2016 AIRPORT FENCING IMPROVEMENTS & OBSTRUCTION REMOVAL –PROJECT #ARP-34
• Project will complete several safety improvements to prevent and reduce wildlife hazards, ensuring the continued safe operation of the airport and compliance with the FAA requirements.
• Fencing improvements, vegetation management, water management (WHMP)• Tree obstruction removal/topping on airport property (FAR Part 77 )• Mitigation plantings on and off airport property (2005 Development Agreement)
Project Objective
2016 AIRPORT FENCING IMPROVEMENTS & OBSTRUCTION REMOVAL –PROJECT #ARP-34
• Installation of buried chain link skirt and surface skirt
• Height extension from 6’ to 8’ for section of fence on west side adjacent to park and tennis courts and does not border private residences
• Installation of paved aprons at the existing gates

• Construction of gravel service road inside perimeter of operational fence for monitoring/ maintenance
Project Elements
70% of Construction Contract Value ~ $717,000
2016 AIRPORT FENCING IMPROVEMENTS & OBSTRUCTION REMOVAL –PROJECT #ARP-34
• Removal or topping of trees located on airport property to comply with FAA Part 77 requirements

Phase 2/3 Cost Projections
Prior Projection February 2016 vs. Current Projection
• Based on 30% level of design completed at that time
• Additional public outreach efforts increased Phase 2 costs
• Multiple design revisions incorporated into tree removal plan to address concerns related to obstruction removal scope of work increased Phase 2 costs
• Contractor bids came in higher than expected compared to engineer’s estimate at final design
