2016 is here, and with it, all the opportunities of a brand new year for our families, our church, and our service to the Lord! Bible Baptist Church had a great year in 2015. Including our Delhi campus, we saw over 230 people saved, 59 baptized, more than 1400 first-time visitors, and 135 new members. God is so good! Every area of our ministry grew last year, including tithes and offerings. Thank you for your faithful service and stewardship last year, and I’m looking forward to what this New Year holds as we put “First Things First”. As we have now completed 20 years of ministry, there are new challenges and opportunities ahead for our ministries. Our congregation has changed, our community has changed, and we are constantly evaluating our ministries to seek ways to better serve our congregation, continue our church planting strategy, and build up our people to become mature followers of Jesus Christ. Please pray for our staff and leadership teams as we seek the Lord’s will in all of these areas. In these latter days, I want our church to not only stand strong, but to be a leader of Independent Baptists as we challenge the anti-Christian culture all around us. The greater the darkness, the greater the need for light! Let’s determine to shine brightly as the “children of light” in this world that is increasingly hostile to our message and to our Savior. Throughout the year we will be doing several things differently than in the past. Revival will be different this year, featuring several speakers on consecutive Sunday nights; Easter will be different this year, as we are taking a break from the traditional Easter drama of the past; Friend Day, VBS, and a few other ministries will undergo changes as well. These efforts are designed to “shake up” the status quo, and to keep our church from ever getting into a routine that takes away from the excitement and joys of ministry. We will keep you well informed of all of these events as they draw closer. Also this year, our partnership with Harvest Baptist Church in Cincinnati is scheduled to end May 31 st . This has been an awesome experience for them and for us, as we helped keep them from closing their doors. Bro. Mike Ogg has done a tremendous job as the campus minister, and the church is expected to call him as the pastor when our agreement ends. The church has grown from 30 on Sunday mornings to over 90, and the offerings have nearly doubled. People have been saved and baptized every month! We will certainly continue to work with them, and offer some financial support through the transition time, as we begin to plan our next venture in church planting. Please pray for Mike and his family as they continue to serve the Lord in Delhi. Our new CLU (Christian Life University) classes begin on Wednesday, January 6 th , the same night that AWANA kicks off the second half of their year. Sunday, January 10 th , I will begin a preaching series called “Counter-Cultural”, that explains where we find ourselves as the church in this modern era, and our response to it. Also, on Sunday night, January 10 th , we will be observing the Lord’s Supper as a church family. The new year has begun let’s do our part to make it one of our best years ever! See you in Church!
