Practically from its 1955 beginnings, Yamaha competed in dirt racing in Japan, and soon brought the first Japanese racebikes to America for the 1958 Catalina Grand Prix. A YZ®250 prototype won the first-ever Supercross in 1972, and YZs have since amassed 39 U.S. Supercross and Motocross titles. Yamaha later revolutionized the industry with the 4-stroke YZ400F in 1997, and hasn’t backed off since. In tribute to this long-standing race heritage, we are proud to offer the 2016 YZ450F and YZ250F in optional 60th Anniversary Yellow/Black.

QUICKER LAUNCHES, MORE DIALED INWinner of 2015 Cycle News, Dirt Rider and Transworld MX shootouts, the YZ®450F pulls even harder for 2016. A new launch-control system optimizes acceleration out of the gate, new cam profiles boost low- to midrange grunt, and refined clutch and shifter mechanisms improve launches. Frame and swingarm upgrades likewise increase controllability, revised steering geometry improves front-end feel, and a larger front disc brake allows more aggressive corner entry.

RACE A MOTOCROSS LEGENDThe king of all MX 2-strokes is better than ever with a new gold chain and black rims for that true factory style. The YZ250’s hard-hitting 2-stroke powerband is fattened by a reed-valve induction and a power-valve exhaust, the handling is laser-focused with a KYB® Speed-Sensitive fork, and a gripper seat and adjustable handlebar mounts tailor the ride. Result? Explosive performance in a 227-pound package.
