Arts Development

• A-3 Artist travel assistance • $10,000, applicant pays 10% of project costs

Investing in Artists’ Organizations Fund (Schedule B)

• B-1 Shared studios • Nunavut artists’ organizations, including societies, cooperatives, not-for-profit corporations, municipal corporations and for-profit organizations

• B-2 Arts training in Nunavut • $15,000

• B-3 Marketing support • $15,000, applicant pays 10% of project costs

• B-4 Arts education opportunities for young people • Nunavut schools and artists’ organizations, including societies, cooperatives, not-for-profit corporations, municipal corporations and for-profit organizations

Investing in Nunavut’s Music Industry (Schedule C)

• C-1 Assistance for the recording and production of music • Professional musicians 16 or older who are Nunavut residents. Preference will be given to recordings in the Inuit language

• $25,000, applicant pays 10% of project costs

Community Tourism and Cultural Industries

• Nunavut tourism societies or establishments, not-for-profits, outfitters, hunters and trappers organizations, and municipalities

• $150,000, large and medium Nunavut businesses must match department contribution, all other applicants contribute 20% of project costs

Cultural Tourism Projects (Schedule B)

• Improving arts and culture infrastructure• Marketing and advertising• Developing creative cultural products• Packaging artist offerings from multiple communities for

cultural tourists

• Nunavut tourism societies or establishments, not-for-profits, outfitters, municipalities, artists organizations and businesses dealing in artists’ products

• $150,000, large and medium Nunavut businesses must match department contribution, all other applicants contribute 20% of project costs

Cultural Industries Projects (Schedule C)

• Improving strategic and organizational support• Supporting innovation and risk taking• Youth engagement in learning how to participate as artists• Artists residencies, mentoring and touring

• Nunavut artist studios or artist cooperatives with at least three participating artists in any of the creative disciplines, individual artists

• $35,000, applicants contribute 10% of project costs

of a community freezer and/or other country food infrastructure

Community Harvesting Infrastructure Fund (Schedule B)

• Repair and upgrade of community freezer, community market or cut and wrap facilities

• Design, purchase and installation of new community freezer, community market or cut and wrap components and infrastructure

• Nunavut municipalities• Nunavut hunters and trappers organizations with a letter of support

from the municipality

Nunavut Prospectors Program

creating a better information base of Nunavut’s mineral deposits

• Be a Nunavut resident • 18 years of age or older• Demonstrate a working knowledge of prospecting • Have a prospector’s licence

Organizational Development Programs (Schedule B)

• Provide funding and support to organizations to boost the territory’s economy

• Nunavut societies and not-for-profit corporations. Funding normally goes to Nunavut Tourism, Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association, Nunavut Film, Nunavut Economic Developers Association, Nunavut Economic Forum and the Nunavut Broadband Development Corporation

Community Capacity Building (Schedule C)

• This supports the funding for a community economic development officer, plans and initiatives

Entrepreneur Development Fund (Schedule B)

• Assists business through training and skill development• Eligible training includes accounting, bookkeeping,

business start-up, and tourism safety and risk management• Also assists in the establishment of business

aftercare programs

• Nunavut residents• Nunavut organizations

Sustainable Livelihood Fund (Schedule C)

• Supports activity in the tourism, arts and crafts, and harvesting sectors

• Assistance to overcome immediate legal or bookkeeping problems

• Supports the purchase of tools and other minor capital items• Helps pay for tourism operators’ liability insurance

• Nunavut small businesses• Nunavut self-employed entrepreneurs• Nunavut outfitters, guides, adventure tour operators, arts and crafts

productions, or commercial renewable resource harvesters

• $10,000 lifetime max per applicant
