BEFORE THE COMPETITION
Parents, please familiarize yourself with these rules and explain
them to your child.
ALL athletes need to check in at Registration and parents will
need to to sign an indemnity form on behalf of their child.
Athletes will have their race wristband fitted when registering.
PLEASE WEAR YOUR WRISTBAND FROM THE TIME YOU REGISTER. IT IS IMPORTANT FOR
ATHLETES DOING THE TRIATHLON TO KEEP THE WRISTBAND ON UNTIL THEY HAVE CHECKED
THEIR BIKE OUT OF TRANSITION AFTER THE RACE.
REGISTRATION
To take part in the event, you need to collect your race pack prior
to the race from the Registration venue on race day during the
times advertised.
Race Venue, Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club, Theatre Road,
near Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi on 4th March.
Friday 4th March – from 06:00 to 09:30
Your race number will be published on the website closer to
the event date, after online registration has closed.
Additionally, boards displaying an alphabetical list of competitors
and their race numbers will be displayed close to the entrance
at Registration.
You must know your race number in order to receive your
race pack.

BIKE STICKER Please stick this sticker onto the saddle
post so that the number is clearly visible
from the left and right hand-side.
HELMET STICKERPlease stick the number to the front of
your helmet.
RACE BAG STICKERAttach the sticker to the strap of the race
bag and write your race number in the
blank space provided as shown.
SUPPORTER’S STICKERStick your supporter’s sticker onto your
biggest fan on race day.

RACE PACK
Your race pack will contain the following items:
• Wristband
• Swim cap
• Race number/s (two race numbers for teams)
• Stickers sheet
• Belt/s (two belts for teams)
(Junior Aquathlon and Junior Super Sprint
individuals will each receive one belt. Junior Super
Sprint teams will receive two belts - Junior Super
Sprint teams will pass the timing chip, between
the cyclist and runner)
WRISTBANDPlease wear your wristband from the time
you register. It is important for athletes doing
the triathlon to keep the wristband on until
they have checked their bike out of Transition
after the race.
SWIM CAPYou will receive your swim cap in your race
pack. Each start wave has an individual swim
cap colour - you need to wear your designated
swim cap during the swim. Make sure you
start in the correct wave, so ensure you
know your start time.
RACE NUMBER AND RACE BELTAttach your race number to your race belt.
You must wear your race number for
the cycle on you back (triathlon) and run
in the front.
TIMING CHIPYou will receive your timing chip at the race check-in on race day.
Please securely fasten your chip around your left ankle and do not remove it
throughout the competition, unless racing in a team event. If you fail to wear the
timing chip correctly we cannot guarantee you the correct time result.
Timing chips must be handed in at the end of the race before leaving the finish area.
You will be charged for your chip if you fail to return it.
Tiny triathlon athletes will not receive a timing chip.
RACE BRIEFINGRace briefings take place 10 minutes before the start of each race.

Abu Dhabi, UAE.
COST
Entry fee includes a goody bag, race belt, finishers’ medal and refreshments.
A podium medal for for 1st (gold), 2nd (silver) and 3rd (bronze) finishers for boys
and girls in the Junior Aquathlon and Junior Triathlon Super Sprint race distances
as well as gold medals for the winning Junior Triathlon Super Sprint boys and girls
teams will be rewarded.

• On the highway from Dubai to Abu Dhabi take the exit to Saadiyat and Abu Dhabi
going past Yas Island.
• Follow the signs to the Corniche, taking a right turn after the port.
• Take the Corniche to the end and turn right towards Marina Mall.
• Park in the Marina Mall car park and head over to the Abu Dhabi Sailing
and Yacht Club.
DIRECTIONS TO VENUE IF IN ABU DHABI
• Take either 30th St, Airport Rd or Salaam St to the Corniche.
• Turn left toward Emirates Palace.
• Take the Corniche to the end and turn right towards Marina Mall.
• Park in the Marina Mall car park and head over to the Abu Dhabi Sailing

EVENT RULES (Junior event specific)
1. Any person who participates in any portion of the event without properly
registering will be disqualified.
2. Race numbers will be body marked on the morning of the race at Registration.
Athletes will also wear a race number attached to the race belt, provided in
your race pack, on the run and cycle course.
3. Races will start as per the schedule.
4. All athletes completing the race will receive a finishers’ medal.
5. Medical staff will be on stand-by and in the event of any medical issues.
If you require any assistance please inform the nearest marshal (on the cycle/
run) or lifeguard (on the swim).
6. Final and split times will be taken when crossing the timing mats.
7. Participants must cover the prescribed course in its entirety to obtain a race
result.
8. It is the participant’s responsibility to know the course, regardless of the
actions of race staff or volunteers.
9. Participants shall refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct, including the
improper use of language or conduct directed toward an official or other
another participant. Any such violation shall result in a variable time penalty
or disqualification at the discretion of the race director.
10. No participant shall accept from any person (other than a race official) physical
assistance in any form.
11. No participant shall leave any equipment or personal gear on the race course.
12. No person shall participate in the Junior Aquathlon/Triathlon unless they have
trained adequately for that specific event and age category.
SWIM RULES
• The swim is anti-clock-wise, out-and-back direction starting and finishing on the
beach.
• The event swim cap must be worn throughout the swim.
• Any swimmer wearing any artificial propulsion device, including fins, gloves,
paddles, or floating devices of any kind shall be disqualified.
THE COMPETITION | 10 11 | THE COMPETITION
• Swimmers may use any stroke to propel themselves through the water, and
may tread water or float.
• A participant may stand on the bottom or rest by holding an inanimate object
such as a buoy, boat, rope or floating object.
• A swimmer experiencing difficulty and in need of assistance must raise an arm
overhead, pump it up and down and call or seek assistance.
• Swimmers, who have received assistance, whether voluntary or involuntary, must
retire and withdraw from the remainder of the race, unless such assistance did
not aid the swimmer in making forward progress.
• No swimmer shall return to the race if the official rendering assistance requests
that the participant withdraws from the race or receive medical assistance.
TRANSITION
• Before the race starts, all athletes are to lay their equipment needed for the run
part of the race in a neatly demarcated area within the transition.
• Make sure you know where the exit to the run course is once you have your
shoes on.
• No parents/coaches/spectators are allowed in transition.
• Suggestion - bring a small bucket to rinse your feet from any sand before putting
your running shoes on.
• Once you have completed the race you will be allowed back in to transition by
an official to collect all your personal belongings.
JUNIOR TRIATHLON SUPER SPRINT
BIKE CHECK-IN
• Stick your bike number onto your bike saddle post before check-in.
• For identification purposes during check-in, have your race number and wristband
ready to gain entry to transition.
• Attach the helmet stickers to the front of your helmet and wear your bike helmet
fastened on your head when you come to check in.
• Bikes must be racked personally onto the racking area allocated to your wave.
Each racking area will be marked according to your start wave. Racking positions
will not be numbered individually.
• Please take time to familiarise yourself with your surroundings and your position in
relation to the rest of transition. This will speed up your transition process when
you are in the race.
BIKE TRANSITION (T1/T2)
• Before the race, all Triathletes are to rack bikes in the Age Group Transition area.
• Triathletes are to lay their equipment needed for the cycle and run in a neat area
beside their bike.
• During the race only the official entries and exits are to be used.
• Triathletes must have their helmet on and securely fastened prior to taking their
bike out of transition; no triathlete will be allowed to leave transition without a
securely fastened cycling helmet and covered shoes.
• A bike bottle may be carried on your bike in an appropriately fitted bike cage.
• No parents/coaches/spectators are allowed in transition whilst the race is
in progress.
• On completing the cycle course triathletes are to rack their bikes, remove helmets
and ensure they have running shoes on before exiting the bike transition and
commencing the run segment of the course.
• Once you have completed the race you will be allowed back in to Transition to
collect all your personal belongings.
• Team’s riders and runners are to wait beside the bike in Transition for handing
over the timing chip.
BIKE RULES
• Understand the bike course map before race day.
• The bike course is to be ridden in an anti-clock-wise direction.
• Triathletes are to keep to the right at all times and overtake on the left.
• Exit the bike course after 4 laps (10km) and re-enter the bike Transition Area.
RUN RULES
• The run is in a clockwise direction so please keep to the right of the running
path at all times.
• Your upper body must be covered at all times on the run portion of the race.
• Shoes are compulsory.
• No form of locomotion other than running, walking or crawling is allowed.
• One water station will be provided on the course and one at the finish line.
Junior Super Sprint consists of a 2.5km run from Age Group transition (black boxin diagram) and onto run course.
JUNIOR AQUATHLON
RUN RULES• The run is in an anti-clockwise direction so please keep to the right of the running
path at all times.
• Your upper body must be covered at all times on the run portion of the race.
• Shoes are compulsory.
• No form of locomotion other than running, walking or crawling is allowed.
• One water station will be provided on the course and one at the finish line.
The Junior Aquathlon consists of a 1500m run from Aquathlon transition (orange box in diagram) through the Age Group Transition Area and onto run course.Note that Junior Aquathlon competitors turn and run back contra-flow on sameside of the road.
TINY TRIATHLON
Tiny Triathlon start on the beach. Once the last runners are in from the Super Sprint
and Junior races all parents and kids should move to the beach.
Tiny Triathletes will start half way along the beach and wade/swim in an anti-
clockwise direction. Just prior to the breakwater they will turn and run up the beach,
past transition and through to the main event finish line and receive a medal.
