Haverhill is filled with intriguing andinteresting history. Located on theMerrimack River, it was purchasedfrom the Pentuckets and renamedHaverhill. It became an importantindustrial center run by water powerfor woolen mills, tanneries, shippingand shipbuilding. It was home to alarge shoe-making industry with onetenth of the shoes produced in theU.S.A. made in Haverhill.
