Benefits CMA International…but God!How did we get from one man on one motorcycle to a nationwide organi-zation with chapters in every state? There is no way…“but God!” How

could a non-profit Christian biker organi-zation pump 53 million dollars into thework of the Kingdom of God over the last28 years? That is impossible…“but God!”How can a biker organization grow fromhumble beginnings to a worldwide min-istry with 1,200 chapters nationwide andorganizations in 34 countries? It just can’thappen…“but God!” CMA International isa blessing from God and one of the waysCMA is fulfilling the Great Commission to“go into all the world.”

Fast Lane…Pressing OnLike mentioned earlier, as we traveled wesoon discovered that some dedicatedCMA’ers were already out there doing FastLane ministry. They were alone and with-out support; what was needed was a net-work, some CMA sanctioned organizationto provide resources, personnel, encour-agement and inspiration to those dedicat-ed servants. John Jr worked tirelessly toput that network and organization inplace. State contacts were put in place, communication was stepped up andresources were provided. November 2015 HeartBeat

But there it was, inthe form of an overflowing mail box,God’s definitive answer to the question,“was there any interest in an organizationcombining Christianity and motorcy-cling?”! The discovery of a whole familyof “Christian motorcyclists” that wasexcited at the prospect of joining a groupconnecting Christ to motorcycling was arevelation.

CMA at WorkWe all know that no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws them(John 14:6), but the Scripture also asks how can they believe if they don’thear and how can they hear if no one tells them? (Romans 10:14). So itis obvious that if a ministry is going to be successful in evangelizing acertain group of people they need some sort of Holy Spirit inspired

method or strategy, if you will, to gain avoice among those people. The ChristianMotorcyclists Association at its root is pri-marily a ministry to bikers by bikers.Being a rider and a kindred spirit will getyou entrance to the group but it isn’t nec-essarily enough to gain a voice. “Earningthe right to speak” has been the provenmethod of the Christian MotorcyclistsAssociation for forty years. How do we dothat? By becoming a servant to those weare called to influence with the Gospel.

40 years of Ministry-Naming NamesThere are 23 men listed here, representingmany different abilities, God-given talentsand unique personalities. Over the last 40years, each one in their own way con-tributed to the success and effectivenessof this ministry in the role of Evangelist. The accepted definition of evangelist is“one who presents the Gospel usually inlarge public settings.” That doesn’t evenscratch the surface of what a CMAEvangelist is called to be; preacher, teacher, people manager, peace keeper, event planner, motivator, problem solver, organizer, writer, spiritual mentor, world traveler and mission leader, andif that isn’t enough they are expected to display all seven attributes of thefruit of the Spirit.

This year, we have been celebrating what God has done through the min-istry during the last forty years. I am pleased with what God has

accomplished and am encouraged for where we are going. God has brought usto this time to continue to grow us for what He has called us to in the future. Heis leading us as a ministry into a spiritual renewal. As we move forward, a spiritof renewal and revival is going to sweep through the ministry of CMA.

As our Seasons of Refreshing material for 2016 is being developed, we sensethe leading of the Holy Spirit to focus on spiritual renewal. Without a doubt, weneed a revival to sweep our country. What God is doing by bringing revival willnot only flow through our ministry, but will flow through other ministries, andinto those around us. But, we must remember, spiritual renewal is a personalthing and always starts with us.

We have a tendency to see ourselves in the natural, but Jesus views us in thespiritual realm. What did Jesus see when He picked the disciples? They were aninteresting group of people: fishermen, tax collectors, zealots (a radical politicalgroup), ordinary people. They were probably the last people anyone would havepicked to carry the Christian faith to reach the entire world with the message ofJesus. In spite of what they looked like in the natural, Jesus saw in them menwhose hearts would stand fast in the face of persecution, whose hearts andsouls could be entrusted with the message of life.

How does He see you and me? Does He see us as we see ourselves or does Hesee someone that is anointed to accomplish the will that He has set within us?As we look at ourselves in the mirror we have one image, but Jesus sees us aswe can be in Him. Everything that we need to accomplish His will has been setbefore us and the price has been paid. He has created each of us for a greatdestiny. He looks beyond where we are to where we can be in Him. It is thedevil’s desire to defeat us, hold us back, and make us believe that we cannotaccomplish anything. Jesus died that we might have life and have it more abun-dantly. He intercedes for us and sees us as very powerful and anointed men andwomen of God.

I challenge you to take a fresh look at who you are and who God’s Worddeclares you to be. May you walk in the faith and the power of God and notbelieve the lies of this world. You were created on purpose, for a purpose, andeverything you have need of rests in our obedience to follow Christ. Go andconquer yourself and your part of the world and see Jesus’ destiny fulfilled inyou. CMA

The Birth of CMAHeber Shreve; horseman, pastor, biker, evangelist and founder of theChristian Motorcyclists Association struggled in his calling to evangelizethe motorcycling world. From his first visit to a motorcycle rally and eye

opening look at the biker lifestyle, heprayed; “Please God, send someone tohelp these people. But please…don’t let itbe me.” As he visited rally after rally theHoly Spirit continued the conviction andHerb’s heart began to change along withhis prayers. “Lord,” he prayed, “You knowI’ll go wherever You want me to go, anddo whatever you want me to do. I justhope You don’t want me to start riding amotorcycle on a full-time basis. But if thatis what you have in mind…please give mea willing and obedient heart.”
