you are playing, you can keep them in a bag and put this in your goal. Due to running the tournament, we can not be responsible for, or keep an eye on, your belongings.
